  1. no you dont, just make sure it cant open, welding up the wastegate hole in the housing will just cause you dramas such as cracks, and it will take 100 hours to diegrind the weld down so it is smooth
  2. i doubt that this is caused by detonation, as 5/6 looked like this, i would say the cylinder temps are too high for the plug. if the plugs are too hot it will cause detonation
  3. I agree bob, however the longer duration cams may have a faster ramp rate. However for the cost of a set of springs, i would fit them rather than risk the damage that could occur. do gtr springs fit?
  4. I would always run a hose from the bottom of the catch can back to the sump with a 1 way valve if necessary. Another thing that i have being toying with is running a breather from the crankcase from somewhere away from the crank, trying to catch the blowby before it gets up into the head, which slows the return of the oil from the head which appears to be the main cause of this problem. The catch can may want to be a little wider, as the wider it is the slower the gases will be travelling through it. It is a case of bigger is better. You may also get a benefit of running two separate breather hoses from the rocker covers to the catchcan.
  5. No offense, but i think i have been more than patient, and at this stage im not really saving any money as i have paid $370 for no cam gears?
  6. I dyno tune, then take it for a run o the street to setup the accel pump settings and light throttle/ cruise settings, as you cant access these very light throttle points on the dyno. As for the tune changing at night, any good tune should not change day or night, as the computer has builtin air temp/density compensation.
  7. Still waiting on my 2 1/2 sets from group buy #1, no response from R33 kid
  8. The boost gauge is simply plumbed into the wrong spot, it should be in the plenum
  9. Im fairly sure they are the same except they can have different discs inside them. Obviously the ca18 one will only have 4 slots instead of six, but the discs can be swapped over.(R34 rb25 is different)
  10. there are some in the R33 rb30 section about page 200
  11. great result, looks like their oxygen sensor is getting old and not responding quickly.
  12. Measure the lift on the cams with a set of digital verniers, measure across the lobe (base circle) then from the top of the lobe to the other sied of the lobe (hope this makes some sense) the difference in the measurement is the lift
  13. and goodluck with 400 with the t70, they dont have a very good reputation of being robust
  14. Whoever told you that didn't know what they are talking about
  15. Im sorry, ive basically given up on this gb idea, as noone will get back to me about availability, i would have called the guy who has the contact in autotechnica about 30-40 times, and now im just being a pain in the arse, its not his fault, its autotechnica that never get back to him. Ill try again in like a month and maybe ill have more luck.
  16. A wolf cant make more power out of a set of standard injectors than any other computer
  17. Although i have never seen one, Im of the opinion that dis6's do exist, however you can use a dis4 and set it up with waste spark using the original coils, dont know haw long thay would last, although in theory CDI places less load on the coils. You need to intercept the signal between the ignitor at the back of the head and either intercept the signal for all six (dis6) or pair the coils if using a dis4, 1&6, 2&5, 3&4. PFC will run it fine although it wont have separate maps for nos. HKS sell a twin spark CDI unit for about $800 which plugs straight in(with the appropriate patch loom)
  18. Hows that when the coefficient of thermal expansion for stainless steel is like 10 times that of mild steell(depending on the grade.
  19. Yes you can either a Dis4 or dis6(a dis6 is preferred)
  20. Why stainless, steampipe ones dont crack wheras stainless ones are far more prone
  21. too slow, ive been goobered
  22. No gain unless your stock one is shagged, if its original it probably is
  23. Hi, im thinking of getting one of these cheap little boxes to lean out my missus Mitsu RVR as it gets s@#thouse fuel economy. Will tune with Innovate LM-1. Has anyone had any experience with these as an alternative to an Apexi safc
  24. AFAIK they last forever. they dont tend to die over time like an o2 sensor, as long as coolant is used, however they can break internally or externally
