  1. yeh nice, should suit you down to a tee that's another thing i remember jim saying what was wrong with the twins, the cover on some of them is very thin and they heat up very quickly and that inturn induces premature clutch slippage, he did mention brands, but i just can't remember
  2. see you wouldnt have that drama if you had a single plate, because i think u'll find u cant change the flywheel caus its "all in one", if you know what i mean 16kg's, i'd say it's a light one, my guess would be between 4-6kg's?
  3. didnt you terry? well now u do i'm not entirely sure yet, at first i was all for a track spec car, but now i'm leaning towards drag spec because there is actually prize money on offer. basically i'll have to make up my mind before i get the new turbo & suspension setup. for now i've got a set of R34 v-spec turbo's, and i'll do a fair bit of drag and circuit work to help me decide.
  4. depends on what u want to use it for really decides what you should use give you an example...the bresiani (spelling) could not break or come close to the record with a lightened (4.Xkg flywheel) whereas when jim sent him back a stock one, he ran the record and broke it by a fair bit. thats because he couldnt get it off the line and was having trouble holding boost, boost was dropping of between gears etc. also, jim and dan have seen more warped lightened flywheels than stocko's so that also say somthing for them. jim recommends that if the car is for out and out track racing, go for a very light flywheel (4.Xkg) thats because u want excellent throttle control mid corner, out of the corner etc, also u dont have the factor of dropping off boost because the revs are always high, also lightens the drivetrain up...drags he says to use a stock weight or slightly thinned stock flywheel, for the reasons like the bresciani example theres more, but that's all i remember for now
  5. i'm unaware of any aussie gtr's that run one of jims that is faster than paul (twoogle), but paul has said himself that his car with a better driver (pauls words lol) would push a 9, and it runs just over 400awkw's. also he ran the same clutch for 2 full seasons. however the millenium m'sports supra, the subzero soarer both run jims single plate another very interesting topic is flywheels... its cool, i know this is just for interest sakes
  6. yeh urs'll be fine no worries all the drag cars are prolly running quad plates though, imagine what one of those would be like to drive, and how much they'd cost to rebuild ...whereas if jims claims are true, they could all be running on one of his singles and they'd be laughing
  7. hence why jim absolutely hates twin plates, they are so badly designed they cant have a high power rating (i'm talking the off the shelf jap ones), but he said he has modded a few twins and they've worked wonderfully, but it costs $1500 or there abouts to actually mod one to "make it work properly"
  8. hrmm interesting...yeh its a single, with a 3600lb pressure plate, jim said it'll be good for 1000hp
  9. im not gonna state mine, caus i dont wanna cry lol, but i started with a complete stocker (minus pods) and i've got left: suspension brakes rims turbos (maifolds, wastegates, custom exhaust & piping) cams cam gears valve springs diff's gearbox i did a quick calc the other day, theres another 30k for the above ...i'll be chasing some decent sponsorship for most of that work though
  10. its very easy to rack it up isnt it...u've got ur suspension and brakes sorted though dont u? and rims
  11. it definately is one sexy lookin clutch i'll give u that, bit better than my jet black one lol i've never driven a twin, i've driven a stocko, and a 5puck brass button (dont get me started on how much of a crunt those clutches are to drive), wanna do a swapsie u can check out mine, i can check out urs?
  12. i've figured it out...who are you sleeping with andy? and dont say anna
  13. *grabs box of tissues* but it's a twin plate, who on the earth would want a silly twin plate
  14. yeh but mine's cost 3x as much ok, let the cat out of the bag, but my clutch is jim berry's full monty and its gotta handle a fair bit of abuse cheers for that, i'll look into it
  15. god damn i hate u lol it's gonna go like the clappers! i've been meaning to ask...where abouts did u get ur B pillar brace, and how much was it? if u dont mind me asking
  16. not until i say so
  17. with all that forged goodness u'd be silly not to run more boost i'd just be having a rough guess, but it'd have to be $2500+? no idea really lol
  18. Does anna know about this? lol...sounds like its a bargain, i'd get it, therefore u dont need to worry about it going pop for a long time. RE the N1 oil pump, i read this earlier today, http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...howtopic=136134 and it's scared me a little bit. Im now thinking of replacing the oil pump for a JUN (or the likes) before the big turbo's go on
  19. want to share the details of the motor andy? u know we all like details
  20. u know theres no way in hell u'd get ur old engine out and the new one in intime for autosalon lol...if ur keen on the engine, and it's a real gem of one too, put it of until after autosalon maybe
