  1. I doubt you are maxing the AFM out with a gt35r although it can max one out, if you are only running 17psi you would have to be revving th esnot out of it before there was enough airflow to max it out. 4.5v is a fair way for 5.1v, as the airflow-voltage curve is exponensional eg the extra .6v is probably 80rwkw. Can you peak hold the value. Could it be the injectors maxing out, that will trigger an engine light, or knock as you already know.
  2. What widths do you have available?
  3. What pistons are they? I would probably get a new block over getting 2 sleeves put in, ends up costing about the same without the potential of sleeve dramas.
  4. Ive seen people oxy plugs before, usually rotary plugs or platinums, as when they foul they shouldnt be cleaned with emery, and they are expensive. However woth the oxy takes about 10 seconds to do all 6, you just wave a light oxidising flame over them, just enough to burn the oil/fuel. Unfortunately as he oxy'd them for free, you probably cant sue him.
  5. Or 7's if your going over about 300rwkw
  6. Well if 5 out of 6 broke, the plugs were overheated, either by the oxy, or the tune, either way its the tuners fault. When he oxy'd them, did he just wave the oxy over them or did he heat them up?
  7. I would write down all the values in the maps before you reset it for future reference. If it has stock map sensors then there are no real tricks to tuning one over a normal pfc. Just hope he has datalogit, makes it 1000 times easier.
  8. Why does the cylinder next to it look the same?
  9. All nistune is real time, and rb20 ecu=no vct. $400 is a pretty fair price, as for most people it wont need to be tuned straight away.
  10. Its funny, here they are rare, wheras in japan there must be skip bins full of them
  11. Sorry paul have to disagree, knock causes it to go into the knock map, which is richer and less timing, however R&R is generally referred to the cells in the fuel and timing map above which a factory car sees, where the fuel and timing maps are severely richened and timing pulled. It is easy to see ont eh dyno, add 5 psi to a stock setup, with no knock, and power figures will go all over the place, not fuel cutting.
  12. Thats a nice big ugly tig on one of the intercooler pipes, guess we can thanks "you know who"for that
  13. Funny how an ad for bov's says flutter kills turbos. bias anyone.
  14. There is an interesting article by the guys at nizpro basically saying that factory BOV's are emission devices, and i tend to agree. MAP sensor'd supras dont have BOV's, and i dont think it wwas toyota trying to save $2, then they reverted back to AFM and bov, coincidence i think not.
  15. I love what niisan say for the fix. Try a new cam @ probably $1000. If that doesnt fix it get a new head, probably $3000 by the time you fit it. Is there an issue that you are trying to fix, or are you just checking everything? TBH ive never checked it.
  16. So what is required to fit boost control to a d-jetro, just the soleniod? Can i use a mac valve i wonder?
  17. At what boost/prm is the afm hitting 5.1v?
  18. Interesting then that people are fitting non tomei gears to tomei cams. Stock hole must be at least a 6 thou clearance fit.

    I Wonder Why...

"I wonder why" you bothered creating this thread, +1 vote for gheyest thread of the year.
  20. I would go 10 psi, should make around 200rwkw
  21. Take a breath champ
  22. Has it got a filter relocator? How does the thread for the oil filter on the block look? There is no need to remove the head to fit oil squirters, but i would suspect there are plenty of other reasons the head will have to come off.
  23. Exactly, yellowjackets=warranty
  24. "how much do i need for 400kw with gtrs turbos am willing to pay for the results" More than you paid for the car i would say.
  25. I use it, awsome stuff, however if the engine is old, the carbon on the ring lands can help the rings seal, this stuff will wash it away. Pretty lethal stuff though, especially what comes out the exhaust after
