  1. Used to get, as Hugh says, between 11 and 12 in my R33 4dr GTS-t, but on it's last drive to Sydney, when I got my M35, it did better than 9!! On average, so far, M35 uses about 0.4 more than the R33 did, which I am really happy about.. but best ever, drive back from Sydney when I first got it, was only 10.5 so not the huge difference, open highway improvement, compared to the R33..
  2. Hi Andy, Which ones did you get, and how well do they match the ARX interior? Would be very interested... My daughter loves watching DVDs on the JDM Panasonic sat nav, but with the imminent arrival of her new sibling will be moved to one of the side positions, and thus will not be able to see the screen anymore. I think some of these headrest screens with built in player would be ideal. Thanks. Nick
  3. Looks like you need an iPed... iPed
  4. My citroen BX GTi 16V needed some wierd arse additional expansion bottle to be fitted when the cooling system was bled. Because the top of the engine was physically higher than the normal models they used this additionl bottle. It had a bottom like a radiator cap, that fitted into the top of the expansion bottle. They filled it with water, now some 20 cm higher than normal, and then started the engine with the heater on melt down setting. Once the thermo opened, they would bleed it, wait for the engine to cool down a bit, remove the extension bottle, suck out a bit of the water to get it back down to the correct level, and send you on your way... I'm pretty sure that something similar was required for the Rb30 in the VL, because the radiator cap was "too low".
  5. Normal fuel in Brazil has been E10-22 since 1976 and E20-25 since 2003 and E25 from 2007. Drove a 100% Alcohol VW Voyage when I was in Brazil, too many years ago... But, they were all carburetored then, and had huge water traps in the fuel system that needed to be regularly checked/emptied.. As far as I know that's all been sorted out now.. Love it when "Australian" brands like GM, I mean Opel, I mean Daewoo oh sod it... Holden jump on the band wagen..
  6. straight gas Falcon will be LiLPG when it is launched in the next few months... SAAB 9-5 and 9-3 engines are all optimised for E85 fuel now.. they detune themselves to work on PULP. Many manufacturers are very commited to EXX based fuels. Commodore was exported to South America about 10 years ago, with uprated fuel lines to cope with their normal E25 fuel. E20 is also the norm for Thailand now and most 1 tonne utes and current Honda Jazz, City, Accord (fat one) Nissan Tiida, Maxima are sourced from there.
  7. Or the body style, or the fuel type, or the price..... gotta love the attention to detail of some of these guys...
  8. Yes I can see this one as being the best for the iPhone users who need to take the phone in and out all the time.. For me, I wanted it all hidden, so the iPod, cable from the PA11 and the Tunecenter are all under the centre console and can all be controlled either from the audio or from a little remote control. My only other concern, is that with the Spec.Docks, and I did look at them as well, there is a chance that the iDevice will throw itself across the car during violent manouvers, like tight roundabouts, or rough roads. My iPod has fallen out of the my Tune Centre the once, when I was following my father in law down what they call an "unsurfaced road". Its the one that feels like it has been surfaced with corrigated roofing sheets... Plugged it into the PA11, no such problems... Whichever way you go, you will love the integration of the device into the audio.. For me, and some of the others, it was our only choice, as our 6 discs were broken, but glad I did this anyway..
  9. Yes exactly the same... Basically, as long as your audio will control an external Disc changer, then it will work with the PA15. That is how it works. You create NISSAN1, NISSAN2 etc. playlists on the iPod, and the car audio treats each of these as if it were a seperate disc in an external changer...
  10. I think that rather than the pop up screen this info would be shown in the inline screen on the stereo, so wont work on our segment numeric displays, that cannot show letters... Probalby would show this info on a PM35 unit.. Also, you reminded me, I only have the PA11, not the PA15... wishful thinking..
  11. He actually doesn't have the 6 disc, (RS so only single CD for him), but I do have the non-bose 6 disc on my ARX, and have the PA15 NIS installed. Works brilliantly and I even have the output from my Jap spec Panasonic Sat Nav connected to the spare inputs on the PA15, so that when we play DVDs the sound comes through the stereo.. It is the CD/CHG button that is important, not the SAT one... Good thing about this unit as well, is that it works with all iPods, some of them only work with the older ones or won't charge iPhones.. I also have one of these, Griffin Tune center, which I can use as an alternative to the PA15, when I want to watch vidoes from the iPod on the sat nav screen, or for when I want to see playlist, track playing info etc. which the PA15 cannot do. This just plugs into the aux input on the satnav, and as mentioned before, the aux output from the satnav, goes into the PA15.. Pretty happy with it all and also got this, IR Extender, so that the remote control for the Tune Center still works. Got all of it on eBay. The IR extender and the Tune center were dirt cheap, the PA15, was not... I tend to use the Tune center for long drives when I want to do more than just select a specific playlist, or maybe video for my toddler, but the PA15 for everyday use. Took a couple of hours to fit, and whilst the centre console was apart, also fixed the tiptronic shift direction to how it should be, ie back for up, forward for down..
