  1. Given the context that I wrote this in, did you even bother to read how a STS Turbo kit works before replying? The STS turbo setup would be less efficient than a centrifugal supercharger, and its not exactly designed to chase big power.
  2. If engine bay space was an issue, I'd still prefer a centrifugal supercharger to a turbo that's located on the side of the car. It'd be far more efficient, and its about as non-invasive as this turbo setup.
  3. Write a letter to the RTA, and try and appeal it. It won't cost you that much and it might work. I've found the RTA to be relatively receptive to this kind of thing.
  4. Funny you should mention it, but it cropped up on another site I frequent recently. Squires Turbo Systems
  5. When I put my e-tag on the windshield it comes with an isopropyl alcohol wipe to clean the glass before you apply the holder. I wiped the area around where I mounted it liberally, and it didn't really leave a film or anything on the glass (that I could see). A few days later when it was pissing down raining, the area I cleaned was the only place where it didn't fog up. I need to find some place that sells that stuff in bulk for cheap. Fog-X didn't work for me (I found it fogs up worse) but I might have overapplied it.
  6. Well, I manage to get extractors for the Z. :-) Shame those Sparco boots weren't quite what I was looking for.
  7. I should be in attendance.
  8. I found the RT215s hooked up better than regular street tyres at the strip.
  9. General Motors is considering a shareholder proposal to join America's biggest carmaker with Nissan and Renault. Kirk Kerkorian, General Motors' biggest individual shareholder, has urged the struggling car maker to unite with Carlos Ghosn's Nissan and Renault. Kerkorian's Tracinda Corporation, the owner of a 9.9 per cent stake in GM, said in a letter to GM chief executive Rick Wagoner that the Japanese and French car companies were receptive to buying a significant minority interest. GM said it would consider the proposal, and Nissan and Renault said they were open to expanding their alliance if GM's board approved. Source: Drive.com.au
  10. Sydney has dominated a list of the country's top 10 vehicle theft hot spots, with Mount Druitt, followed by Blacktown and Liverpool, the most likely place to have your car stolen. Eight of the top 10 suburbs were in greater Sydney, with only Melbourne's CBD and the Hobart suburb of Bellerive representing the rest of the country, a survey by the insurer AAMI has found. 11. You should be able to get the CD player fixed under warranty? Pretty sure there's a TSB out for it, and I know a NSCC member got hers replaced.
  12. My attitude is that you should never "stretch" to buy a depreciating asset like a car. You probably shouldn't stretch to buy an appreciating asset either, unless the payoff is big and its relatively short-term. Its great to own your dream car, but there's no point having it if you're going to f**k the car up by not servicing it properly and regularly, or f**k yourself up because you can't afford to eat / take care of yourself. What's the point of owning a car you can't afford to drive? If Australia's public transport infrastructure was half decent I'd consider having a "weekend only" car, but its not the case. And in that case I certainly wouldn't buy something that had me stretch my finances either.
  13. Personally, I wouldn't use an airfield, though. Runways are inherently flat, and that's boring. I've got this dream of building a Nurburgring Nordschleife-like "proving ground" track. Every type of corner imaginable (increasing radius, decreasing radius, varying camber, double and triple apex, etc), with surface changes and massive gradient changes. My plan would be to build it in a strip mine, so after a 3 km long main straight (which would let any car V-Max given the open, decreasing radius turn that feeds onto it and the fact that it runs downhill for the last few hundred metres) you'd have a speed-bowl like banked Turn 1 so you could keep the foot planted and do 400km/hr around this curve in your Veyron. That straight would also double up as a quarter mile and standing kilometre drag strip.
  14. If you owned it, you could set your own rules. The GT-R has the right of way. The Airbus can give way.
  15. I hope this comes out and its (relatively) affordable. A guy on 350Z-Tech will sell his Roadster to buy it, and return it to stock. I've got first dibs on his APS TT kit if he does. Speaking of which, I haven't seen you on there for a while.
  16. The only thing better than having your own supercar manufacturer is having a private racetrack to drive them on. When I grow up, I want to be just like the guy who owns Ascari.
  17. More pics (including the concept car interior shots) here: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...howtopic=110382
  18. Full article:
  19. The new 350kW-plus GT-R super-car will be released in Japan in 2007. It will be on American showroom floors in 2008 with no final decision regarding if and when the GT-R will return to Australian shores. Source: Nissan Australia
  20. Does the Xede act as a full OEM ECU replacement, or have a speed cut defender? The OEM ECU has a 250km/hr limiter, and its not impossible to tag it given a long enough straight.
  21. That kit is soft. You want this one: http://www.airpowersystems.com.au/350z/aps...ts-09/index.htm
  22. Yeah, the last thing you want to do is start a feud with the neighbours. Things will escalate if they think you've got the cops to lean on them, and especially if they're f**ked off their nuts on drugs they'll do shit that no reasonable person would ever do because they're not rational. I mean, we'd arrange a SAU lynch mob to sort the asshole out afterwards, but by then the damage would be done. Ask the cops if they can keep your report anonymous, and if you PM some other members the details we can call the cops up to rack up his tally of complaints..... And when they ask who reported them, the cops can reply with "a whole bunch of people" instead of just you.
  23. $1500 for stock front shocks? Tell 'em they're dreaming! A full set of new Koni adjustable dampers for my car cost me around that. And my car had only been released to market for around a year, so performance parts were hard to find and not particularly cheap. But if its with all the bits listed, then as Merlin says its not too bad.
  24. If you're not planning on being a hero on the track, understeer is a good thing. Understeer is safer than oversteer for a novice to middling driver, which is why practically every OEM tunes their cars to understeer when approaching the limit. I noticed from your other threads that you're going for looks after some kind of major performance benefit, and cars with massive rear tyres always look hot. So don't worry about it. As long as your fronts aren't too narrow, in your case its not a major problem to have a wider rear. I've gone from a staggered tyre size to the same all-round, but then I do like thrashing it around corners. (and, as an aside, when my current street tyres wear out I'll be returning to a staggered size for the phat looks, yo)
  25. Even if you don't have the plates, if you've got the colour and series of the Commodore I'd report it to the cops anyway. Hopefully they can keep an eye out for it, and lean on the f**ker if they ever see him driving past. RBT him, get him to pop the bonnet, etc..... Glad to hear that you're OK though.
