  1. Another demonstration how the addition, or removal, of a comma can change the entire meaning of a sentence.
  2. Marsss - got other plans, but if they fall through tomorrow night I'll come have a look
  3. I'd concur with the moving parts thing. If you get chinese exhausts, where its just pipes, they tend to be of a reasonable quality. Its hard to do them wrong. (Note, I'm not talking about their mufflers and resonators, but just piping like manifolds / extractors and Y pipes). But get anything that requires, you know, tolerances and stuff to be made to exacting specifications and every day's a Friday in the factory.
  4. To be fair, Powerplay also ensures that all Customs and Duties are paid so everything is above board and you don't get hassled by the government down the line. A lot of these online brokers etc don't. I'm sure you can get cheaper from elsewhere, but you take your chances.
  5. Did the GT-R win or lose?
  6. First it was Steve Guttenberg, now its these motherf**king flowers!
  7. JetPilot makes sense, though. Remember the old American jet cars of the 60's? They were great when powering on in a straight line, but the guys designing them found out the hard way that they didn't want to stop in a hurry, even when you came off the throttle. Cars that don't stop or turn very well sounds like your typical ute to me.
  8. The V35 has a VQ, not a VG. As for the chassis designation corresponding to the engine, it fits for the Skyline but at the same time why would Nissan use that chassis naming convention just for one series of car? Their engine naming convention is consistent across all their modern products (2 letters / engine displacement / camshafts / EFI / Turbo) yet not every Nissan has the chassis letter corresponding to the engine. It doesn't fit with the mentality of large companies. If you have a naming convention, you make it consistent across everything you do. That it happens to fit the Skyline just seems like a fluke; a similar urban myth to RB standing for "Race Bred". You could just as well say that the R31-34 chassis were built with an "R" model (GTS-R for the R31, GT-R for the R32-34) in mind when Nissan first designed them, whereas the current generation Skyline was never going to get an R model. Thus it would never "earn" the right to have an R chassis, so they had to give it another name. Its just as plausible, and just as unlikely.
  9. I reckon the kits look gay. Its not too bad on that MX5, but on the Z33 and V35 is looks ungainly. Also, there's nothing uglier than a car that's bodykitted up to look like another car. There's a video of the DAMD Black X Metal Z33 Roadster here: http://www.nihoncarandbike.com/en/news-339...DAMD,+HDTV.html
  10. Considering the three presenters have other jobs and are high profile on the show, what makes you think the Stig would be doing it as their only gig? The times are way too inconsistent. An E46 M3 running the same time as a 535d? Even if you accepted that an M3 was as slow as a 350Z or RX8, there's no way anyone would reasonably believe that BMW's most reknown sports coupe is as quick (or as slow) as one of their diesel powered sedans when in the hands of the same professional driver.
  11. Dear sir or madam. Can you please help me? I was considering buying a Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 Roadster or a Suzuki Cuppucino with a turbo Hayabusa engine conversion. I was wondering which one was quicker and more practical as a daily driver / tow vehicle? Thank you in advance, Some random idiot
  12. Wasn't officially driven by the Stig. It was driven by some touring car racer (who could be the Stig, for all we know). And it was up against the FQ400, not the "standard" Evo. That said, I'd take Top Gear times with a grain of salt. On their test track, they have the Mazda RX8, Nissan 350Z and BMW M3 with equal lap times. I find that very hard to believe. Admittedly their course is flat, but a 350Z is a bit faster than an XR8 on a non-touge style road, and the M3 is significantly faster than both. I get the feeling that the Stig isn't a single driver. They just grab whoever's available at the time and willing to do it, but since they need to pretend that the times are being set by a "benchmark driver" they can't let on that its a whole bunch of people so they hide the identity.
  13. OMG! A Z-Tune Choro Q! And various Skyline ones here.
  14. Nice. Try the "Next Skyline" subforum, but as the cars are quite new in Australia there aren't too many owners. You'd be just as well off finding a US-based G35 forum for information. I moderate the Australian section of 350Z-Tech, which has a strong Australian contingent of 350Z / V35 owners as well as being a US-based site. Some solid info on the cars on there, since the Z33 and V35 share platforms. See here. Looks like the answer is "no".
