  1. yes, its near the battery, the blue 15A one. I've only heard good things about black widow when looking around
  2. LoL sorry. I didnt ask for any secrets I actually pulled the fuel pump fuse out a few times in the past week and put a blown one in when going out, the peace of mind was more than worh it. I cant watch a movie knowing the car is not secured. I got a very decent alarm installed on Sunday, I wont say what it is!
  3. WazR32GTSt - you'll need something like this: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Serial-Hot-Sync-Cab...1QQcmdZViewItem NewKleer - this is the serial cable i got: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Serial-Hot-Sync-Cab...1QQcmdZViewItem
  4. I got an old ipaq - model h2200
  5. Yeah windows 2003se should be fine, as long as its microsoft pocket PC There are detailed pics of the consult cable and kit in the group buy section, its titled DIY consult kit I think and the thread is started by NewKleer The null modem cable looks kind of like a vga cable. Jaycar only has the female to female one (pictured) I had to get gender changer (also from jaycar) to change both ends to male (second pic) One end of this cable plugs into the consult port, the other end to your serial sync cable. The serial sync cable looks exactly like your USB sync cable for your O2 but instead of a USB connection, it has a serial connection
  6. I think as long as the device runs Windows pocketPC it should work. You'll need the consult cable and the DIY consult kit, I got this from NewKleer a while back. This plugs into your car's ECU consult port near the fuse box. You then plug this into a null modem cable, I could only get the 9 pin female ones so I had to get two gender changers ($20 total from jaycar) You also need a serial sync cable for your 02XDA, I got this from ebay for $15. You end up with a heap of cabling but I stashed it all behind the ash tray and gear box area, theres a surprising amount of space there.
  7. NewKleer it works i put it on an ipaq I finally got my serial sync cable off ebay and only tried it today. I got a null modem cable from jaycar and two gender changers. I havnt had a chance to drive around with it yet but at idle the refresh rate seems pretty good. Sorry for the poor quality pic, took it using my phone, but you can just make out the AFM and 02 sensor gauge
  8. I've noticed some newere renaults' windscreen looks like it has been tinted, or is the glass treated in some way?
  9. thanks for the replies guys. Thats some really excellent advice frx026, much appreciated! Glad I posted here because I was very tempted by the cheap pager. Its true what you say though what good is it if it can be disabled by an amateur. Had a feeling the jaycar unit had a few catches especially for the price. The GPS alarms are nice but i'm not too keen on the ongoing cost on top of the hefty install price. No doubt about it though its the ultimate in protection. I'll heed the advice and not post up which one I'll end up with, theres a few others I'm considering, but they will be true three point alarms. Having said that though my old alarm was an nrma approved three point alarm, my auto electrician bypassed it in 15 minutes using nothing but a test light. Still needed my key to start the car though, but just a thought. I dont know what alarm it was, the previous owner had it installed
  10. ^^ lol. if i did that I'd more likely toast myself than a thief. I'll go with arh32, i have a burnt fuse I'll use to swap with my fuel pump fuse in the mean time, i think thats a great idea.
  11. Hi guys After seeing a few shops today it seems like I will be putting in either a mongoose M80 or a black widow 10000. I saw this on the jaycar site after investigating pager alarms. http://www.jaycar.com.au/productView.asp?I...x=&SUBCATID=640 My brother has a similar kit on his 180, but i dont about what brand it is or where it came from and how reliable it is? Whats your thoughts on it?
  12. Hi guys My alarm is farked so I'll be driving around without an alarm for next few weeks until I can put one in I might be parking in some dodgey places and thought about removing a fuse in the mean time after I park the car. Question is which fuse is the best to pull out and where is it? I prefer removing a blade fuse and not the type that is in its own box because its easier to carry around and keep spare blade fuses
  13. Guys, I got it installed successfullly I only used three band aids and no need for skin grafts. It was an absolute BITCH of a JOB. Minor cuts nothing major. Anyway had some dramas with my alarm because i disconnected the battery but now I can start the car. The pump sits as low as i can get it. I modified the bracket by straightening the bottom holder and clamping the pump on that. The wires needed to be made longer and I heat shrinked the connections. Its actually a very quiet pump, when idle you cant hear it at all. It is noisy when priming though but I like that sound. Cheers the the guide, it came in very handy!
