Faq: Apexi Powerfc - Frequently Asked Questions
sl33py replied to paulr33's topic in Tutorials / DIY / FAQ
Hi Paul, a similar question to the above: A friend has the Power FC boost controller kit for the R32 GTR. I have a GTST R33. Will I be able to use his kit with my PFC? -

I have that EXACT combination of RDA slotted rotors (front only) and EBC Redstuffs (again, front only) on my car if you wanna come see how well they pull up I've been asked if they're Brembo's, but that was someone unfamiliar with the car... and half tanked hahaha. I like them. The brakes... not the drunk person -
a20089, think I saw ya at the Charny shops this arvo just after Bathurst ended. I was parked on your left as you went past. If not, it was a similar GTR 33.

Hah yeah I, PFC isn't in yet I'm hoping for 180-190 when the PFC/FMIC/boost+ are in. Baconer: Yep, saw yours pull similar. I've got a lightened flywheel which probably comes into play. Can't think of anything else it would be if yours is as stock as mine. Guessing you might have a FMIC or something I don't. Either way, close enough -

I've got EBC reds. Yep you need to dig into them a bit when not really warm to stop fast. I'm very happy with their stopping power in general in combination with my RDA front slotted rotors and about to try them on the track. They are half worn already, so we'll see My mechanic says the EBC Greens are even more track oriented and need to be warmed up even more!

Well I've got Toyo T1R's, which a couple of knowledgeable sources say will be "OK", but don't give as big a bang for buck as say the Falken 452. The Federal RS's look like they'd be simply awesome on the track, but could be pure ice skates in the wet on normal road, and I have to choose a set of tyres that will do for all My biggest weakness is going to be having stock power and the car still weighing a bit over 1400kgs when I take my sub out (I've got a lot of sound deadening). Still, hope my suspension and maybe skill will make the most of what power I DO have. -

Just had my (delayed) dyno, got 142.2kW and 224Nm, pretty happy with that seeing as I've only done the exhaust. PFC, boost and FMIC on the way! -

I'm Ticked Off...what Gets You Wound Up?

LOL bagel Yeah sideswipers. My gf was coming off the roundabout near what used to be Gull at the top of Belconnen, and this stupid bugger in the inside lane cut across in front of her with no indication and when they were both barely off the roundabout. She had to slam on the brakes and this loser only missed the front of her car by literally A FOOT!!!!! And sure enough, I knew what he was going to do before he did it, he pulled across her lane and straight into the servo. Gf was so shocked she had to pull over and steady herself for a few minutes (hasn't been in in an incident that close before). I would love to get one of those scrolling electronic signs you can run off car power, put it in my back window and when someone tailgates, turn it on with the big red message: "BACK UP MATE" Then if they refuse, I'd switch the message to "YOU ASKED FOR IT" and watch them quickly distance themselves about 200 metres for fear of me slamming on the brakes They are on eBay, but they are usually one of those "5 dollar item, 50 bucks shipping" dealies.. but if I see anyone with it, you're a champ hahahha Edit: Bah! It's always something.. get your car fixed and then your electric toothbrush dies -

Cool.... When is this boost controller supposed to come out, and why do you recommend it in particular? My tuner might want to use the A/F Input Harness? -
After what seemed like forever with steering/suspension problems (5 workshops/nearly a year buggering around... turned out to be an intermittent problem with the steering rack), the car finally behaves! So I'm taking it to Wakefield to do the half day race course with Dereck (Fifth Gear) on Thursday. I guess the upside of the past problems was that in the process, I've pretty much replaced the whole suspension and the car handles like it's on rails: SydneyKid's shocks/springs, more adjustable rods and bushes than I knew existed, adjustable sways... Anyway, very excited to finally be lined up for some go-fast. My brake pads (EBC Reds) are about half used, will probably need replacing soon after. I read somewhere that 1:20ish or so is respectable time for a complete newby, hope to come close Bit hyper at the moment cos the car's been a POS for the past year, this is like having a new toy all over again I've read the track prep threads, so think I'm all good to go. Just one thing: I've seen some ppl tape up their headlights, is there any point in this? My coming week is: Cheap dyno tomorrow morning (since car wasn't ready for the recent dyno day), watch Bathurst on the w/end, then Wakefield PS: stock, good condition castor rods for sale! See sig.

E-manage Ultimate (emu) 56k Beware (screen Shots)

I'm 99% decided on this thing, just need to confirm a few things: looks like the EMU doesn't have have built in boost control and you need an external unit like the GReddy PRofec B-Spec. II (Greddy part 15500209). Is that right? Can I use any boost controller? or is it like CD stackers/head units where they won't play with 'other brand' gear? I know I'll need the following (planning to keep the AFM for the time being): - eManage Ultimate ECU Rrevision E (Greddy code 15500501) includes software and USB cable from where I'll buy it (mohdparts) - Harness Kit, either 15901500 (1.2metres) OR 15901503 (2.5m), whichever my mechanic wants to use But do I need this next harness, or is it included in the harness listed above? - A/F Input Harness (part 15900912, 25USD) I think that's all I need until I decide to go MAP, when I'll buy the following: - Pressure Sensor (16401301) - Pressure Sensor Harness (16401406) -
I have a work phone, so I don't need this: 1x Nokia 6233. Go to the Nokia site and look it up for the exact details. It's unlocked (so you can use it on any network). The packaging has been opened and I played around a little with the menus, but other than that, it's brand new. Even has the little protective covers on the screen and camera. $245 shipped anywhere in Australia by registered mail. Have a look on eBay and you'll see this is a good price. Happy to send pics on request, or provide link to my eBay feedback. Oh by the way, the case is black (I think it comes in silver too). Gimme a PM or a buzz on 0404 896 713.

I've just redone my whole suspension and have these spare: 1x PAIR R33 stock castor/radius rods with excellent condition aftermarket nolythane bushes. $150 shipped anywhere in Australia. No damage whatsoever, mechanic says they'd be fine to put on another car. Feel free to ask me any questions, though I don't know what else there is to say PM or ring 0404 896 713. I can link to my 100% eBay feedback and provide photos if you want. Thanks for looking.

Wheel Shaking And Tram Lining
sl33py replied to sl33py's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
It was the rack. It's all fixed now. After all the replaced parts, if I had to describe the car in one word, it would be: TIGHT. Lovin' it -
Wheel Shaking And Tram Lining
sl33py replied to sl33py's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Nope, no damage to the wheels. I've had the wheels/tyres of one of the workshop owner's on my car for a few days and the car was doing the same, only less intense because he has larger profile tyres, hence a little more give. And nope, no spacers. -
How much would a not-too-crazily-placed kill switch cost to get fabricated/installed?

Wheel Shaking And Tram Lining
sl33py replied to sl33py's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Further Update: Steering wheel still trembling/shaking. Car's currently getting every possible bush in the suspension replaced (ignoring a few which are OK anyway, and replacements couldn't be sourced). Rear cradle bushes were shot. Front steering rackmount bushes were shot. Turns out one of the steering rack tie rods ends was munted, one was average, and the rack itself is bent. Hoping like h3ll this is the last of the problems because a) running out of time and patience, and b) mechanic says there's nothing left to change after this anyway!!! -
