  1. Spotted MRR34 in the market square carpark at sunnybank today.
  2. Why don't you write a letter/or call the station that the cop that gave you the fine came from, speak to a supervisor and say that you got this fine, you've researched and spoken to people at Queensland Transport and that according to them there's nothing wrong with it. Ask him what you should do about it. A smart supervisor would drop the charge then. If he says otherwise, just shrug and say you'll have to take it to court, tick the box and hang up.
  3. That was my understanding, something like changing your exhaust falls under the "light modification" rules for queensland transport. Only the "heavy modification" like engine/transmission swaps, changes to safety features (e.g. cages) etc etc required mod plates. Unfortunately then there's the new police rules which don't seem to coincide and leave people wondering/fined etc.
  4. Yes! I remember wondering if I'd make the turn before you went to cross or not (or maybe you'd just crossed). I didn't recognise you though

    R34

That pretty much covers it. Obviously the non turbo is going to be a bit more friendly (though I get pretty decent k's in my turbo), but the R34's are still pretty heavy.
  6. Didn't notice that till you mentioned it. ouch
  7. Spotted a Stagea on ashmole road at scarborough yesterday.
  8. Yeah, size is 12 x 1.25 (I recently had to replace mine) Just make sure you find a set that are small enough in size that you can fit whatever tool you need to get them on & off (Which was my problem, the normal wheelnuts from super cheap etc where 21mm, and I can only get the 19mm socket fitting on my wheel brace to fit in my mag wheels)
  9. There is a dark silver R33 GTR sitting in VI at the moment at RACQ. Nice looking car.
  10. Any of the N/A's? R34 GT, GT4, GTV etc
  11. Box it. This is just because the pod filter isn't muffling the noise of the turbo like the stock air box would
  12. 5psi low, 7psi high (after 4500rpm or so in 3rd gear) is normal. Are you looking at the stock gauge (which doesn't read in PSI on 33) or another gauge? It's possibly the stock boost controller isn't plugged in at all, and the wastegate is connected directly to the intake. Safe is around 12psi (though you'd probably be hitting R&R by then)
  13. Most people would agree that the mushroom/dome shaped filters, which are normally foam filters, are worse than the paper/cotton style filters. Perhaps better flow, but they're very lacking in filtration and have a habit of coming apart and with bits of foam getting sucked into your engine if you don't replace them often enough.
  14. I very much doubt it's an R31 brace. I doesn't look like it'd clear the crossover pipe & plenum.
  15. I lied, they're still $4. Part number NS457 for anybody who's interested (since they don't have R34's in the catalog) The federals replaced a set of Nexen N3000. As for rating, well, they lasted a long while, I suppose that's worth something... From what I could tell, the federals are considered a decent tyre for the price.
  16. Argh :S. Whoever previously put these wheels on managed to cross thread two of the nuts on one of the wheels. So now I have to find two wheel studs and nuts to replace the ones that had to be cracked off to get the wheel off. Hopefully I can just go down to somewhere like Repco and pick them up. Anyone got an idea of part number/size?
  17. Ha, I don't remember it. I followed a Blue R34 4 door cross the bridge and a bit down hornibrook esp
  18. I was speaking to my cop friend recently about this (he was explain a whole bunch of stuff at the time). He basically said that you'd be suprised how often people who have something to hide break down and admit things when they're asked questions like these. It's pretty standard for them to do, just looking for a reaction that says that you might not be the person you say you are. I'm guessing though that he could have done it with a bit more tact.
  19. You get pulled over, or you get a visit from the police. They're no camera involved with the hand helds. It's basically officers discretion as to what he would do. The difference between radar and lidar is that lidar could detect your car only, whereas with radar with the cars in front of you it would be almost impossible to detect your car as a signal. My bad on that technicality. They used to be radar guns (and for a while they used both radar and lidar), but I believe these days they only use lidar hand helds since they have less accuracy problems (though there certainly still is issues with the use of them)
  20. Nope, the radar in mobile patrol cars is just your standard radar. Lidar is only used in the hand held devices, since it has to be pointed at the car in particular (basically because it's too accurate, the beam is too narrow) HWP cars do have radar that can be used while mobile, but since it's radar, it's only really useful if you're the only car that could possibly be detected by it (read up about how radar works). It works the same way a stationary radar would work, but adjusts the calculation based on the HWP car's speed. The officer has to select whether the radar should adjust for oncoming cars or cars heading in the same direction (because of the radar doppler effect). Also why most of the time you see HWP cars parked on the side of the road with the officer holding a lidar gun instead.
  21. See the top post 235/40/18
  22. I'm booked into a one of the quickfix's around here. With the price being $198 a tyre (when I was expecting to have to pay at least $250 a tyre), it just came down to the fact that Mercury is further away to drive. Would Mercury have ended up cheaper for me overall? Probably, but for that price I really couldn't be bothered
  23. Thanks, I was going to ring NETA before I wrote this topic, still haven't gotten round to it yet. Was just wondering if people had gone to a particular shop which stocked them. I might find out the closest JAX Quickfit and see if they can do them
  24. I'm looking to grab a set of Federal 595SS (235x40x18) from somewhere northside. Anyone know places that sell (and preferably fit) them?
