  1. whilst they are interchangle and the car will start etc some MEC chip types are not, you may find if you get the wrong MEC chip type, the car runs OK and idles etc but as soon as you drive it, it becomes mega sluggish and performs like ASS i had this on my series 2 GTST with a remapped ECU, the remap was done to suit basic mods and i connected it up, took it for a spin and it ran like a bucket of crap turns out the MEC chip type was wrong and i had to use a different MEC chip number. ask a remapper what the MEC chip type means, from memory the guy in sydney taso i think knows what it means
  2. if u know the basics and have the tools you should be able to do it yourself what ECU and software are you using to tune it? what cant you do or dont understand yourself?
  3. go big single grant, check out al's setup on his 3 litre 3076 external
  4. is that tekken rx7 even quick or does it have std everything and just a mega paintjob
  5. 30et and rb25det pistons 1200 forged, you would be mad to rebuild to std spec if you ever did it

if you pay enough sure, you can get 10 Gigabit if you like =) just dont expect $50 for unlimited on a business plan does anyone remember the original bigpond cable, 100mb per month quota (no joke) and all local content was free? 650mb ISO images via the news and email servers...
  8. street's closed pizza man
  9. been in al's RB30 with 3076 external and it is absolute nuts, power, response and torque everywhere form memory he made over 330rwkw and it absolutely flies - send him a pm if you are after exact specs
  10. a 25 and 26 both making 245rwkw, the 25 makes it earlier, has more response and a better power curve go figure eh :-) twin vs single the main diff is the twins seem to keep flowing more in the top end past 7k
  11. you forgot the holden camira - no issues at all with them
  12. yep find an 8 MR FQ400 for 27k
  13. unstoppable is a good movie
  14. yeah the 3 litre makes such a big difference its like a compltely different car to drive have you been in al's since he changed it to external? check it out if you havent
  15. nope no new cars for me, spending money on backyard next but damn it is tempting and it looks ace in yellow with those wheels and kit like that
  16. damn al's car was impressive 3 litre big single is where it's at flat out power, response, oodles of torque and all round nice engine setup
  17. i really like it in yellow, looks great theres something i really like about it and dont really like 7s agree MR is the ideal model
  18. damn that evo 8 is so tempting perfectly setup with all the basic mods done looks like a basic track pack on it maybe trashed :-)
  19. very nice cheap evo 8 on carsales, yellow for 27k so tempting
  20. it depends on how they do it, old style remaps used to be like that, burn once and you have to pay full price to reburn it. i think these days its a lot cheaper and things like nistune dont require you to "burn" the tune if that makes sense. the bummer when selling a remap is they are usually worth $0 to anyone else. if you sell a vipec or a powerfc or a motec etc you usually get your money back, nistune you would as well. just do your checking with a remap, im always a bit wary of them. you can get the same power/features etc from them, so don't use that as a deciding factor
  21. please please please DO NOT buy a pre-tuned chip. chips that are tuned for other cars, or remaps are no good and not a good idea. they can be unsafe and be tuned for unknown specs. my recommendation is when you add more boost, is to tune the car at the same time. get nistune and increase the boost to 12psi and your car will be like brand new. there is a lot of power and response locked away in the stock ecu. so if you fit nistune and boost up your car will be like brand new. a powerfc is ideal, but are a bit more costly than nistune.
  22. if you are new to buying a skyline then avoid an auction like that you will just feel pressured into bidding and buying it you half like it its much better to check out private sale ones where there is no rush or time limit given the R32 gtr is popular as, there should be oodles to check it, most of them probably dont get many people looking at them so you can take your time, go back and forth, get photos, check and compare etc
  23. went for a ride in al's 3 litre 3076 now with external setup that thing is off its head, so much power and torque im amazed how much diff there is in internal vs external gate
  24. do you mean rb20det and remove the turbo to avoid the power to weight rule ? if this is what you mean - if you remove the turbo it is still a gtst skyline and still registered as turbocharged from factory etc, so its technically over the power to weight rule. ie they dont weigh your car and then dyno it to see if you exceed the power/weight rule, they go off factory specs. so you could get a 6litre v8 with a blown motor that makes 10rwkw and its still be over power/weight (from the factory specs)
