  1. Sorry, piston height should be close, i would deck it so the pistons sit 10thou(.25mm) proud, and then use a 1mm head gasket, then deck the head for correct comp.(check all the measurements includding ccing the pistons and head before you machine anything)
  2. I would run a bit tighter i the quench, about 30 thou, it will help with combustion, and will help with trying to get the comp your after. I dont thing the deck height is correct though.
  3. Another mechanic told me that my silencer is restricting the exhaust too much and could also be doing something there (3.5 inch turbo back exhaust, silencer takes it to about 2-2.5 inch at muffler). Which is it, 2 inches would be a massive restriction, have you considered fitting an Exhaust temp gauge. If the tuner has to severly retard the timing to prevent detonation, then the EGT's can go through the roof. This would make sense, as the gtt's are renown for having to run low timing to compensate for their different combustion chamber design, and higher comp ratio How close is the cat to the turbo, could try moving it back a bit.
  4. Dont think they exist, but can use an r33 one, notsure if the rail/injectors bolt up though, i know the copy's fit r33 and r34 though. Try some of the business traders, crd and others should be able to help you at a good price
  5. You will either need to get poncams to suit vct in which case you cant use the adj cam gears, or buy two exhaust poncams, and dial in the cams, but personally i dont think there would be any gain from removing the vct, in fact HKS had a kit to put vct onto non vct rb26 heads, it was like $15000
  6. Laggy, the same as an rb25 turbo, but bigger exhaust housing and different compressor wheel(i believe)more tuned to low boost, so when you put it on an rb20 its laggy and inefficient, heaqps better to go with an rb25 turbo, and get it highflowed if needed
  7. So now all we need to know is how much torque is required to drive the oil pump at redline when the oil is cold, and see if that is greater thatn the breakaway point of the interference fit.
  8. There is no such thing, i would recommend reading the rb25 dyno results thread at the top of the page, or do a search, as posting a new question all the time that has been answered many times before will not win you any friends
  9. Just unplug the clutch pedal sensor, and the gear position sensor and go for a drive, maybe you will just have to disconnect a wire from the ecu and it will be sweet
  10. Maybe it had a sticky pumped up lifter
  11. Yeah, putting the AFM in the ic piping, will not increase its power abilities, it will still max out at the same airflow.
  12. Yeah, these otomoto turbos are known for being very laggy for the power they produce, wouldnt recommend a VG30 turbo, just an rb25 one and get it highflowed if you wan t anymore, keep the smaller exhaust housing to move the powerband down in the rev range, still make up to about 250rwkw with a highflow
  13. Thats an interesting rule of thumb when you think about it, as HP doesnt have anything to do with it does it!
  14. I would say it will stay on no worries, however it isnt a big job to put an M5 grub screw bottomed into the crank with loctite, then there is no way it can spin
  15. Yes, absolutely can, and if you mount it after the BOV it will stop the stalling on gearchanges(you will need to mount it after the BOV, or it will measure the recirculated air)What management are you running? Will need to check mixtures obviously, would love too hear back on how you go.
  16. Mate the best you could hope for by doing the swap is about 5% more torque, maybe try getting an r32 rb25de or r32 rb25 det, they should go straight in and arent too expensive. Alternativly a 3litre would be ideal, but isnt a weekend job.
  17. I know on my z32, the ecu raised the revs as soon as the gearstick was put into gear. Maybe try checking the wiring diagram to see if there is a sensor(im betting there is)You could try unplugging whatever wire detects that, if its the only problem with the ecu, you may have to live around it.
  18. Have you checked trouble codes, could be CAS
  19. IMO the only thing they perform well at is blowing up
  20. Agreed, if its in good nick, will do it with no probs, have made 323rwkw with one
  21. ZDont know if id take on a late madel manual excel with a big rev
  22. Mate, that looks perfect, 12:1 at full recs, and a little dip at peak torque. At that power level you wont gain anything from adding more fuel, you would probably gain some by leaning it out but at the expense of high EGT't and combustion temps. I would leave it exactly as it is.
