I did expect to see a bit more power out of it, but at the end of the day its only a piece of paper with a number on it. My tuner said another car that made the same power as mine went to a dyno day and rolled off with 247kw, thats 44kw difference between dynos.
-
Thanks mate, yeah the cartridge no. is 700177-5023. It would be interesting to change the diff gears to see how it goes but im stoked with how the car runs and responds at the moment so ill leave it alone for now. And yep its a .63ar rear.

Ok just had the tune done, the only thing i was a bit disapointed with was the paper saying 203kw, but im not to worried after driving the car. The dyno is known to read quite low. Boost starts at 3000rpm, 15psi by 3500rpm and full boost at 4000rpm, it pulls hard all the way to 7000rpm where the power just starts to drop off. This is running 22psi, at 23 it made 210kw but the GTR injectors were at 98% duty cycle so we backed it off a touch, this shows the turbo isnt at its limits yet. It gets a bit of wheelspin halfway through first gear and into second, blink and its time for third where it has full traction. Im so happy with how it drives and with the power delivery, it doesnt lag then come on like a switch. I think this is a great turbo for the RB20. I will take it to the next dyno day to see what power readings it will get but at the end of the day if it still says 203kw ill be happy with it. My tuner said with traction and a ok driver it should run 12.3, 12.4 down the quarter.

Broken Shaft On Turbo >>> Way To Remove Compressor Wheel?
grim32 replied to jezzerrr's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Cant you stick the shaft in a vice, then undo the nut. -
Yeah but still want someone else to have a go that knows RB motors just to try for that little bit more.
-
I have it booked in at Rotamotive for a quick touch up and to make sure everything is right. Then ill take it to a guy that SK told me about that tunes racecars.

Well worked on it all weekend and just went for the first drive. It feels great off boost, i didnt drive it to hard but gave it a quick stab here and there, it pulls pretty hard at 4000rpm so im pretty happy with the response but i only reved it to about 5000rpm and cant see why it wont keep pulling right through the rev range. Battery is stuffed in the car so its time for a new one, then off to the dyno this saturday coming at 10am for a tune.

Ignition Maps For High Boost On Rb20det's
grim32 replied to GTRNUR's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Hi Ian, was the maps from my car of any use to you? -
Remotely Mounted External Wastegates ...
grim32 replied to discopotato03's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Might not be the sort of thing you are after but this is a 35mm gate on a high mount manifold, RB20 R32. I just took the manifold off again but ill take a pic from underneath tomorrow when i get it back on. -
Put them in set to 0 then play with them on the dyno from there, they may make no difference but if you have them sitting there i think they are worth a try. I think SK said +2 inlet and -4 exhaust but all engines are different so have a play and find the settings that makes it happy.

Does This Sound Like The Turbos Blown
grim32 replied to Let Me Drive's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
My money is on the wheel being in the cat due to no spooling noise, hope im wrong. Good luck. -
Have the exhaust and wastegate pipes done now, so its time to start putting it all together after a real good clean of the pipes. Got the heat wrap for the manifold and im having a bit of trouble with it but im sure ill work it out. Still a few small things need to be done but im confident ill have it to turn key stage by the weekend.

That rear wheel may be a touch small

Heat Management Of Turbos Manifolds Pipes Etc .
grim32 replied to discopotato03's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Does anyone know where I can buy a roll of this thermal wrap over the net? I've been looking on Nengun and can't find anything???? Horsepowerinabox.com have both of them -
I just ordered the turbo bag, for $175 i think its good value
-
Because responsive turbos wont make the power i want
-
Well i guess there are so many variants out there so ill just have to see how this one goes
-
I havent pulled the housing off to measure it but it looks to be about 55mm where the wheel sits and goes out to 75mm at the flange.
-
Carl h - Thanks, well i guess im now a RB20 GT30xx brother lol. There were lots of turbos i wanted including the GCG RB25 hiflow, HKS 2835, Trust TD06, i searched through countless posts and spoke to lots of people and this turbo was the one stuck in my mind when it came time to order one. The specs are GT3071R comp- 4" inlet, 2" outlet, .50ar, 71mm wheel with 56 trim exh- T3 inlet, 4 bolt outlet, .63ar, 60mm wheel with 84 trim. Roy - Yeah the whole car was painted nearly 2 years ago, you can see why i picked the username i did going by the pic of the bonnet Driftsquad- All my other mods are listed in the RB20 turbo upgrade thread. SXC180- I didnt think it would have that much lag, oh well i guess ill find out soon enough. Did your turbo have the same specs that i listed? RS500- Thanks, i thought this turbo would be a good match for the RB20 but i guess theres only one way to find out for sure. nuffin works- Ive driven the car lots of times in the rain with the filter there and had no problems, but i think you could be right. The car isnt a daily driver its my toy, so i think i would leave it at home rather than drive it through thunder storms.

Thanks, im using wolf 3d, it also controls the boost and after i put in another relay it will take care of the thermo fans

Hi guys just thought id post up some pics of the work im doing to the car at the moment. I wanted to have all the pipe work done last weekend but some parts didnt show up in time, and had 3 birthdays to attend on the weekend so i only had friday night to work on the car. The exhaust still has to be joined up and a wastegate pipe made up that i will plumb into the exhaust just before the cat. The 3 pipes that are finished are 304 stainless. I have still got to run a few hoses and wires and do a quick tidy up of the engine bay, plus a bit of heat proofing but i think it will be ready for the dyno in 2 weeks. [attachmen =24578:attachment] The pics were there, dont know what happened to them. Hope they come back.

Easy as, just belt it a couple of times with a jack handle or metal pole.
-
Hi Ian, check your email. I sent the files there, thats the only way i could work out how to do it, just remember you have to save it and open it with the wolf software, let me no how you go with it. Russell.
-
See if that works, the attachment isnt showing up as im writing this. If it does i think you will have to right click and save it and open it up through the wolf software ( thats my complete tune ). If it doesnt work ill screen dump whatever you need and post it up. Russell. cant get the attatchment up, ill just have to screen dump it.

Hi Ian, i have the wolf tuned for my RB20 but im at a friends place at the moment and my laptop is at home. When i get home i can post up or send you the maps if you like. Russell.
