Full leathers saved my life, i was in the left lane and a plumber in an old holden did not look and he had no mirrors and he took me out i hit his front left panel and then went over the bonnet i hit the ground at about 80km and the only thing stopping me hitting a poll at that speed was the leather gripping the road and roling me. best $1000 i ever spent. as for the RS250 v`s the R1 i do believe the R1 would be close at 400m and i agree it would take the RS250 at high speed but i can tell you first hand that a 2001 RS250 will pull ahead of a 2002 R1 (i was on the RS250) and i had to back off to keep the thing on 1 wheel. the power band on the RS250 is such that you can`t open it full or you will turf it. unless you know what ur doing. and although i have riden it for 2 years now i still do not dare open it full. its good that you want to ride a bike and i still do it every day, and when you look at costs it would make sense, i get 250km out of $7 on my everyday run around bike(which is for sale at the mo) it is an older style virago 250 cruser) but these are not toys to have fun on, it is very unlikly that when u crash you will kill anyone else, but the risk is far greater that if you crash you will NOT walk away. on a happier side of things a good friend of mine is an RTA rider trainer, and he pulled some facts for me, the 3rd most common cause of a crash where to motorbike is at fault is on a straight road near shopping centers and stuff like that, theses crashes where harmless and what was happening was the rider was checking him/herself out in the shop windows and talking his eyes off the road and running up the back of a car at only 40km-60km, the most common crash casued by a bike is around corners and second is in the wet. so all i can say is be careful and don`t check yourself out.
  2. if you hit something on a bike even if you are on your l`s and are found to be riding a bike bigger then you should, u are ****ed, car lisence and bike lisence gone for 1 year at least. and insurance is also gone. just to add
  3. o.k firstly, the RS250 will line up against an R1 anyday and pull ahead, any of those bikes you had up here would be blown away by a 250, it is a 2 stroke and is one of the quickest bikes on the road, and by the sounds of you it is to big for you, so are these bikes, if you get pulled over kiss your car lisence good-buy, if you have one that is. it is not the skill level of you it is other people on the road, you do not think this untill you have been run off the road and into a poll by a plumber like i did(i put a f**king big dent in his door might i add) when you start riding you get 1 point and if you lose 1 point on your car you lose your bike as well, then it goes p`s for about 1 year with 4 points, and again if you lose 4 points on your car then u lose you bike as well, these are not toys, if you hit something in a car so be it if you hit something in a bike say goodbuy to an arm or a leg, or your life. good luck matey, let us know when you are catching the train to work.
  4. what kind of sound does that make?? are they the ones that you can change the tune of them?? and for a rice factor you can chose diff colours as well.

R6`s and R1`s are hot as well and are designed for longer riding, the RS`s are a born race bike and they feel it when on the road, that would be one of the quickest bikes to ride on the road. but if ou are just in for looks and a great all round bike go for the 2004 R6 the are sex on wheels(only 2) and when they want to they will take off like a rocket. anyway that is what i think, just to give you some more ideas.
  6. iknow i will get burnt for this but i have been riding for as long as i remember and the bike that i loved the most was an RS250, now these are a 2 stroke race bike with lights. they are only about $10K new and they are hot as hell. i would not ride one for a long period of time and would never think about it as my main form of transport but they are ahell of alot of fun to ride and it sounds like that is what u want. the skill level is higher to rides these but learn to ride one and you wil love it, hmmmmm track days.. oh yeh
  7. yeah i understand that the air is going back thru the turbo if there is no bov. and i have a pod and i doget that sound now with the standard bov. but now because i am getting an aftermarket one and i know there are diffrent sounding bovs. the type 3 supersonic on a real tight spring will flutter, not the same as if there is no bov but it will go pshhpsshpsshppshpshp.
  8. come on guys what do you think?? i know most ppl do not like the sound at all, and because my standard one cant hold more then 15psi it is time to change to aftermarket. i was thinking hks ssqv but not sure, what do u guys think, the flutter or the ppssshhhh or a little squeek?? i am not into the ppsshhhhh or the loud ones anyway i want something that will sound diffrent and not give the 75 year old man walking down the street a heart attack. i want something that looks good and sounds good. any one got any ideas??
  9. yeah so i take it that you have to spend the big cash to get octane booster to burn the fuel....
  10. i paid $20 for a bigger bottle i think it did 2-3 tanks maybe the one u used increased the power another way. i would have no idea how but after doing some research on this i can`t see how octane could increase power.
  11. yeah i was thinkig about that, the reason i posted was because of the money i wasted on octane booster, imean car car shot flames out the back of it but when i dynoed it one day and got less then normal i started looking at fuel maps and boost settings and everything except my fuel. fuel co`s recomend to use the premium fuel in cars because it cleans out your motor but don`t by it because it will give you more power. who has dynoed there car to see a diff in premium and 95?? it is easy to show a 15KLW gain on the side of a bottle, but there are to many varibles to justify that gain. ,, wheather, temp, where the tests were done, or even which test was done first. these all come into play when you read off a dyno.
  12. this came to me from somebody in the fuel industry(no names or brands) "What`s the benefit of higher octane? Higher octane fuel has only one beneficial feature- it allows an engine to run at higher temperatures with more advanced ignition timing under higher levels of compression without detonating/knocking. higher octane fuel does NOT have more potential energy and will not make an engine perform better unless that engine is knocking. on modern engines with knock sensors, higher octane fuel may make the engine run better if the knock sensors are retarding the ignition timing, which hinders performance. high octane fuel does not burn cleaner, it does not clean your engine. it does not increase horsepower or torque(unless your engine is knocking), it does not smell better, it does not increase fuel economy(unless knocking)and it is not better for the environment. "

  14. these guys have done alot of work to me and ppl i know. all good feed back. and from what i have seen it is cheaper then most in the north side. just check it out. always good to see what he is doing to "JRX" these days
  15. there are clips in most of them. from what i got told to do is pull so the clips are popped out. try tro get a them from under the boot. they were white on mine but could be any colour. hope that helps
  16. hey all just recieved my HKS Supper Dragger From Japanese Import Parts. and i need to know what kind of bolts should i just to bolt up to cat? as the ones on there now are rusting and i want to replace them all at once. can anyone help me?? should i use just normal high strenght bolts but has anyone got anymore info thanks

  22. yeah the bonnet is stuff.... well i was going to repair and then paint. the carbon bonnet is only good for that. the carbon is set in a clear coat. this means if it is cracked you cant reapir and get the same smoth carbon fibre look. the bonnet hit my roof at 80km so it is craked right throu. these are worth around $1100 and the standard bonnets are worth $200 so i think it would be a fair swap. but if you want to sell i will just buy off you. think about it!! cheers
  23. hey all does anyone have a S1 bonnet for sale?? i had a carbon bonnet on and it hit my windscreen(long story,started with a cop not shutting my bonnet properly) and it is new need of a big repair... if anyone wants it i will swap for a S1 bonnet. or i will buy a S1 bonnet. i need it as the colour change i am doing does not match a carbon bonnet. otherwise i would juts buy a new carbon one... anyway if anyone has one p.m me or post. cheers
  24. no no no my friend got charged with the same thing like 6 months ago... and thats what he did... and it worked for him... just wondering if anyone has tried to delay the charge???
