I need to completely flush my ATTESSA system and it has been recommended that I use this fluid. Where can I get Castrol Transmax Z ATF in Melbourne - seems the usual places don't have it. Regards Andrew

I wasn't questioning the plenum design, like I said OEM stuff is usually very good. I was musing over the similarities to the question at hand. We can even start talking about splitting the atom, at the end of the day I don't think an after market fuel rail is worth the money, particularly if you can fit different types of injectors to a standard unit. They only way to deal with this is a bench test - I guess you would measure spray pattern at various flow levels and pressures. Anyone got a few hours and $$ to spare??? Regards Andrew

I always wondered about that - especially with say the GT-R plenum design. For the sake of the discussion, wouldn't the fuel reg provide a constant pressure environment by continually adjusting for pressure variations generated by injector openings? With 40+ lb's (excluding manifold pressure reference changes) of fuel pressure in the rail I wouldn't have though that the first couple of injectors would ever be starved. Regards Andrew

Sorry to hijack, I would have thought that a correctly rated fuel pump before the pressure regulator and correct pressure after the regulator would be more important than flow. Flow is more or less function of these two things. Having one or two entry points would make no difference. I too have an R32 GT-R with 310 RWKW with a standard fuel rail and 800cc Green Sard Injectors. OEM equipment is so durable when used within it's intended parameters that I wouldn't bother considering much else, it's a waste of money in my opinion. Regards Andrew

Yes it was unfortunate that Kier's car blew an engine on the second pass. Brescani's just packed up after that and I left when that happened. I agree on the bogan element, but you can't control that. The $20 proved very steep for the quality of competition. Most of the bracket competitors were 15 Second+ cars. A friday night meeting cost's less with far more depth of competitors. It's a risk putting an even like this on and focussing on a small cross section of vehicles. Hopefully lessons will be learnt. The event needed to be run with far more "crispness" - starting at 6pm instead of 5pm with no explanation to a paying crowd is not good PR and will not encourage a return visit at the next event. Not staging cars in the pit lane for next bracket wasted a lot of time when there were only 3 or 4 cars in some brackets. Please take this as constructive feedback as that is what it's intention is. Regards Andrew ps. The food prices at Calder are getting just plain rediculous. $3.80 for a 600ml Pepsi, a people say Bank's are bleeding people dry...

Totally agree, I have a standard air box with normal filter and no cold air mods and somehow managed 310 RWKW Pods are for bling.

no idea, anyone else care to chime in? Regards Andrew

Thanks, I have a quote from Race Radiators here in Melbourne for a 40mm one for $680. Was looking to see if there were any second hand ones around. Regards Andrew

Looking for an alloy radiator if anyone has one that they don't want anymore. I'm in Melbourne. Regards Andrew

Attessa E-ts Fluid Type For Track Work
BBGTR replied to BBGTR's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Not yet, I need to put some road wheels back on tomorrow so I'll have a bit of a sticky beak then. My STi would spit front bearings out after about 3 events. I was hoping the GT-R carriers would be stronger! Cheers Andrew -
Attessa E-ts Fluid Type For Track Work
BBGTR replied to BBGTR's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Thanks Duncan, that's a great help. I suspect it may also be a wheel bearing, I will need to check them also. Regards Andrew -
Hi, Apologies if this has been covered in the past however, a search didn't come up with anything. I have a May 1994 R32 GT-R that is used for club track events. I am new to racing GT-R's as I have been racing subaru's for a few years and they have very different 4WD systems. At a recent track day at Phillip Island I had the 4WD light come on after my first flying lap with a vibration through the steering wheel. I was told when I got home by a fellow Vic SAU Forum member to check the ATTESSA Fluid levels. I have and it is an inch below the minimum mark with the ignition switched to "ON" as per the service manual . So it appears on the face of it that was my issue. Given the level of the reservoir should I flush the entire system and put new fluid in given it will be competing at 10 track events a year at a minimum or just top it up? What is the preferred fluid to use for track oriented cars (ie Any different from the Nissan fluid specified in the service manual)? Regards Andrew

thanks Ferni, I was winging to Jack, Aaron - actually anyone who would listen on Saturday about my issue. I'll have a look tonight - is it in the same location in R32 GT-R's - as that's what I have. Regards Andrew
-
I wouldn't have a clue about Datsun 4WD systems. I'll have a look, thanks. Andrew

Thanks for the mention Jack. I didn't have the best of days with the 4WD light appearing on the dash after the warm up lap in every session. Couldn't really get a decent lap, so it's a call to Ben on Monday for a diagnosis. Shame really as it performed well at Calder. Well done to all the boys in the 40's. Cheers Andrew

R32 Gtr Factory Boost Gauge Signal Location
BBGTR replied to BBGTR's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Thanks for the tip, here was my problem... Cheers Andrew -
Hi, My factory R32 GTR boost gauge has recently started to only show a "0" boost signal. That is, no vacuum or boost, which leads me to suspect that the boost line has blown off somewhere as that represents atmospheric pressure. Now the gauge itself gets an electrical signal from a map sensor somewhere and I want to find out where that might be. At least that way I can make sure I don't have a boost leak or a hose hasn't blown off. Anyone got any ideas? Regards Andrew

Aaron, If you're not in the 44's you're a pussy!!

Hi, yeah that's my car - first time I've had it on the track. Was very happy with the day as nothing broke or fell off. It's a heavy dunger though - I still have 2 secs to find to get down to my Sti times.. Cheers Andrew
