  1. a fair bit different one would expect front plenum less pipework multiple throttle bodies bigger displacement possibly different head (dont know enough on 25 vs 26)
  2. i just screwed it in from memory
  3. yeah if you are on a budget the best thing you can do is get the max out of the stock turbo setup. this means safe, but you can net yourself some good gains by doing so on a budget. my setup went from 140rwkw to 193rwkw which makes for a fairly quick car on the street, not much can beat you in most "legal" situations, even the vlt's and xr6's, xr8s etc will struggle to beat if you can drive. i was able to net 13.7 with a f**ked diff and 0 to 100 in 4.8 so you dont need 4000rwkw to get good times or a quick car get a good tune with a good setup (nistune, safc, anything but a MINES ECU) good intercooler good intake good tyres and clutch the stock ER34 smic is ass, dont bother either upgrade the standard SMIC to a frount mounted item or dont bother, a SMIC is a waste of time and money
  4. 0.01sec is where its at
  5. i guess if you think about it and close the bonnet then add in the intake temp of the engine bay + compressor wheel + all the pipework etc it doesnt sound too unreasonable (50deg intake temp)
  6. have you done track days on std tyres? please be careful with semi's on track if its your first time and be prepared to bin it semi's may give you false sense
  7. if you have to goto the effort to replace the bolts as the supplied ones are ass that kinda says something about the product doesnt it ?
  8. i believe the air temp vs boost is set to cap max boost based on airtemp and correct it down for excessive intake temp i have gtr boost kit working but i do not have air temp sensor (gtst) so i cant test and advise sorry the powerfc maps are as-is maps and the airtemp correction is used to retard timing as airtemp goes up that is, it only retards timing with higher airtemp, not add timing when its cooler so basically you should tune the car in the coolest possible conditions as a base line and when summer comes along the PFC will self correct down (IGN) when intake temps are higher but as you said, thats using the factory sensor in the factory spot which nissan setup for that reason so im not sure if moving it helps or makes it worse, if the intake temp is hot, its basically hot, so therefore run less timing
  9. check if your insurance covers this, a lot of policies include a replacement windscreen
  10. far out, are the recalibrated ones that much? ouch try rhdjapan.com nengun.com greeline.co.jp (or just .jp, cant remember which)
  11. are you sure the controller is at fault here or guessing? i cannot understand the mechanics behind any controller supporting a situation where boost would peak to 18psi (the target) and then trail off to 7psi with the throttle still nailed non stop the only situation where this would be possible is a mangled highflow / mangled exhaust / mangled housing or a leaking VAC line if the controller is toast / faulty / spazzo all it can do is open and close the solenoid incorrectly, or not at all so it would either run unlimited boost or actuator level boost i cant see it spiking to 18psi and then running to some secret hidden level, ie less than the actuator spring check the basics and vac lines? any splits? youd be surprised how easily they split with age
  12. agree with r31nismoid airflow meters can fail with age and are crucial for engine management operation i see no reason to skimp on them when you can buy brand spanker new nismo's off the shelf readily avaiable guaranteed
  13. you need to upgrade the airflow meters when you max the std GTR items from memory this is just over 300awkw on the GTR (someone else could correct me) you have options of djetro map sensor twin nismo AFM's twin Z32's djetro map sensor will read pressure to guess "air volume" and work off that nismo AFM is z32 hotwire sensor inside GTR AFM shell, so its still 65mm, to make it easier to mate up to std pipework and ducting Z32 AFM is z32 hotwire sensor inside 80mm (GTST style shell) so its 80mm, you will have to get adapters etc and pipework to suit 80mm instead of 65mm both Z32 and nismo's should give you same power level, however twin nismo's gives more resolution down lower as the snout is smaller (better low load resolution) nistune or powerfc should give you same results if tuned properly ie the powerfc wont make more power or less ask your tuners how long and how much to tune either and more importantly, what they prefer the GTR djetro is pretty bulletproof from memory and a well supported setup but it still requires twin map sensors, so its costly as well single MAF or single map sensor on GTR is not recommended in actual fact the GTR ecu uses averge from both sensors, so you could dummy up the signal wire but its average for a reason and recommended to run twin of whichever to get best accurate result why mac-gyver something up so important to save 200?
  14. ace thanks now if someone can confirm what BNR34 is
  15. covered in the powerfc faq differences - EL screen - FCC 4 is std version - supports all powerfc units (except chaser auto) - FUNCTION SELECT screen is in english (FCC/FCC2/FCC3 have jap characters for on/off) - EL unit has light sensor like RSM, AVCR, SAFC units there is also magic art covers avaiable on the nengun site to give your hand controller a coloured cover instead of the plain black the biggest difference for most users is the better screen and no more "freeze at apexi logo" annoyances (unless you have a chaser auto)
  16. PASHAK on calder fwy this morning
  17. duncan has the new EL hand controller and it will work on every powerfc expect toyota chaser JZX100 auto as it has special firmware for all the auto menu's and logic FCC4 was a complete re-write from apexi to work on the EL display and support all powerfcs including ap eng, pro, and mainstream versions the only exception as above is the chaser auto version
  18. yeah it would have AFM cut and boost map sensor cut but it wouldnt cut at 5 or 6psi, that would be silly the std actuator would be 7psi at a stab in the dark anyone with stock ER34 can confirm stock ER34 boost ?
  19. i think GCG.com.au make them
  20. i think theres an 8mr grey in vic for 31k on carsales
  21. whilist i agree just be careful with the SAFC and understand what it is doing and how it affects the ECU be sure to note it BENDS the AFM signal to the std computer and it uses this way to make the car rich/lean and more/less timing so if you can get your head around that (not hard) then its easy the computer looks at the airflow meter signal and throttle body sensor to work out how hard the engine is working based off "how hard" the engine is working it then computes ignition timing and air/fuel injection control (ie what ratio to aim for) the SAFC sits between your airflow meter and the std computer to "BEND" or "Fake" the signal the the SAFC will say the engine is under less load that it really is, which in turn makes the computer throw in less fuel and/or more timing so you get a leaner ratio (more power) but you also get more timing (not always good). so its juggling act, balancing both. on a system like a powerfc or nistune you can edit both maps seperately - the ignition and fuel injection maps and say whatever XYZ degrees at XYZ RPM and XYZ AF/R at XYZ rpm etc etc on the SAFC you simply say bend + or - XXX increments from 2800rpm to 3200rpm so say -2 at 2800rpm to 3200rpm then -4 at 3200rpm to 3600rpm so you basically juggle the beinding to get the best comprimise back in the day, everyone had SAFC'S and got good reuslts and not many hand standalones a lot has changed since then and most just go straight for stand alone ECUS like nistune or powerfc but the SAFC is cheap, easy to setup yourself and away you go, good results for fraction of the price (just remember the comprimise/juggle operability)
  22. are you sure the guage is in PSI? it might be mmhg or hg or kgcm2 from memory the stock ER34 has a manifold boost sensor and it trips out around 12psi it definetly would trip out at 5/6psi as the stock boost on ER34 would be around 10psi (give or take)
  23. Highest and Lowest scores Highest Rank Score Club Opponent Year Round Venue 1 37.17.239 Geelong Brisbane Bears 1992 7 Carrara Stadium
  24. i can remember a game against the brisbane bears and it was like 234 points for the winners geelong i think? they got caned
  25. i reckon 2.5" is fine i think trucks run 3" ?
