Hey guys what does the standard boost gauge go up to?? does +1 mean 14 or so psi?? is it fairly accurate? mine goes up to about 2mm from the +1? roughly how much would it boosting do you guys reckon?? my gtt when fully boosting sometimes pops a little at around 5krpm could this be the boost cut?? i really would like to try and find out what is causing this before i go and replace coils and get safc etc??
-
yeah mine does it too. it used to do it all the time, but then i regapped plugs idown to 0.6 it only does it evry now and then now. When i regapped the plugs i checked all my coils they looked perfect. It still does it though so i really dont know the exact answer and i dont think anyone does. someone has said the computer doesnt like higher than standard boost and it richens it up which results in the popping you me and many other are experiencing. the exhaust you have on will cause a slight boost increase over standard so the ecu might be doing it???. Mine started doing this when i put my exhaust on so i can sort of see the logic behind this theory. So at the moment i am saving for splitfire coils and safc2 hopefully that fixes the problem. If not its got me fkd and i will sell the fkn thing and get a gtr. I love my car but this stupid problem really pisses me off. SAFC2 and new coils better fix it also it seems as though its a more common probelm with the auto's if someone knows the exact answer and is not just speculating like me and others please HELP!!! i dont want to spend all my money on safc2 and splitfires only to find out that it was something else. hehehehehe that would drive me even more crazy.
-
mine does it too buddy. only after hard driving though and only sometimes, not everytime i thrash. Also sometimes on long drives when it heats up quite a bit. It might be the stock coils???. a few of mine have f'd up and i have had to replace them. so i guess they are a major weak point of the r34. Is yours auto?? Someone was telling me that from time to time a coil will drop out if it is slightly defective?? the heat affects it or something......? but who knows... dont you love it. LOL like you said it could also be the sparkies they might be fouled or something, but mine a re relatively new sparkies and it still does it. i think what we both need to do is get splitfire coils and new sparkies put them in at the same time. I have a feeling that this will fix it mine sometimes breaks up as in misfires at 5k rpm when it is really hot as well does yours do this??

for the paint tizzy up and repair try gary at extensive restorations 1/21 walla st lonsdale 83269191 he does that sort of work all the time. just had me valiant repaired and resprayed there. i was very happy.
-
you dont even need to wind back you can just change the speedometer over out of a crashed one that had low k's at the time of its crash. so you can never be gauranteed of k's. but just driving the car will let you know. drive a few before pruchasing. thats the best way then you will feel what good ones and bad ones drive like.

Why Is It So Hard To Sell A Skyline Privately?
mad34 replied to NA_R33's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
all of what everyone is saying is definately true rising price of petrol etc. i also think you have to consider which age group mainly wants these cars. Usually a larger proportion of the enthusiasts are younger guys and the fact is they dont have any cash. Its not only the the purchase price that you have to consider either. I am only 21 and my gtt takes up alot if not all of my wage to pay loan run register insure etc. All my buddies have the money to purchase one, but dont have the money to insure it firstly and second they cant maintain a performance car so they buy commonwhores falcons etc. They dont want to service every 5000 k's with 50 dollar oil etc i am crazy about my car on the other hand and i am sure you all are too and we consider the costs invloved with such cars as accpetable seeing as its our release and form of fun!!! But some ppl who just want a nice car and have say 35 - 40 to spend buy "more sensible" cars xr6 for eg , most ppl think that way i rkn. As they have no idea how much fun and how rewarding owning a gtr/gtst/gtt can be. i think you should sit tight adn wait for someone who appreciates your car and understands that a good clean well maintained gtr costs money. other wise let them go buy a piece of shite 10000 gtst. -
how can anyone say that car looks shit?? Its More like SHIT HOT!

I wish i still had the pics of my immaculate 1967 vc v8 regal valiant after my missus attempted to drive it home one day( absolute right off) lucky no damage to missus though. I had to delete them from my computer as it used to make more and more agro every time i looked at it. But it would make you all feel a lot better about the damage to your cars trust me. I know it was only a valiant, but it was in such immaculate condition it belonged in a musuem aaghhhhh oh well replaced it with a r34 gtt so atleast that helps me sleep at night.

hey bass whats going on nearly done yet?? keep us informed.

Should I Sell My Skyline And Buy A Rotar?
mad34 replied to GOR33's topic in General Automotive Discussion
I would rather push a skyline than drive a rotar. hehehe I can understand wanting to sell the line to get a series 8 rx 7, but a rx3 common man get serious i have VC V8 valiant and yeh sure old cars are kinda cool, but compared to the comfort and smoooth delivery of power nothing compares to new cars -
robos right you can do it without taking it off, but i am no good at yoga so i took the bonnet off.
-
you will need car stands and will prolly need to take your bonnet off thats what i had to do to put my dump pipe on. I was lucky enough to not break any studs.
