Rb25 Turbo Upgrade, All Dyno Results
jezzerrr replied to Nacho Vidal's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
-Stock ecu -12 psi -Bp Ultimate -Pod, 3 inch turbo back, dump pipe, Otherwise stock 185rwkw in shootout. The guy found a dead short in the o2 sensor, so it is diabled for now. idle was a joke, so I had to disable the secondary air valve (or whatever it's called) until i get a new one. Fuel economy went from about 12.8L/100k highway cycle at best to 11.6L/100k towing a trailer a 120kph! not bad at all. dyno attached -
Broken Shaft On Turbo >>> Way To Remove Compressor Wheel?
jezzerrr replied to jezzerrr's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I'll have another look, I may also be able to get an easy out into the compressor end of the shaft, and undo the nut that way. if that fails, I'll try the other options. cheers -
That I bought from someone with the assurance that it was hiflowed, and just needed new seals. For the price I didn't really care whether it was hiflowed or not, basically just wanting to learn more about turbos. ANYWAY, cutting a long story short, while knocking off the turbine housing, I broke the shaft, which I'm 99% sure is ceramic anyway (given how easily it snapped, it's colouration and the surface finish). Is there even such a thing as a hiflow that only replaces the compressor wheel? So my question is, how can I remove the compressor wheel? The most obvious option to me is using an easy out tapped into the turbine end of the shaft, but I'm not sure how much the ceramic would let me do that. anyone know of any other possibilities? cheers Jeremy

you're talking about speedo binnacles i'm guessing. most likely reason is to sell it aftermarket.

I found a good cheap boost controller for $22!!!
jezzerrr replied to CEF11E's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Get one of these valves!!! bloody brilliant! never knew the boost could come on so strong so early! might have something to do with the dump pipe I installed too, but the boost just gets there early and is steady as a rock. delivery time was 4-5 odd days from payment, including a weekend. you seriously cant go wrong buying this. Thanks Mark for still supplying a brilliant product for such a good price! -
ah yes... I filled it through the shifter hole... I'm dead sure there wasn't any left in it, I have it up on ramps at the front and the drain hole is right at the back of the gear box. I might drop it back on the ground and take the filler plug out, and see what I get If theres no flow i'll just add more oil. Thanks mate

Would have to agree here. especially if you are buying a bov over $400. not saying you are tho. Installing the bov is piss easy. I'd recommend having a mate that knows what he's doing install it, If you cant nut it out yourself. search google too, you're bound to find a picture of your bov installed. as for your last question, if you cant figure this one out.... sell your car. and if you have a gtr, I'm starting to get scared
-
Not necessarily... some types of boost controller are better for allowing the turbo to produce more boost earlier in its curve. They actually control boost better than the stock solenoid. So it's not really the increase in boost that does it, it's more of a "side effect" of the new boost control. That's my understanding anyway.
-
yeah i raised my eyebrow a bit too... maybe he means the standard bov wont cop higher boost levels without lifting? dunno. I dont think that boosting up to 10-12 psi without a fmic is really that big of an issue. but I personally wouldn't do 12psi without a PFC so I could monitor knock etc. will the 33's intercooler not handle 12 psi of boost?
-
the only way to contest it would be to get all the facts. you will need to get the speedo tested, that would be the main thing you need. the bad part is that your speedo shows faster than you were actually going, not slower. go to a solcitor/lawyer and see if you have a case, that's about all you can do.

Stock Bov Leak? Or Just My Imagination?
jezzerrr replied to WazR32GTSt's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I had the same thing on mine. installed an aftermarket bov and it's still just as noisy, but at least i have the peace of mind knowing that my bov isn't leaking. that can lead to very bad things if you wind the boost up. the quick way to diagnose it would be to slip a thin plate under the bov, blocking it off entirely and seeing if you have the same noise. you can run wihout a bov, but there's contention between whether this causes long term damage to your turbo or not. with 140K on the clock i'd say it would be a fairly safr bet the spring in the stock bov is worn out. -
Using Atf As A Fuel/injector Cleaner
jezzerrr replied to jezzerrr's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
holy crap really!!! I'm so going to do that tonight!!! Idiot I'd appreciate if you didn't turn my legitimate thread into just another spam thread, thanks. Take your "phat" arse to boostcruising if that's your thing. There is evidence that it actually works, mechanics have been doing it for years. Jeremy. -
Using Atf As A Fuel/injector Cleaner
jezzerrr replied to jezzerrr's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
yeah as you can see i'm still learning too. my laymans understanding suggests that the stock ecu would not have the ability to tune to different flow injectors, regardless if they're flowed stockies or other. -
Using Atf As A Fuel/injector Cleaner
jezzerrr replied to jezzerrr's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
yeah i'm doing the whole bit, turbo, ecu etc. can you even run hiflowed injectors with the standard ecu? I'm pretty sure you cant yeah? -
Using Atf As A Fuel/injector Cleaner
jezzerrr replied to jezzerrr's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
yeah the way I figure it, it cant hurt to put a bottle through anyway. I just have to wait till i'm in the vicinity of a place that stocks it. I luuuuurve living in the sticks <_< I kinda broke one of the little legs off the pintle cap too from what I can find they're mainly to stop residue build up, so it should be fine in the interim. -
Using Atf As A Fuel/injector Cleaner
jezzerrr replied to jezzerrr's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Hey Busky Thanks for the advice, yeah I've been doing a fair bit of researching on the net today (god i love work on the weekends), and as always, I have found that it's not as simple as it first seems. The U/S bath that I have access to is actually in the lab here at work, but yeah essentially I think it's the same jobbie as the jewellery cleaners. why dont they have an injector rail here dammit! lol. I'm pretty much sure now that I'm going to get the injectors hiflowed now anyway. I did take injector 1 out today and found the nozzle to be completely spotless under the microscope. The inlet filter had a bit of junk on it, so I think I'll just run some of that techron gear through it, if I do anything, before hiflowing them. -
Using Atf As A Fuel/injector Cleaner
jezzerrr replied to jezzerrr's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I got quoted $300 for ultrasonic cleaning by driftking in brissie. $700 for a service made me fairly sure they were rip off merchants. I'm going to pull an injector out today and have a look at it under a microscope today, see if i can see anything. I think I'll just bite the bullet and pull the lot out and ultrasonic bath em. Thanks for the replies guys, putting oil through my system didn't really seem like the best thing to do... Out of interest, what is the price of hiflowing injectors? What sort of kw are they good for? Is it worth it or is it better just to buy newies? -
I've heard a few stories of putting a cup of ATF in your fuel working a treat. anybody know of any draw backs other than the obvious ie pinging etc? apparently it does a better job than using injector cleaner but.. that's also made for the job... I have a ultrasonic bath I can gain access to, but achieving the same result just by driving the car seems alot more appealing than having it off the road and apart for a few days. Jeremy

Hi guys I'm buying this turbo for a damn good price, just had a couple of q's - Does anyone know the specs of turbos hiflowed by Mr Turbo? if it's any guide it has a six blade compressor section... The seller has said that the turbo has an oil leak on the compressor side, and he has been told it's just a case of getting a seal kit from Nissan and installing it (he no longer owns a skyline, hence the reason he is selling). Sounds about right to me, just wanted to consult the turbo gurus as to whether it is this straight forward? From the pics that I've seen everything else seems to be in perfect condition. cheers Jeremy

I think I'd go for an s14 over a 32... sheerly for the peace of mind tho, I cant see you needing to spend as much on an s14. if you can afford 16K, import an sII r33
