Faq: Apexi Powerfc - Frequently Asked Questions

here use this http://www.paulr33.com/powerfc-emulator/menu.html -
covered to death there would be a dozen howto's on this topic
-
if you are bringing the engine onto boost you are well past TPS being basically closed, ie %20 TPS so if you find its coming on boost, then you are pushing the pedal too hard you could have a T88 big single RB26 and still get 450kms+ to tank like ash said its all how you drive the car imho wiring the wastegate open or shut achieves zero for fuel control the airflow meter drives fuel injection control so wastegate open or closed, its the same you pushing the pedal more than needed is what drives more airflow meter load
-
regardless of ecu, the car will make xyz RWKW or KW or HP blah blah there is no legitament reason another ECU will make more power if it does, the other was not tuned properly air fuel spark make power not the ecu pick one that your tuner is competent with
-
then just fit some new plugs PC computers usually have good connectors to suit this type of application with locking tabs check out places like jaycar etc online to find a pair of male/female clips with a locking tab
-
series 1 gtr purple stiching series 2 gtr purple stiching series 3 gtr red stiching apparently
-
shit hot and good score well done
-
if you are re-doing the head you would be crazy to put an unknown spec age ceramic turbocharger back on it if you are spending money on the head, then go for a new turbocharger or highflow the std one the ceramic turbochargers are basically timebombs with age and especially if you start pushing it when a fresh head and want lots of power from it
-
nothing to be gained by going from MAF to MAP powerfc is my recommendation
-
and it would depend how it looks too if its all grey dark and oem looking and looks standard you might be ok if its got HKS and greddy plastered all over it with shiny parts and nice blue coloured joiners etc then its likely to get more noticed
-
if you have the bits just put the stock bits back on to clear the issue and get on with it no need to contest it if you have the parts and its a a simple swap - or even borrow them
-
and as always buyer beware, especially on ebay if its cheap, its cheap for a reason ie injectors are usually $700+ for a set of 6
-
looks pretty bad ass well done

also been looking at the i-crusing which is the same headshell unit, but orange display and you can plug the El2 sensors into it, very costly for entire package but i love the black/orange display its a shame the shell is silver, as on my dash ive got the black RSM and black VAFC could almost have the set or colour group like in monopoly -

thats exactly what my parts look like, i ordered mine in bits from nengun seperately these parts if the pic is correct look fine and a good substitue the solenoid is a generic open/close solenoid so it would make sense you can use others i know people who have even used the stock ECR33 boost solenoid with a drill through it to make it run like a normal boost controller (ie jaycar style) and the map sensor as long as its in the same voltage range, the pfc wont know any better ive actually got powerfc, RSM and V-AFC in my car and i run the apexi boost map sensor to the powerfc and to the V-AFC on the V-AFC the scaling is off the planet and no matter what i can do, the boost pressure doesnt match up on the VAFC i think the VAFC is only designed for honda vacuum and doesnt expect 10+ pSI equivalent voltage the most i can get it to is like 4 psi or something whacko like that when its actually 12psi at the sensor -

from memory on my ECR33 it cut the stock ECR33 boost solenoid plug off and mated it to the powerfc boost solenoid plug as the solenoid loom came with its own plug and then another socket to bare wires i think so i just mated it on the ECR33 loom so that i can plug/unplug the powerfc solenoid as i wanted from memory i didnt fit, but that might have been cos i ordered generic parts and not ECR33 specific either way its two wires, ground and power if you get it wrong, it doesnt open/close and you get actuator stock boost so no harm done if its wrong -
must use map/boost sensor - how else would you measure pressure? all boost controllers use a map sensor programable is ok but it will cost you. dont know of any that use USB or have any sort of computer interface i use the apexi powerfc boost control kit and it is set and forget uses the same parts as the AVC-R but plugs directly into the ECU less screens and other junk doesnt include dual solenoid or maps though
-
no ecu change or piggyback is legal, be it a remap, stand alone, piggyback or modification of the stock one you would usually get pinged for it as it alters the cars emissions
-
apexi el hand controller is $360 new from nengun
-
yeah if you arent buying brand new injectors in box with warranty card or some sort of documentation then thats your own risk/fault the nismo ones from memory only come in pairs in boxes and come with some sort of documentation / paperwork so if you are bidding on a pic of injectors in a plastic bad, you know its not legit imagine buying a legit BOSCH air flow meter from REPCO and it came in no bag, no box, no packaging, just an airflow meter you wouldnt be too keen on it now would you?
-
the reason they are the same, is probably, because they are people like HKS, NISMO, tomei etc probably dont even make their own injetors and simply brand JECS ones JECS make a ton of OEM parts so they should be fine and suitable, your stock injectors would be JECS
