I would agree and say that it definently sounds like a coil pack problem. Splitfires arn't infallable, infact in another 2-3 years time when some of the originals start getting older I'd put money on it we'll see more fail in exactly the same fashion the stockies fail. Just to make sure swap it with a known good pair to see if that makes any difference, and like others have said I'd also be checking your plugs / plug gapping just to be certain. Good luck!

Custom Hand Made Water Pump Impellor & Cylinder Coolant Bleeds
aphid replied to webber's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Cracked factory valve guides on the exhaust side are actually quite common. It's more so the brittleness induced into them by the constant expansion/contraction associated with everyday driving that causes them to crack rather than the constant excessive heat they're exposed to for a relativly short time if they're tracked every now and again. IMO a setup like this would be benificial but again it comes down to cost vs gains I guess... Did the guy do any datalogging with tempurature probes tapped into each water jacket with a before and after result? This would be a good way of predicting actual gains associated with the setup Just my 2cents -

Hey guys, Just curious to know what the actual differences are between R34 GTT and R34 GTR headlights? I've heard around the place that they're actually a different shape as the inner bottom corner on the GTR is more bulged out to fit flush with the GTR's bulged snout. Any feedback would be much appreciated Cheers, Mark

Hey guys, As the topic suggests I've got a few items for sale. All items are at Kelvin Grove in Brisbane and are available for inspection if needed. My number is 0420 553 651 1) R33 GTSt PowerFC w/out hand controller, has a few scratches on the case but other than that in perfect working order, please also note that these are no longer in production and very hard to come by, there is another one listed at the moment without hand controller for 1250 so this is a bargain, also comes with tune but can update if you give me a list of your mods - $850 ono: 2) Stock turbo's from my R34 GTR. These turbos have ball bearing cartridges and are a decent upgrade for an 32 or 33 rb26. In used condition, around 80,000km old. They come with stock dumps & gaskets & oil drains, basically everything in the picture - $600 ono: 3) 3" Dump pipe to suit rb26. Was using this in a twin turbo setup on my r33 gtst (rb25/30), however it was from a 32 and I suspect it would also fit a 34 with minor modification if any: <pics to come> 4) r32 GTR turbos, used condition, unknown how many km, still in decent nick with minimal shaft play - $300: <pics to come> 5) rb26 twin turbo pipe - $40: 6) Twin guage pillar for r33 skyline, colour is a bit off in the pic, it's actually black and has a similar finish to the stock dash - $50: 7) Stock r34 rb26 afms, came off my r34 gtr, good condition still have all mesh - $200 ono: 8) Used K&N pod filter, had it on my r33 gtst while it was single turbo, probably got 3000km use out of it at the most, could do with a clean - $50 ono: 9) Apexi pod filter kit for rb26, came off my r34 gtr, comes with what is displayed in the pic, still using the pods that came with it (upgraded to 70mm afms) - $120 ono: 10) rb26 style twin turbo cast exhaust manifolds modified to fit an rb25, used these with great success on my rb25 - $120 ono: <pics to come> 11) Sony CDX-F7700 headunit, used it in my r33 for about a year, probably 3 years old now, has a nice display on it and puts out good sound, plays mp3 etc.. - $100: 12)Pioneer DEH-P7650MP headunit, headunit came in my 34 gtr which was later upgraded, also has a nice display and puts out good sound, plays mp3 and the like - $150: 13) Eboost electronic boost controller, came in my 34 gtr, ended up swapping it out for my HKS EVC so it's no longer needed - $330 ono: <pics to come> 14) Stock rb26 plenum from r32, bought it forever ago for a project that never kicked off, still in great nic, black paint hasn't peeled at all - $150 ono: <pics to come> 15) 10" Rockford Fosgate sub in enclosure - $100 ono: I'm happy to post all items at buyers expense, as stated before I'm in Kelvin Grove on the Brisbane northside (postcode is 4059) and my number is 0420 553 651. You can also msn me at [email protected] or email me at [email protected], post here or give me a pm Any other questions don't hesitate to drop me a line... Cheers, Markus

I guess it's a little more involved but have you thought about going down the path of a 25/30? I'm not really an expert on rb20's but I think you'll require the sump adapter which are about $600, an rb25 head and associated intake piping but the turbo manifold & lines should still all bolt up fine (you have to stretch them), probably also a new dump made up (or modified) and the vct line tapped & a new timing belt.. I'm not sure but I'd say the existing rb20 sump should bolt upto the sump adapter, if not rb26 sumps are pretty cheap to come by and the diff can be transfered across Just a thought really - In my mind it sounds a better option as the parts are alot easier to come by! Anyway best of luck with it!

Torque Estimate For This Rb26 Engine Spec?
aphid replied to Chris Wilson's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
How does one double the torque output of an engine by putting it into a lighter chassis? -
Did you check the castings on the greddy copy plenum compared to the gasket?? Some of them can be REALLY bad!! I've actually heard a few people bitch about a "lean patch" on the stock pfc fuel map, present just where the motor is coming onto boost where there is not enough fuel in the engine to make the power you need coming onto boost but the cylinder pressures arn't high enough to cause detonation yet either.. Never really had this problem myself though as I don't use the stock fuel map for long Perhaps if she's already got as much ignition wound into her as possible in said spot this could account for the dead patch?

You're gonna make me find out the hard way? You're brave! You're brave. They call me Hector. Got a last name too, but I can't pronounce it.

Yeah I picked through the garrett site, they've only got there GT spec chargers there.. Unsure as to why they've not got the t04z etc listed Straight after posting that though I picked through the t04z vs gt35/40 thread again and found one, I was really just after a ballpark figure as to how much air the t04z was going to flow.. Finished fitting the HKS evc out of my r33 into the r34 gtr today (has a t04z) and tomorrow I'm going to take it for a tune with the FC datalogit and was just after a ballpark figure of where the efficiency range was, think I'll shoot for around 25 psi Cheers!

I've just spent the last half hour searching for one on the net, just wondering if anybody has a link to one? It's just the normal garrett one I'm after, either A/R is good too Cheers

you're so bad... HKS among others used to direct replacement coolers for the stock side mount.. keep your eyes open in the for sale thread and you might get lucky, they come up from time to time.. r34 GT-T coolers also have a thicker core and are a significant upgrade over the stock 33 item, with this cooler 12psi of boost through the stock turbo would be feasable & with a tune you'd be cracking the 200rwkw mark

all good

Spotted: R34 GTT with numberplates BRR 87 reverse parking into a pole at Kippa-Ring shopping center. Ha ha ha - unlucky

You can try the Power FC out of my r34 gtr if you like. I get back to Australia on Wednesday (in Japan atm) so should be good for some time after that

Hey guys, I'm in Japan at the moment and I remember reading about a franchise that sells used performance car parts in Japan in a magazine a while ago. I've spent the last hour babelfishing my way through yahoo japan & yahoo auctions but I'm getting nowhere.. Does anybody know the name of the shop or could point me in the right direction? Cheers, Markus (I've posted this in the Japan section too.. but this forum always seems to get more hits
