  1. Bugger.... Anyone in Victoria??
  2. That "production car" ran a one off hand built 427ci engine very, very loosely based on a production motor. It was supposed to go into production, but as the retail price creept up past AUD 200,000 the entire project was canned. It was already modded out of its mind and was never going to work in Aus. The hope had been that the Arabs would have taken them as Chey Lumina's. The only part of this car that ever went into production were the trick rear Monaro type lights you often see fitted to VT/VY Commdores.
  3. When will this happen!! Going up there on January 2nd, and was planning on driving quickly whilst there......
  4. Hi, looking for a R33 GT-R stock exhaust catback to fit a R33 GTS-T. Does anyone in Victoria have one of these taking up space in their shed/garage...
  5. When I lived in the UK, and drove around in 10-15 year old hot hatches, I generally expected to spend nearly the same annually on insurance as I purchased the car for... UK depritiation is much, much higher than here, but I was spending about GBP 1,000 (AUD 2,500) on the car plus GBP 800 (AUD 2,000) for the third party fire and theft insurance. My last car in the UK, before migrating to OZ was a GBP 300 Citroen BX GTi with ABS, alloys, power everything. Cost me GBP 700 to insure it, but it was quick and economical. Sold the door mirror for GBP 50 to the guy who used to service it, and let him keep the rest of the car when I left...
  6. That exhaust would be perfect for my car... If only it was in Melbourne.... Good luck with the sale!
  7. Absolutely top car. I have driven heaps of these as rentals and loan cars. It is a fantastically relaxing car to drive, and looks good with the standard 17s. Slap on a bit of chrome from the Nissan accessories if you want to be different. There are some out there for low 20K if you look. If you can find an ST with leather and power seats, it will be excellent. No need to pay for an autochanger in the glovebox and sunroof if you ask me. If want to be really different, there should be some Japanese Nismo gear for it (sold as the Teana) especially in the area of the rear bar, to show off the twin exhausts. Now if I sell my R33 GTS-T, the A32 Maxima and the K11 Micra I might yet buy one of these.... Actually used two J31 Max's as our wedding cars last year.....
  8. Japanese law requires then to be in the car, so that they can be positioned to warn other drivers if you breakdown etc. I was under the impression that they should be removed before the vehicles are shipped overseas, and definitly removed for compliance.....
  9. Does an R33 GTR exhaust fit as a cat back on an R33 GTS-T? If it does, is it a worthwhile upgrade whilst keeping a "stock" look from the rear? Or do I bite the bullet and have a 3" custom system made up with an oval rear muffler and twin tips. I have not found a bolt on system with this type of rear muffler. They all seem to be 4" cannons.... What do people think.
  10. Hi BT, looking for a catback for a SII R33 GTS-T Sedan. would like an oval muffler, not cannon, twin tips if poss. New or used.. Can collect from Melbourne
  11. My factory stock R33 SII 4dr auto gives me an average fuel consumption of about 11.6 l/100km which is about 430km on a 50l fill up. Any idea how that will change when I fit a 3" catback and K&N panel filter?
  12. Going back to the 5 Series, it is worth remembering that normal ULP in most of Europe is 95 Octane, slightly lower than the 96 Octane leaded 4 star that was the norm before it was phased out. Would love to see the inside of his high quality German motor when they finally have to pull it down to remove the crud that the inferiour 91 octane detergent packs leave behind. That is why all the Euro Boxes are designed to run on Aus Premium with Holden even being honest enough to publish that the TS Astra would drop 4 kW on ULP vs 95 Octane. And for the Aussie V8 boys, all the Holden 6.0 motors now specify 98 octane the same as us "rice burners"... Basically if you want to drive any kind of quality or performance car you must be willing to pay for quality servicing, tyres, brakes and petrol. If you don't want to, then there are plenty of identical Hyundai Excels and Kia Rios that will be cheap to run.....
  13. Is it off the car yet? If so any pics?
  14. As gtst1976 said, just run the heater and the aircon at the same time. Set the temp to 20 odd, make sure the air flow is on windscreen, and bingo, demisted windows during the cold wet weather. The air-con removes the moisture (humidity) from the car on a warm day, and it will also remove the moisture (fog) from the car on a cold day.
