V35 Goodies Put On Today...
nickcorr replied to siu_loong_bao's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
Have a Panasonic Sat Nav with DVD in my M35.. Link to Panasonic manuals Fire up translation software and off you go.. Have finally got mine set up. Have installed a PA-11 NIS iPod kit to allow iPod to plug into Nissan stereo. Also have Satnav L&R outputs plugged into spare inputs on PA-11. This means that movies played on sat nav (NTSC region free or region 4 I think) now play with sound through stereo. Have also fitted Griffin Tune Center so that I have more control over iPod and can see what track is playing etc. with the composite and L&R from that plugged into sat nav... Also means I can play movies off iPod on screen, sound through stereo... I do have the remote for my sat nav, but do not need it for any of the adjustments that I do for the picutre. I think it was more for the sat nav functions. Next time I am in Japan, I will get a collegue to try to get me a panasonic camera.. Spare input is there just waiting to be used... -
Yes the traditional CVTs are making great leaps and are available in Oz across all segments.. because of their inherent efficientcies. A CVT works much better with a smaller engine due to its ability to keep the engine running at peak torque as much as possible. This is not possible with even the best DSG type transmission. That is why Audi still use CVT in their 2wd A4s but DSG in the A3's and the Quatro A4's. But the big Audis, the A6, A8, Q7 are all manily conventional slushmatic autos, same for Merc and BMW. Nissan and Audi are the only people to fit CVT to larger 6 cylinder vehicles and I think that these manily FWD vehicles are not producing more torque than these transmissions can take. However, the Toroidal CVT used in RWD applications had to be capable of handling more torque and hence has this special oil and other things. FWD cars just tend to wheelspin away exces torque, but with RWD, it just loads up the transmission, until it breaks traction, or the gearbox.. However, the DSG is getting there. As a manual replacement, it works well, and with each upgrade gets closer to acceptable auto preformance for the masses.. So drive your GT-8 and enjoy it!! It is a fantastic transmission linked to a fantastic engine... It was just too good and advanced to survive out side the most exact service requirements... And as we have found, not all Japanese owners are as diligent with their servicing as we would have hoped...

and interstingly enough, it's actually a Hong Kong Chinese film in Cantonese, staring a Taiwanese guy...

The flares are in the cars for the same reason that some of the European cars, like the wife's Saab, have to carry a warning triangle. It is manditory to carry one and if you break down, you are supposed to walk 100m or more back down the road and light your flare, leaving it burning on the ground, so that no one drives up the back of you.. and yes they are supposed to be removed for compliance, but then so are a lot of other items...

Panasonic Dvd And Gps Unit In Stagea
nickcorr replied to macdog's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
Can't watch TV, as I have not fitted the AUS spec tuner and I wasn't so fussed... The panasonic unit also plays MP3s with control via the touch screen, but as the DVD is under the seat (glovebox would have been so more useful) I'm not going to muck about changing discs... and so went down the iPod route. All came about because the in dash 6 disc was stuffed when I bought the car... AUD 500 to fix. I spent less than that buying this gear on eBay, even the 30Gb iPod video.. I can watch movies off the iPod as well as the DVD player... Had an enjoyable drive down to the inlaws last weekend, with my 15 month old gloriously happy watching Monsters inc. With the DVDs, must be NTSC and must be either Japanese region, or region free. As soon as you have that it will work fine.. -
Panasonic Dvd And Gps Unit In Stagea

Panasonic unit has DVD player, not DVD rom and also audio and composite inputs and audio outputs... Found the reversing camera plug and mode as well... Whilst not as integrated as the OEM units they do have more functions out of the box... even if I do miss out on the economy leaf.. -

Fire up your favourite translation tool and go here.... Panasonic Sat Nav manuals No way to put Aus maps on it, but...... You are miles ahead of the factory Sat Nav for two reasons. 1. you already have phono inputs and outputs from the unit. Makes it easy to connect ipod for music and movies or AUS standard Digital TV tuner 2. you have a DVD player, not just a DVD rom. Out of the box you can play NTSC region free DVDs. My Chinese knock offs play fine and the picture is great. I have just completed installation in my car with a PA11-NIS working with the iPod as a pretend Auto changer. I have also used the phono inputs on the PA11 to connect the output of the satnav to the factory audio. This means that DVDs play with sound through the stereo. Finally, I also bought a Griffin Tune Center. Griffin Tune Center, and installed it in the armrest. This is now plugged into the Sat Nav inputs with the screen displaying song information... I only use this on longer trips as if forgets what track it was playing when I turn off the car. It is controlled by its original remote using this IR Extender. As a bonus, whilst it was apart, I reversed the manual mode gearshift, so it is now logical, and because everthing is now packed much tighter, a squeak that was in the cuphole area, has gone.. 2.5 hours well spent... -
That's what I heard as well.. Better to be too rich and use a bit more fuel than the lean out and grenade the engine...

