Need Advice From All U Drifters
CrazyNuts replied to suburban drifter's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Hi guys (and gals) I've been a member for a while on SUA. More of a lurker than a poster but I'm starting to look into buying a drift car myself. As the OP, I don't want to spend more than $8000 for a turn key drift car. What other things should I take into consideration when buying a drift car? I have NO track drift experience and I'm not ashamed to admit that I more than likely SUCK at it. Hopefully in the future this can change. I don't want an expencive to vehicle and I definitely don't need anything flash. What would be the "sweet spot" in RWKW for drifting? Sorry for all the questinos. I swear I did a search and this is the only thread that came up. -
Hey Brad It had been a few months. How's the Pintara going? Regards Krys

YAY After 4 weeks of painful dealings with the Department of Transport the vehicles are FINALLY in Brad's posesion. Enjoy them mate. I hope your sister appreciates all the hard work you've put in to this. Hey...does that mean i get a +1 for "Trader Rating"? Regards Krys

Brad Just in case you missed my call, I forgot I have an appointment today at 6:30. I know I asked if you could move the vehicles today, but is it possible we could postpone till tomorrow? I can't cancell my appointment. I hope it doesn't inconvenience you too much. Cheers Krys

GONE! Thanks to all.

Just to clarify, the cars are located at Westminister (off Ravenswood Drv) and BOTH vehicles will need to be taken. If someone could take them by today/tomorrow that would really be appreciated. Thanks Krys

I thought we'd make someones xmas/new year and provide them with a perfectly good car and a spare undrivable but complete vehicle for parts. It is a 1988 Nissan Pintara Station Wagon. We were going to give them up for wrecking but thought that there are heaps of families out there that are hard on luck and would love to take a vehicle (and a half) for free. Due to age, they aren't in showroom condition but i'm sure that someone who has no car at all will not complain. They are in a condition that I find too good to just give away as wrecks. BOTH vehicles are registered. If you know someone in need, or want them yourself then please contact me. We need the vehicles removed within the next 48 hours. I am contactable on 0433 822 072 Regards Krys

I don't want to get an older car than 10 years. Plus i don't really like the look of the R32 I think a stock R33 with suspension mods will suit me fine. I don't want to build Gondzilla...i just want something fun. When i DO get a dedicated track car, i will be looking at a R32 GTR and mod the shit out of that instead. -

just a matter of interest. How many k's can you do to a tank? Or how many L/100km does it chew? Cheers Kris -

I don't intend on spending more than $5000 on Stage 1 mods. And i think you are right in suggesting the suspension over engine mods. To me it feels like there was enough power (although the turbo could kick in earlier...would be nice) -
for a good job. Expect to pay anything from $5000 to $10,000

good The less i have to spend on mods the better I just want to reach about 200rwkw and that's what i will leave it at. What would be needed to achieve those figures? Sorry for all the n00b questions...but i am a n00b at this Also...where is the best place to get parts. I'm relatively mechanically minded so any bolt on stuff i can do myself. -

CrazyNuts replied to CrazyNuts's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Well i don't know what is the weakest point of a Skyline R33. I mean....if i went to the drags on the weekend, and did the usual start by dumping to the redline, let it bounce off the rev limited and dump it on the green then i am sure something is bound to break......right? Or am i just worrying about something i shouldn't? -

awesome...that's a huge boost in performance So is a clutch something i should consider? How much does a stock one cost? -

I guess a stock clutch wouldn't be able to take too many drags though, would it? You know what i mean....step on the accelerator till the redline and then dup the clutch
