hey everyone, i've done a search but have not found any answers, was hoping you guys could provide some for me i have an R34 GTT manual and was wondering, what the hell does the map sensor do and what is its use besides being a boost cut...? my map sensor decided to die at the workshop and i'm waiting for a new one to come from Japan and after i get the new one thrown on it will finally get dynoed... however, it drives nicely and doesn't seem to have any problems except turning the engine check light on, the workshop says it's fine to drive besides the fact that the car may feel a bit crappy in the lower revs (i have to drive it because it's my only car, map sensor will take ten days to be sent, i pick up the car tuesday and maybe half a week later the map sensor will arrive) was told that guys that throw on high-mounts end up getting rid of them anyway and obviously if you go for an aftermarket ECU (which i will be in the near future) like Power FC or Vi-PEC you get rid of it too so really i just want to know what it does, besides being a boost cut and making my car run slightly shit any help would be greatly appreciated folks, thanks in advance Andrew

lol in Perth everyone is friendly... it might possibly be help though that SAUWA is quite a close-knit community and we always hold cruises like all the time and everyone gets to meet everyone everyone waves at everyone and nods and stuff, however, you do get dickheads sometimes... my mate picked me up from a workshop where i dropped off my car and he took me to work and we were in his 34... saw a chick in a stockish 32 and gave the wave, she gave both of us the cold shoulder, what can you do? lol get on with it she wasn't that hot either so no big loss lol

^ did you ask the pits if they're allowed to ask you to turn on your car or are you just saying that referring to what everyone on this thread has said because i would like to know from a first hand source if we have to turn on our cars when they ask

alright everyone, thanks for the advice, i still haven't been able to check out his car but he's told me that it was the air flow and that it was fitted the wrong way!? he said it's all good now, i thought it was a bit strange lol thanks all! Andrew

i thought maybe the turbo has finished but then why would the gauge still show spool? his car has only done 60,000 odd km's thanks Don anyone have anything else to add?

hey everyone, mate has a stock GTT manual, no mods told me his boost gauge (stock one) still shows boost at 2.5k rpm but at that amount of revs there is actually no boost at all he can't feel anything and boost never comes on, says all his piping and wires are done properly and nothing looks wrong could it be his airflow that's the problem? actually, he says he LOSES power after 2.5k rpm but the gauge still shows he's just sms'ing me and i haven't been able to check out his car, anyone have any idea as to how we can diagnose this problem? any advice would be massively appreciated, cheers! hey everyone, have a crack in the front windscreen that has got out of hand now i was ringing around places today getting prices for a new windscreen fitted prices are as follows; O'Brien $460 or something fitted Novus $310 +/- fitted now i was wondering, are there any local places or 'small' businesses that can take care of this without the high price i once had to get a rear windscreen put in at a place that is right next to where J-Shop used to be but i have forgotten their name... any help would be awesome guys, much appreciated cheers, Andrew P.S: my insurance doesn't cover for windscreens, thanks
