All the 06 350Z's run 18x8's. On previous year models, the entry level Touring spec had 17" rims with the staggered sizes listed above. The Track and the Roadsters ran the 18's, and the RAYS optional wheels were the same size, but forged for extra lightness. And to answer the original question, if they'll fit an S14 Silvia (which I have seen) I can't see any issues putting them on a Skyline.

I was down at Wakefield last year, and some hero brought out his R33 GT-R on 20" rims (looked like the Tempe Tyres old promo car, actually). Long story short, he slid off the road and shredded 2 of his tyres. Wakefield isn't "a few kays" from anywhere useful, and definitely not from where the owner was from. And good luck finding tyres for 20" rims in Goulburn. He ended up borrowing / buying 2 space savers to limp back to Sydney. -

Its been raining in Melbourne, and I have to say my Bridgestone Potenza RE-01's are sucking some major ass right now. There's so little grip in the rear end its not funny. I've tried to run high pressures, cold pressures, and the rear just won't stick. In the dry they're not exactly magic either. -
I'm at the F1 at the moment (<3 iBurst). The display looks pretty good. Too bad that the weather is being so f**king variable right now.

AUD$60K? No way...that would make the GT-R cheaper than a 350Z, and there's no way they could build the new GT-R for that price point. USD$60K might be possible (the 350Z costs around USD$32K) but I still think it'll be upstream of that. Carlos Ghosn said that this thing is meant to be the ultimate sports car with all the technology that Nissan can throw at it, to keep it as one of the quickest production cars on the market. That won't come cheap.

How about you stop "punching second" and bring the clutch up a little slower (or engaging the throttle a little slower) once you've selected second? What's wrong with backing off the throttle when you change gear, like you're meant to? You're more likely to light up your tyres in first gear than second. Its simple physics. If you've got traction in first gear, then its not (in itself) a tyre / suspension problem. Its sounding more like the problem is you. Aside from that, run a set of super soft tyres with low air pressure and dial your rear dampers as softly as possible. Check your wheel alignment. Turn down the power.

My mate picked up an Evo IX recently. The A046's are the OEM tyre. They're not quite a Comp-R; more like a competitor to the RT615 / Potenza RE070s that the current STis run. -
Neither. Plane jane rotors would be the best. Even putting the slots into rotors introduces a weak point (as I found out the hard way), and since you're not braking hard enough to see the performance gain you're paying for something you just won't use.

Not a coupe. Or otherwise I would have nominated a French hot hatch (which would have come to mind first, but yes the Mini was first). Hotting up an econobox runabout is one thing; by the time the Euros hit the sports coupe class of vehicle its normally RWD. Aside from that Fiat Turbo Coupe and the Audi TT there aren't too many European bum dragging coupes. And both of those cars handle like shit. Mind you, if my recollection serves me right I read some reviews that said the original Minis didn't handle that well. It had great response due to all the weight being between the wheels, and low inertia due to its lack of weight / size, but it was apparently an understeery little thing so from a "handling" definition it wasn't that good. Kind of like stock WRX's. Great grip and acceleration, but technically they handle like crap. -

The 4WD Porsche 996 weighs about 150kg more than its 2WD counterpart. And given how anal Porsche is about weight, they probably would have gotten it as light as they could have afforded in a $250,000 car..... -
Its not the replacement GT-R, but then that thing won't be wearing Skyline badges anyway. Stiffer suspension does not equate to better handling. Especially when you're using some dodgy chunk of wood to stop your springs from behaving in the manner the engineers designed. -

You're right. It must be sound deadener. Because the driveshaft, rear diff, rear tail shafts etc probably wouldn't add any extra weight, and the turbocharger and its associated plumbing are made of ultra-light materials that wouldn't register a blip on the scales. -
If this happens, I reckon we should just go buy a whole bunch of cheap-shit speakers from Jaycar and aim them at the sound meters. If the system pings every motorist that passes (or even when no vehicle passes) then the government isn't going to be able to issue the the infringements. Just get gear cheap enough that you're not going to care about losing it when the uniformed tax collectors inevitably come and take it away.

The MPS will have more traction off the line, and the Commodore V8s run the world's widest gear ratios. Standing kilometre the Commodore will smash the MPS, but quarter mile I reckon it'll be close. Love to see some actual dragstrip numbers though. -

The R32 GT-R was Nissan's response to the Porsche 959. They modelled ATTESSA's performance on the Porsche's drivetrain in having an active variable torque split. While they ultimately did it longer and better, like most Japanese automotive legends its borderline whether you can call it "innovative" or "original". If you look at all the Japanese hero cars, they're all compared to something European. The NSX has always been called the Japanese Ferrari. The WRX always gets compared to the Audi quattro, as could the Mitsubishi GTO. The Supra and RX-7 are a big power RWD coupe. Britain practically invented the roadster that the MX-5 is now synonymous with.... To throw a curve ball, I think the most innovative and original Japanese car would be the Integra Type-R, since no-one else has managed to pull off a FWD coupe that handles well and people would actually want to use for motorsport (as opposed to most FWD cars that people race only because they can't afford anything better). I can't think of anything from Europe that comes close. The Fiat Coupe, by all accounts, handles like shit.
