Hi Chris, Would be interested as well. Is it using the OEM steering wheel controls, or are there some other options. Car I am buying at has a Momo wheel and I think does not fit the OEM controls... Also, how much do you think the kit would be? Thanks.

rego and stamp duty on an M35... I hope... -
Don't think that it has been mentioned before, but all AR-X come with standard HICAS. Just something I noticed from looking at under car pics. Finally got it confirmed from the archived Nissan Japan M35 pages. http://history.nissan.co.jp/STAGEA/M35/0110/SPEC/index.html

Spotted a silver M35 heading towards Melbourne this evening, just before Fountain Gate. Seemed to have the front windows tinted to match the rears....

Is A Stagea Okay For A Commuter Car?

I know, I know, but given that in 3 years the only mods on my R33 are a GTR exhaust, K&N Panel filter and the boost solenoid earthing, I really am looking at a stocker and the M35 is already producing way more torque than a modded RS4.. The other issue is, that the M35 is a bigger car than the C34 and that is the main reason for getting out of the R33 in the first place..

Please can someone FAST this. Many thanks

Looks like I need to start saving.... Thanks to iamhe77 coming round and letting me have a drive, I am now convinced that I need to get into a M35... Even the wife was convinced... Thanks Mate..

Thanks for all your comments... Does look like I will go to the Stag side, just because of the extra driver room... Also looks like thanks to iamhe77 I am going to try a M35 for size... The worry is that I will fall in love with it and have to franticly start saving the extra dosh over a C34... And then of course there will be all the fun and games getting the stereo sorted out... I have found these two on eBay and Carpoint, and they look a bit too good to be true... Bit worried as they are marked as private sales... Any comments? A M35; http://www.carpoint.com.au/used-car/NISSAN....aspx?State=VIC and also a C34 with the ideal spec of leather and power seats; http://www.carpoint.com.au/used-car/NISSAN....aspx?State=VIC

My much loved R33 4-door is getting too small.... The boot is not big enough for my baby daughter's stoller and any other parafanalia that she needs... Also at 193cm, the driving position is a bit tight. I have been able to cope for the last 3 years, but last week, after a 6 hour stretch, I need to address this.. So what to do? I love my R33, so to keep similar, but with a little more power to help with the extra weight and 4wd, a WC34 series 2 would be perfect. It's a little newer, a little bit more luxurious, a little bigger, quite a lot in the boot department, but will also be a little slower. A few questions. Is there more space for the driver in a Stagea, than in an R33? How much slower will I find it (stock), if at all, compared to a stock R33? Where are the child seat anchors mounted? ie. am I going to lost my entire boot, because there is a strap running across it... I really would like a M35, but at this time cannot justify the additional coin, and part of me is scared if anything mechanical when wrong, as that V6 turbo is a bit of an orphan at the moment... Final comment... So why should I keep with the Nissans, my fourth if I do get a Stagea, rather than goto the dark side and a Legnum? All comments/input greatfully recieved...

Yes, I agree, price is a little on the high side.... I had one for 140,000 trouble free kms... Great car, got Repco to service it every 10,000 or 20,000 km, depending on cash availability, and the car didn't care. Keep an eye on the brakes, but nothing expensive there. No problems at all with the air, as good at 200,000 km as when we first got it at 60,000 km. Average, not best, economy over the 140,000 km was 9.1 l/100km. Gearbox is also strong and velour interior very hard wearing. Only got rid of it, because we now have a family and needed a few more airbags, wife now has Saab 9-5 which uses way more fuel, from a smaller engine, and don't even ask me about the servicing....

Don't blame Nissan!!! This is a tax office directive. Basically, the vehicles can be brought in and used for a year. After that year, they have to be destroyed, and on production of proof that the vehicle has been crushed, they get a nice tax refund on the car... Has been going on for years with lots of really nice cars going to the crusher. Aston's, Jag's etc.... The pre build and product test cars often do not have complience plates and therefore cannot be sold anyway. In another twist, Vic Roads have also changed their rules and PT cars can now only be driven by employees of that manufacturer. They now have a Marketing Eval type rego.

LCT has been increased to 33% is already included in the Nissan RRP of $148,800 and $152,800 for the Premium. The LCT increase, and general LCT bun fight in Canberra, was one of the reasons for the delay in the release of pricing. It is illegal to advertise a car price in AUS exclusive of GST and LCT. Metallic paint is $1,750 (inc LCT), but "Super Silver" metallic is a BMW like $3,000. Dealer delivery is where the dealers, rather than Nissan Aus are having a good gouge..