  14. Problem has been fixed, it turned out that my alarm was totally farked. It was cutting off all ignition in the car and wouldnt come back online when the battery was reconnected Auto electrician came to rewire it back to bypass the alarm and its all good! (except the alarm going shopping for a new one now)
  15. Primordial, it turns out I did have a burnt fuse, its the one in the boot, third one from the bottom its a 10A ! I replaced it with a spare in the fuse box under the dash but its still having the same problem! Any other fuse boxes in the car? so far I've checked boot, the one in drivers side dash and the the one in engine bay near washer bottle. Edit- found out the burnt fuse was for rear tail light. I checked all other fuses too with a multimeter and its all fine...
  16. Ok I'll pick myself up a test light tomorrow and do a more thorough check. I only pulled out each fuse and checked it by eye so far. i hope its not something more serious Thanks for your help guys Could there be any more possibilities or anything I can check?
  17. Yep just checked the battery connections and tightened it all and checked all fuses too. The ones in the boot, under the dash and in the engine bay, none blown Whats worrying is that the dash lights dont even come on. The alarm light isnt blinking so I dont know what the status of the alarm is and I need it to blink to enter in the alarm override code. Is the alarm cutting the ignition switch and electrics? Theres no lights on the dash at all. The radio, water spray, headlights and mirrors work but it wont allow me to wind my windows up.
  18. Guys, I'm hoping someone can help. Today I disconnected the battery so I can install a new fuel pump. That took three hours so the battery was disconnected for that time. When I reconnected the battery, the car wont start. That is the pump isnt priming and no lights on the dash when I try to crank it. The alarm light doesnt even blink like it usually does, it is a three point alarm. I have disconncted the alarm's black box, and tried another battery. I have also tried disaraming the alarm from the alarm manual Has anyone ever experienced this? Any help appreciated Thanks
  19. if you remove the charcoal can your car will smell like petrol fumes
  20. Hi NewKleer, nice work. I'm keen to get this working on my pda, its an Ipaq h2200 I've installed the .Net framework and copied the files over. When I open EcuTalk it looks for bluetooth devices, when I cancel that it looks for connected serial devices and thats as far as I get because I dont have the cables yet, so its working. I'll pick up a serial sync cable and null modem cable some time and give it a go. I'd love to have a time trial feature and is it possible to do a speedo correction for different rim sizes.
  21. I agree, it can be a handful in the wet. When I first got my car it came with stock wheels and I let my friend drive it. He owns a type R so he's used to NA response and not turbo boost so when I let him drive it, being wet at the time he fishtailed and nearly clipped the kerb on a straight road. I crapped my pants, I'm sure he did too. All it had was an exhaust and filter at the time The stock tyres and rims are now on my dad's 626 lol and two weeks later i got bigger and wider wheels
  22. Cheers Wolverine I'll make sure I mount it as low as possible and custom mount like Satanic it if I need to
  23. Yes that is dirt cheap. A month ago a well known Jap spares shop in lansvale quoted me $350 for an R34 GTT intercooler.
  24. I'm installing mine this weekend, thanks for the detailed guide Wolverine Does it matter if there is a full tank of fuel in the car? or is it better to change the pump when the fuel level is low? Also does it affect the low fuel light operation in any way? Because the 040 doesnt have a sock should I be worried about running out of fuel before the low fuel light comes on?
  25. Thats a great result Satanic What fuel pump are you running? I cant see that on your web page (Nice page by the way) I'm planning to dyno mine too, before I do I am putting in a bosch040 pump which I'm hoping will arrive this week.