  15. Yeah, with all those mods you're going to want management. I'm guessing that your rear bar is filthy right now above the exhaust. A SAFC is an Air/Fuel controller. It splices into the wire that the air flow meter reads from, and modifies the signal going to the ECU. By fooling the ECU, it allows you to adjust the mixture. While not ideal (a proper ECU would be better, since you can then adjust timing as well) it would be a good start. But its also a dead-end stopgap fix - it'd be better on a light tune car with little to no mods. You can't make as much power as your mods will give you since you can't tune all the parameters, and if you continue to modify then it won't give your tuner the control they need to set up your engine properly. And since an ECU does everything a SAFC does and more, when you do replace the ECU your SAFC becomes dead weight. I'd suggest saving up and buying a PowerFC. It may cost a lot more, but you get a lot more.
  16. Choro Q FTW! And Q-Steer! They've got a few Skylines, including an R34 with police livery.
  17. What's the bet that if you message him, he'll tell you that he's moved to the UK and taken the car with him but he'll ship it back if you advance him some cash to a Western Union account? Its got scam written all over it.
  18. All the Evo's past the VI run AYC. They'll smash a GTS4, which doesn't even have proper ATTESSA, around the bends. The Evo VIII and IX run ACD as well (can't remember if the VII does or not), which will see them even further in the distance. Technically speaking, the AYD / ACD combo in the modern Evos are the most advanced AWD drivetrains in the world. Far superior, from a technical standpoint, to ATTESSA. Stock for stock, an Evo is at least as quick as a GT-R of the same age. On the right road, its quicker. Ultimate power wise on an open road that will let you exploit that power the GT-R can nevar lose, but bang for buck on the road or the smaller Australian racetracks its hard to find any car that'll outrun an Evo. As for value, if you can afford to do light tune mods to an Evo VI or a significantly modified GTS4 I'd take the Evo. If you can barely afford an Evo but you can comfortably afford to mod a GTS4, buy the GTS4. The latter might only be as quick as the stock Evo you're scraping to afford, but it'll probably be more fun for the speed. And you'll have cash in pocket in case you break something.
  19. The Bose setup has been around for a while. Motor Magazine did a review of it around a year ago (at least). Apparently the biggest problem against its adoption is not the unknown reliability, nor the expense. Its the fact that Bose will not license the technology to anyone. They want the OEMs to contract the design for each car to them. They give Bose the specs of the vehicle, and Bose then designs the suspension and ships the finished product back to the OEM. Apparently OEMs don't want to relinquish the design and engineer for such a core part of the car. They'd prefer to be told how to make the system, pay for the IP, and then implement the setup themselves. With what Bose is asking, they'll only get a little feedback in how they want the car to ride / handle, but Bose does all the setup and testing and just ships a finished product back.
  20. Different system. HSV's MRC uses a magnetic fluid inside the damper, which by passing a current through can adjust its viscosity and hence rate. The Bose system works the same way a speaker does, but instead of using magnets to move a coil to generate vibrations in the air it works in reverse. It uses a magnets to resist the movement of a coil. They sound similar, but its not really. In the MRC system the magnet affects the damper fluid, which resists the spring. In the Bose system, the magnets resist the spring directly.
  21. Two. Andrew Handmer was driving Daz's S14a - he helps work on the car. Greg Boyle (aka Stretch) is the guy that runs Autosport Engineering in Kirrawee. He had an RB26DETT powered S13 for a while, but that engine got put into a GT-R later so I'm not sure what engine is was running to pull that 1:49.
  22. True. We don't get the US absolute top-spec model (which came with the RAYS wheels as standard, and their Touring had the cast 18" rims that are on our Track) but, at the same time, all of our 350Zs get the Bose, LSD, leather, etc.
  23. There always has to be an exception to the rule Yeah, that is true about the S15. Its the same problem with the DC5 Integras - the Type-R for Australia was the Type-S in Japan. But, more often than not, we get the top-spec stuff. We don't get the smaller engined cars. We tend to get only the highest trim levels unless the retailer is chasing the low-end price point.
  24. http://www.topgear.com/content/features/st...ories/09/1.html This feature on their web site, regarding the crash, is also pretty cool.
  25. If you're referring to DriftDaz in the S14a, the last time we were out at Eastern Creek he outran V8 ex-racecars.
