My Project For The Last Year- New Pic On The Second Page
Style32 replied to Style32's topic in Australian Capital Territory
Its mainly the wheels that really hurt us in price, a new set of R33 lights i got quoted around the $1200 mark so i thought well $1600 for R34 lights aint too bad. The front bar is at a much more driveable height usually we just had the coil overs all the way down for the show. The problem i came across with the bee R kit is that it isnt even bolt on, they provide you with no brackets/instructions as to what needs to happen to get this all together whilst they provide with you with many of panels a real R34 GTR bonnet is not an easy item to find, making the brackets for the bonnet and lights was another adventure in itself. For those daring enough to attempt it feel free to pm for a more indepth guide as to what it will take, i was extremely involved in the build of the car and could tell you what it took almost every step of the way and what costs you could be looking at. And also for those who are handy with a welder and some skills with fibreglass knock off about 3000-4000 off the price as you will save your panel beater a large amount of time making all these little brackets. Edit: Please remember guys this price was for the widebody aswell, if you just wanted to bolt an R34 front end on theres no reason why it couldnt be done for around the $11000 mark including a complete respray, again if someone wants a price on what it took me to get just the R34 front including labour PM me the standard R34 conversion guards are fairly normal width so a wheel change wouldnt really be necessary. -

Theres nothing quite like getting a trophy for all the hard work put into the car, i was a bit worried before it was finished but after i saw it i couldnt have been happier, truly a one of a kind. Something tells me jerry wont be too keen on doing another r34 front end anytime soon Lol @ baconer, too much info? i never said it was cheap a nice detterent to those wanting to copy lol -

kk here we go, this is all off the top of my head. Lights - $1600 Fenders - $500 Bonnet - $700 Indicators - $110 x 2 Front bar - $450 Thats just on the front end, not including widening those guards further and makeing all the custom brackets to hold it on. The rest would go something like this. Rims - $4950 Tyres - $1650 Boot - $350 Sideskirts - $300 Rear Bar - $400 Painting/fibreglass/labour - $17,000 give or take about $1500 Spacers - $300 R34 bonnet hinges - $75 So nearly $29,000 in bodywork alone, now just the engine and interior to go and im done edit: spelling -

It has cost an absolute fortune but i wont go into detail , most of the work has been completed by j racing but i was required to source out all the parts myself, something i will not be doing in the near future if ever again. It has been quite a headache along the way with multiple complications coming up along the way eg. the guy taking out my windshield yesterday gettin ready for the spray broke it leaving me 10 days to get a new one before autosalon!! Cheers, Semo -

The yellow car in the backround is a Celica but i wont be taking any more pics of that as its not my car, it used to be the yellow new model celica with a bodykit and rims the licence plate was "quing" ?? but was rear ended so he decided to go full widebody on the whole car. The skyline has firenza semi slicks on the front 275/30/19 stretched, the rear has 275/30/19 in hankooks but they were temporary tyres the different brands seemed to make a massive difference even tho they are 275 width, they are going to be replaced with Pirelli semi slicks when the car is complete and the bugs have been sorted out. My car is currently all primed and ready to go when its all bolted back together ill get some more pics up, be afraid this thing is stupidly wide. -

Im not too worried about the quality of the paint, we spent alot more time prepping the car and make sure all the surfaces were perfectly smooth, spent a bit extra on supplies this time opting for some higher quality stuff. Also very minimal bog was used, if a fibreglass surface wasnt quite right we did it again rather than just bogging over it, and particular attention was payed to the gaps inbetween the bonnet and gaurds and boot etc, making sure all of them were even. It will be street driven so we took into consideration the height of the car and am applying stone guard on any surfaces that we can. We also used paint that can be repaired without spraying half the car. -

Thanks for the positive comments guys, its been a long road to get all the bodywork done, alot of time and money has been put into it but the attention to detail from the boys at J racing is amazing they really pulled out all the stops on this one. And yes got just a bit of width, the final measurement was around 65-70mm wider on all 4 corners with 10.5" rears and 9.5" fronts probably gonna get the rear width extended to about 12" maybe 13". But not really a great need until the engine work is complete. All in good time ive still got a couple years to tweak it. No expense spared on parts, it has a real R34 GTR bonnet, genuine Volk GT-V's, Genuine lights, racing fuel flap yet to fitted but the fuel pipes have been extended. Still tossing up on changing the side mirrors and what style side indicators to use. All hand made fibreglass guards which took forever to get perfect (the line around each guard took 3 hours per corner to look right) -
Welcome to the world of CA's, does there appear to be a frothy substance in the radiator only when its on? more than likely the head gasket is gone, CA's are bordering on 20 years old. The poor 4 cylinder is on its lasts legs. Most 180's or jap cars for that matter have had a hard life, its just a matter of getting one that wasnt treated as bad as others. Cheers, Semo