  12. Are we talking about the spots where the two rubber pads are? The bottom edge of the number plate rests on these to stop it vibrating against the boot. iamhe77 is on about my number plate trims, which we accessories fitted to fill the area around the square Japanese number plate.. Still planning on refitting mine, eventually, if only to hide the marks left when I removed them so that my VIC number plate fitted..
  13. Tiida and Micra are both based on, dare I say it, a Renault Clio platform, so this could be possible..
  14. Pretty sure that they can import to NZ, any vehicle that has type approved for any market... So grey imports from Japan are fine as they are to Japanese standards. Also European cars from Singapore are also regularly imported as they are to European standards.. However, they do have to pass the local NZ annual Warrant of fitness, that may, or may not, allow for massively modified cars to be initally registerd.. Sure one of the Kiwis will explain the specific requirements... Whilst we are on child seats, the isofix mounts fitted to many new cars in AUS are completely legal, under ADR. However it is not legal to purchase or use an isofix child car seat, as they are not fitted with a tether and therefore do not pass ADR.... Cannot wait until ALL the ADRs are aligned with the Euro regs... The paperwork is apparently going though, and should all be signed off in a couple of years... Woohoo!!! 200th post!!
  15. I looked very seriously at the Legnum, and have a relative who is very active in the VR4 forums.. but in the end, went for the M35... Yes, I know that you're looking at a C34, but then so was I... It was only when iamhe77 got involved that the M35 was even considered... Also I needed a bigger car (drivers seat area) than my R33, and whilst the C34 was bigger, I felt that the Legnum was much the same size, based on my relatives Super VR4. Both are excellent cars and have positives and negatives... Ultimately it comes down to your needs and situation... Don't want to spend any money on go fast bits, and don't need to get the vehicle serviced too often, go with the Legnum and enjoy its amazing performance and handling from the super trick rear diff and transmission.. But if you want to have a play.. change some parts, do some work on the car yourself start looking at large amounts of power... Then C34.. You open your engine to the huge amount of work that has been done to the RB engines, and knowledge ammased over the years with the Skyline platform.. But you are starting from an S1, so power wise, you will be much slower than the Legnum. Top power posibilities are only limited by your budget, and not by waiting and having your car as the prototype, as much of the VR4 guys have to do.. Optimum scenario... Get both..
  16. That's one secure server...
  17. Mine do... The mirror tilt is always by a fixed amount, that is adjustable I think, so it then returns to it's orgional position when you go from reverse into drive. And with the folding, it always returns to the indented position..
  18. Isn't it basically the same as the 350Z auto, with a transfer case stuck on the end? Or maybe even more similar to the Model Year 2000 odd Pathfinder, as their 4wd is ATTESA like ours..
  19. Doesn't it just...
  20. I only said part of the reason... These cars may given a good bounce around on their journey to Oz, much more so than the domestic sea journey between the Japanese islands.. Surely that might make some contribution to a weak head drive finally collapsing.. I had been told that this was why the CD/DVD heads are parked on the audios as part of the global industry leaving the factory check list... So are these Nissan/Bose units worse than any other brand? Was it a fundimental design flaw? As the other parts of the units, radio, tape (yes I did use it once I found the stuffed CD) external CD changers etc. seem to work quite well. And as for pulling down the dash... It really isn't so hard, once you read through that stuff on the G35.. Also gives you a chance to correct the "tiptronic" shift direction when you have the centre console out.
  21. Here you go... Here I think lots of us have the stuff autochanger... It is partly caused by the heads not being "parked" (like on an old hard disc) before the cars are transported to Oz. Because it is such a pain to get fixed, the iPod install really does seem to be the best solution.. Using one of these... iPod controller
  22. +1 from me as well... Properly fitted with no roof lining creases by Northshore... On my old R33 4dr, this has also been done properly, and my car was one of the few where they were not installed through the rear speakers... Could not belive that SEVS workshops were just drilling through the speakers to make their job easier..
  23. Be hard pushed to actually turn the 3rd Generation into a proper wagon, rather than the gloried Hatchback that it is.. it was also priced brand new, 500,000 JPY cheaper than the stagea and it's the same size as an Impreza...
  24. The independent height adjustment of the front and back of the seat, the tilt adjustment, is what the motor industry likes to call.... Thigh support... Unfortuately it does not refer to a pull out middle section that recaro used to fit, that actually extends the seat cusion to provide more support for us long legged people... One of my old jobs used to involve translating Automotive Marketing/Product planning speak into neutral comparison friendly speak.. The current Camry was launched with manual automatic transmission... because the marketing guys thought that you had manual control through the indents in the auto gearbox.. Handn't spoken to the engineers, or even driven one.. Gotta love that feeling..
  25. Does this mean I will need to clean the outside of my car for the first time... I've been cultivating the dirt on the back windows to increase the Privacy glass effect...
