  1. How much power are you after.
  2. When putting the timing belt on, make sure all the marks line up. When you set the ignition timing with a timing light, set it at 15deg BTDC. If you are confusing cam timing and ignition timing i would recommend getting a mechanic or someone who knows to give you a hand at theis crucial stage.
  3. What sort of power are you after, a pod wont make more power over a K&N in the stock box up to about 240rwkw
  4. Wow, thats wonderful advice! Did the springs come with any instructions? I would say the head needs to be machined, did they come with different retainers?
  5. But the cylinders arent nitrided from the factory, and the surface hardness gets machined off in the initial bore by the factory.
  6. Since when are the blocks hardened or nitrided from the factory?
  7. Just wondering if you are sure about the wastegate size, i thought the rb25 HKS cast lowmount manifolds had 40mm wastegates
  8. You may wish to mention that this setup will fit rb25's as well, IMO a reasonable price for a great setup-especially on an rb25
  9. Are you able to check the dome[crown thickness before you buy them?
  10. If thats the budget for just the turbo, then you wont be far off
  11. Is the motor that is going in stock? If so 280rwkw and it will have a alimited life if you track it. The turbo that "The Mafia" has sounds like the bomb for a street car, and even he is putting forgies in
  12. Does anyone know if the auto r32 gtst 's ECU has the gearchange retard like the r33?
  13. And yet you always look like your having a good time
  14. My brother is a dipstick
  15. Then you could fit 6 of them for the same weight
  16. I think they are available in both bolt pattern, otherwise you can just redrill you manifold
  17. Unfortunately you cant remove the exhaust housing adapter, as it contains the wastegate flap. If an r33 ex housing will fit, i would be interested to know, as i have a turbo the same at home, and it would be the easiest way out. (PS if your after an op6 housing i know where ive got one)
  18. Im pretty sure there isnt 100 kg between the two, being that an rb20 short motor only weighs about 100 kg. Usually the conversion is done in conjunction with moving the motor back, this along with the shorter motor move a lot of weight off the front axle. It also allows you to move the rediator/intercooler back as well. Just hope your ready to modify the firewall if you wish to make the most of the transplant. One r32 i saw in japan with an sr20 stroker had the waerpump inline with the base of the windscreen.
  19. I think if you check in pauls faq, it is a blown fuse
  20. Why dont you remove the bolt and fit a dipstick?
  21. Dont know the answer to #1 #2, its pretty normal, maybe the head has been decked at some stage. Just get some adjustable camwheels and reap the power benefits.
  22. You may wish to consider upgrading to head studs at the same time, roguepi on ebay has them at a good price
  23. There was some talk about a different block having the dipstick in a different spot, the only other reason i can think of is maybe it previously came out of a car with a dry sump and external reservior
  24. Expres post of course!LOL, i would try to get 30 thou. The smaller you can run without hitting, the better. If the pistons sit 10 thou proud over the deck, and you run a 40thou(1mm)gasket then you end up with 30 thou. You may have to machine the dome of those pistons down a little, as a rough calc gives it 12.1:1 comp, but you should bore and hone the block, then dummy assemble the bottom end. Then do all the measurements, and figure out what needs to be decked how much, then your home and hosed. Just remember whenever you build an engine like this, treat it as a custom job and dont rely on anything written on the part boxes, as a small difference here can make a huge difference in compression.