I have flown into Haneda, but on a domestic flight from Osaka with ANA. Haneda is primarily a domestic airport, but I do know they are chasing more international business. The main thing that you need to look at, is the additional cost of the two air tickets if you decide to route through another country, as I do not think that this will be possible with a single airline. What might be a good alternative is to fly to Osaka with JAL or Qantas/Jetstar and then get a cheap internal flight with one of the Japanese airlines into Haneda. The other alternative, is just to fly to Narita, the main Tokyo airport, and then get the train or limo bus into Tokyo central. This is about JPY 3,000 and takes about an hour on the train or 1.5 on the bus. But you will have a great time, I love visiting Japan, and it is excellent if you have a local guide...

Interestingly Holden were exporting VT or VX Commodores to Brazil at the begining of the decade. Changes were limited to upgraded fuel lines and a different engine map. So 5 years ago E25 was a no brainer... E85 motors are commonly available in the US from 4 cylinder Focus up to 6.2l V8 GM engines, hence the E85 badges on the Holden's at Sydney Motor Show. This is promoted as an emissions saver, as well as a way of reducing the reliance on oil. E20 is the new buzzword in Thailand, as a way of reducing emissions as well.. Good on you for having the bottle to try something different... Now if Toyota came out with a E100 or E85 Camry, rather than that Hybrid marketing exercise... then people might take more notice... Was in Brazil 13 years ago and drove a E100 VW Voyager, or something like that... Carb engine, started like a pig, but ran all day. Owner said that the only real issue was having to regularly drain the water traps in the fuel system. His joke was that his car ran on Alcohol.. Like the driver....

Specs and prices are pretty much fixed for now.... A nice Red Australia spec vehicle, not US, not Japanese, will be on the Nissan stand at the Sydney Motor Show from Thursday... Aparently...

RRP is inclusive of LCT so that reduces the quote by $22,066.... This is true for all vehicles sold in Australia hence the whole fiasco with the will they won't they increase in the LCT rate.. Even dealers did not know how much to sell "luxury" cars for... Stamp duty is $7,640, normal Nissan delivery is about $1,650 and metallic is around $1,750 or $3,000 for Silver. Any dealer that tries adding LCT on top is actually being dishonest..

Yes competely different.... The Ferrari F1 gearbox, is a normal manual box with some clever software and actuators to operate the gear selection and clutch. The Alfa Selespeed gearbox is actually a development of the original Ferrari F1 system. The BMW SMG and Toyota SMT are very similar in this respect. The GTR transmission has more in common with the VW DSG, Audi S Tronic and BMW M-DCT. With these systems the transmission contains two clutch packs. One looks after odd number gears, the other even number gears. As the car accelerates in first, the transmission has already selected second gear, and so at the change point, all it needs to do is to declutch first, and engage the clutch on second. Once this has been done, the transmission can pre select third gear and so on. This allows a shift to be made in 8 milliseconds. That compares with 150 milliseconds for the F1 transmission in an Enzo. With the GTR using wet clutches, the life expectency should be higher than the F1 type clutches that get absolutely trashed during parking, and also by people driving them like an auto, holding the car stationary on hills using the transmission rather than the brakes.

Didn't know that Rex's were geared to allow that kind of top speed. Was always lead to believe that they hit the rev limiter in top at about 210km/h. This was always explained as one of the reasons that they were so quick, because the gearing was so short. Also no mention of the fact that this guy was a P plater in a STi. Should have been a fine for that as well. Love to know where the money to get the car came from.

Japanese weather does not hit these one off hot days, but it does get very hot and humid for weeks at a time... That is why Japanese cars have much better cooling systems and air conditioners than Euro cars of the same age.... Most of us own cars that are over 10 years old, you have to expect them to get a bit upset when it gets hot... Citroen CX aircon was so weak, that for Japanese and Australian markers, twin air conditionsers were fitted.... They added another one in the boot... It is also once of the reasons that the Commodore grew away from the Opel versions they were based on from the VL. Holden needed more space for the larger Aus spec air con units.

Whilst the ADR's are unique to Australa, many of them are based on the European standards. In fact some of the ADR's are the ECE documentation with an ADR cover page... Less and less vehicles are actually tested in Australia for compliance, with the importers usually just submitting their European paperwork for certification. Even the child seat tethers are not unique to Oz as Canada uses them as well. Some of it is a can of worms as Mercs, BMWs, Subarus etc. are supplied into Oz with the excellent ISOFIX child seat hardpoints, but it is actually illegal to have an ISOFIX child seat, as it does not meet Australian standards...
