R200s are LSDs....Paul Newmans and other various L series motors use them. -

HR30 Paul Newman Coupe Pictures
george.bryant replied to george.bryant's topic in Classic & Vintage (1950's-1980's)
also has a r200 lsd, and factory electric damper control, Paul Newman markings on interior. What else besides that and Exterior Badges/Decals makes a Paul Newman version? -

Took my Ebay Ball & Spring controller off as it doesnt seem safe to me. I got a GFB Atomic boost controller http://www.gofastbits.com.au/index.php?par...b_option=atomic to go on once my radiator is back. -

Well i'll pass on that Speedo then, thats neat how yours has Volts instead of Boost :-) I cant see any hoses coming from the bottom of the radiator. I would LOVE a Paul Newman Decal if you could do that for me! By the way the i sealed the crack in my radiator for the time being and its performing well so far. Regards, George -

My Radiator Finally Has A Crack In It.

With no success of finding a new radiator for my hr30s l20et i found a place that was very very helpfull and it making me a aluminium top tank to replace the cracked plastic top tank of my radiator. I shall post pics once its all finished. What steps should I take to remove the radiator? Is there anything I should know? Regards, George -
I put my Ball & Spring Boost Controller on today and at first it was on like full boost. Went right upto 14psi. It sounded insane and it felt soooo much faster conpared to the 6 i was used to. Turned it down to around 11psi but the boost holds really weird and my auto wouldnt change out of 2nd. It kept kinda spiking and fluttering away on my boost gauge. Now my TCC Work BOV that I put on a week ago finally makes some noise as my boost it up. But it sounds bad...like a SSQ BOV and a Monza put together.... The crack in my radiator also grew around 15 cms and practically all my coolant escaped...I got some Selleys ARALDITE Super Strength to try to seal the crack but i wasnt successfull the first time as I got impatient after 6 horus and started the car to see if it would seal but it just blew holes through it, so im trying again overnight and hopefully it holds tomorrow. I'm getting a new Aluminuim top tank made up and put on for my radiator on monday so that should be good.

Paul Newman Versions
george.bryant replied to Ghostrider's topic in Classic & Vintage (1950's-1980's)
Do you guys have a plug under your driveres seat for something that isnt plugged in? I have the one that controls my electric seat anbd then that other one. Could you please scan that Rear badge Ghostrider and maybe email me a copy of it? As that would make my job of getting the decals made up so much easier. As for Paul Newman Versions they do have a R200 LSD which is apparently very very strong, and was used in the rally S12s and in many other race cars. You know too Ghostrider, even if it doesnt say Nissan or Skyline its still very obvious from the lights isnt it? Talking bout lights, a hilux pulled out in front of me and i cracked into it damaging my FL headlight, FL Guard and the bar thing under that is between the lights and bumper. Luckily theres a few people on www.trademe.co.nz wrecking r30s. So I've managed to get myself a mint new condition headlight. Plus i'm getting the tinted tailights (if they fit! i'm assuming they'd look awesome!). The thing that annoys me is how difficult is it to fit a headunit (cdplayer; etc) As the dash is an oddball size and doesnt have enough depth :-( Will post photos of damage later today. Just to let you know I have never seen another R30 Coupe in the South Island of New Zealand in my life, and where i live (Nelson Pop around 65,000). I've only seen about 4 other R30s and they were discusting looking sedans that hadnbt been looked after. Saying that; theres one accross the road from my house in a wreckers yard in MINT condition, its non turbo but very nice and they only want $1000. Wil post a pic up :-) In regards to the price, I got mine for NZ$600 which is about AUD$550 it was Registered and had a current Warrant of Fitness (WOF in NZ). It has blown up on me twice but it still keeps going. I'd like to take it to Australia next year when I go back to Sydney, then eventually sell it on in Japan. Regards, George -
L20et Or Rb20det Turbo Onto Fj20
george.bryant replied to george.bryant's topic in Classic & Vintage (1950's-1980's)
cheers everyone! Adam RSX: 45mms or? I jsut helped a mate sidedraft his 2.0L Rebuilt Rally Pinto Motor for His mk5 S Cortina. It is horrible to get running correctly. What a absolute pain in the ass. Ghostrider those vg30 turbos kick ass on rb20dets So should be amazing on a L or FJ -
As topic and description. I need a new motor. I'm interested in getting a Fj20 non turbo motor that i've sourced for a great price, i can get a top mount turbo manifold for cheap too, will my L20et turbo bolt up? What needs to be done if anything? Also, will a RB series or L series gearbox bolt upto a fj20? Do i need a different bellhousing? I was thinking of even maybe setting up a fj20 with sidedrafts :-P regards, George

Paul Newman Versions
george.bryant replied to Ghostrider's topic in Classic & Vintage (1950's-1980's)
The Paul Newman badges and exterior decals may have been a option when the vehicle came from the factory. That's what i figure from the elderly man i purchased it off. My bonnet and front trim are also a wee bit off on the colours for some reason. Another thing i noticed is that I have 2 buttons for things i dont even have on my vehicle (some weird headlight dip button, and light wipers). Maybe my car isn't a PNV but I always thought it was just by the way its set up....I was going to buy a Paul Newman rear badge from Nissan but at NZD$113 ill pass...I'm going to get some decals made up for it :-) I'm going to get a L28e and a 5spd 280zx box and ecu etc from a man here whos wrecking a 280z. I'm getting all the bits for around $150 so i'm stoked. Then I can make a L28et using bits from my L20et I cant wait!! Do you think...you could get a mould made from the Iron Mask Bonnet :-) Maybe we could all chip in and do some sort of group buy. I'm sure theres alot of places in Sydney that could do such things (I used to live there 2 years ago). Is it true that the Paul Newman Versions are worth over AUD$10,000 in Australia? -