Patrol transfer case does not have a "on demand" setting nor a centre diff, so cannot be used on tarmac in 4WD. I think that is what they were getting at. Patrol is part time 4WD, Stagea is AWD.. gotta love a bit of marketing... Whilst we are on how strong transmissions are, there is an off the shelf kit to fit Patrol gearbox and transfer case into a Landcruiser.. Apparently the LC transfer case is made of glass...

First time I did this road was in a Patrol, with my 78 year old father... I knew fear trying not to fall off the road.. He had a grand old time looking out the window...

They even ran once with toy dogs in the boot taped to the roll cage... Joke was that someone at Volvo has misheard the name of the compertition and thought that it was the British Towing Car chanmpionships... 850 T5 was very popular with Police and company car users in the UK, as Volvo in those days allowed any engine in any trim level car, so it was possible to buy brand new a fairly cheap 850 T5 with wind up windows and a povo pack interior. Friend of mine in the leasing industry told me that most of these cars got through a first set of front tyres in about 4,000 miles. Once the owners had got that out of their system the second and third set went on at more normal intervals... Great cars for their day, and even now...

New Turbo Charged Diesel 2-stroke For The Stag!
nickcorr replied to MyStag260's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
Only need the mechanical assistance to spin up these big heavy turbines on these low reving engines. For automotive, seperate small, light units are more efficient and give the same benefits... For these ships and train motors, we are talking about some massive units... The cathedral engines in the tankers red line at 50rpm, and actually run backwards for reverse.. they have turbos the size of my house... Got to love heavy engineering... -
Berwick Nissan also gave me about 300 questions when I wanted a new keyblank for the Skyline... Told them it was for a Micra, and even gave them a Micra vin.. that shut them up... This is so short sighted of them not to take our money... Toyota went through the same thing with not wanting to touch the imports, then the penny dropped about how much Soarer owners are prepared to pay for servicing and parts... Toyota NZ even import and sell Grey import vehilces through their Toyota Signature scheme..

New Turbo Charged Diesel 2-stroke For The Stag!
nickcorr replied to MyStag260's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
Ah, so you have seen the VW 1.4GT motor with both supercharger, for low down grunt, that then declutches and passes onto the turbo at higher revs... Lancia also had this on their rally cars in the 80s, super and turbo changers... and most importantly.... Nissan on the Micra... Aren't Nissan great!!! -
I thought that Ben had a series 2 350?
-
Actually, I meant Nissan website... M35 Stagea mk1 full website 8th link down on the left.. Make sure that you have Babel fish all warmed up and ready to go... But I do have UK R34 GT-R brochure....
-
According to the brochure... 3.133 for the Turbo AWD and the 3.0 RWD. 3.538 for the 2.5 NA AWD 4.363 for the 2.5 NA RWD (it's only a 4 speed as well).

and headlight cleaners.... Both are required for the Euro regs, and therefore ADR... Actually height adjustable headlamps, either manual or auto, are manditory for euro regs. Only exception is for cars with self leveling suspension like the Citroens.
-
Same as the one for the R33 GTS-t and lots of Commodes... According to the K&N box, model number; 33-2031-2
-
I also thought that it was the same as the 350Z auto transmission and might even be the same as the 5 speed auto in the Patrol and Pathfinder/Navara

You guys do not want to know how much I had to pay for my Goodyear Eagle F1's.... 235/50 18. Broke my heart to get them, but at least they are a top notch tyre.. Had to fit them for Vic Roads, as the Bridgestone 225/55 18 did not match the tire placard or the compliance paperwork... Dam typos.. At least the Bridgestones are now sitting in the shed ready for when the Goodyears wear out.
-
Vic Roads just made it up.... When he came to that part of the form, he looked around, had a bit of a think, and just wrote 1,550. "It can't weigh as much as a Falcon...." So does this mean that I have the lightest AR-X in Australia?
