Time Attack Series 2008 Event: There will be a 6 round series, requiring each driver to complete 3 Sprint Track Rounds and 3 Clubman Track Rounds. There will be 4 half track days for each of the clubman and sprint tracks that will be eligible for points. The best 3 of the 4 of these half days completed by a driver will count as point’s rounds for that driver (A driver can miss a round on each track and still be competitive). (The series is points based; therefore all drivers are welcome to any event as always) The winners of each class, and the place holders, will be presented trophies at the end of the year. Class Structure: A: Street Class B: Open Class Division 1 (A, B): AWD - Battles of GT-R vers EVO vers WRX vers GT-4 etc Division 2 (A, B): Forced Induction - Battles of 4/6/8 Cly 2WD Turbos, Rotaries, Skylines, BA's etc Division 3 (A, B): V8 Naturally Aspirated - Classic Ford vers Holden with some Toyota power Division 4 (A, B): Naturally Aspirated ( but not V-8 ) - All 4 and 6 cylinder cars including Rotaries General Rules: Nitrous prohibited. Roll Cage Permitted in all classes. The same driver must drive the same vehicle for the duration of the series. The combination of vehicle and driver shall collect points. Modifications must not be made which reclassify the vehicle during the series. Points are not transferable between classes. A: Street Class: The Vehicle must be constructed by a major manufacture. Must have a rear exiting exhaust system with a muffler. Must be road registered. Must have OEM glass. Must have OEM doors. Must have both front seats (can have a race seat and a standard seat) and basic interior in the front half of the cabin. (Removal of carpet, stereo etc and liner allowed but not the dash) Must not have in cabin adjustable brake bias / pedal box. Must have DOT approved street legal tyres. Tyres must not have “For race use only” or “Not for highway use” marked on them. The tyres cannot be grooved slicks etc (See tyre register thread for further details) B: Open Class: All cars that do not fit into the Street Class and comply with the general rules. Points Allocation: 1st = 12 points 2nd = 10 points 3rd = 9 points 4th = 8 points 5th = 7 points 6th = 6 points 7th = 5 points 8th = 4 points 9th = 2 points 10th = 1 point A minimum of 5 laps must be completed at a round to be eligible for points. Tyre Register: For the street class tyres must be grooved and some wet weather capability. Slicks are allowed in race class. There is a tyre register so there is no confusion as to what category a tyre belongs. Click this link -> http://www.timeattack.com.au/forum/viewtopic.php?t=139 If you have a tyre that is marginal please contact pruzic@tpg.com.au for a ruling. Otherwise you may be reclassified on the day. Rulings: The organisers decision shall be final. No dispute shall be entered. First Event: February 5 Want to Get Involved, fill out the Join Form at: http://www.timeattack.com.au/mailing.php And I will email you out all the details.

How about a control tyre for street class. Get 50 - 100 guys wanting the same set of tyres and I bet a good deal could be worked out with a tyre supplier. That will help the budget minded and bring the parity that is being demanded. The problem with heaps of tech regs is that someone has to check all the cars. Simpler is better if it is possible. I agree that Russ should be left to come up with some rules and put them up. Not everyone will agree with them, but if he is putting in the effort to organise such a huge event then I think he should get final say and be respected for it. Something to remember is that this will be the first event like this so it may not be perfect. Enjoy it and bring back constructive (but not critical) comments to help develop it into the future.

Thanks Eug, I've been away for a few days. We will be running 7 to 9 full days next year and launching our Time Attack Series. The rules have been bounced around the group for a month or so and will be up on the web site soon. I have sponsors on board so we will have event shirts and trophies at the end of the year. Go to www.TimeAttack.com.au and fill out the Join Now page. I will add you to the mailing list and will have info out about next year soon. Paul

It is great news. I have had early talks with QR about running track days there later next year. -
Happy Birthday Noel !!!! Play hard.

Congrats guys on a great result in Japan. Its good to see Australians stepping up to the plate and doing so well first time out. Roy - I'm glad you like my rules, I have adjusted to seat rule as it must not have read clear. I just meant car must have 2 front seats, race and stock is fine. Russ - I have made that booking for 2 full consecutive days at QR in September as discussed with you before you went to Japan. We will have to have a sit down soon and work out the QLD plan for this event. On a side note, I have started a tyre register for my series next year. Everyone may not agree where each tyre goes (street or open) but there will be no confusion on the day. Paul

Hi a20089, thanks for the totally honest review. I'm glad you love the functionality of the unit. I have a mix of R32 GTR and R33 GTR customers and they give similar reports. Its great to see you have explored the ins-and-outs of the different maps offered. The reason it doesn't do longitudinal is it wasn't felt to be necessary for improved cornering and the unit was built for circuit racing. For drag racing we have been talking about building a dedicated unit that has a different approach and also using front / rear wheel speed sensors etc. If you could PM me the details of the toggle switch you prefer and the wire that was a bit ambiguous that would be good. I like getting feedback. As far as selling them on the forum goes, I started building the unit for myself, showed a few mates what I was doing and they also wanted one. Then I showed some guys at a SAU dinner ages ago and these threads in the QLD section started. And as Duncan said, I put a post in the Technical section and it got closed because I was not a trader. I wasn't really sure at what point I crossed over from being a forum member who built something for the GTR community to a trader. I understand that the forum has an underlying business model and I respect that. But as I only sell a few of these units now and again, I didn't feel like paying for advertising. I must admit I did not persue pricing options etc. I'm a senior design engineer so my marketing skills are not that great. I enjoy building electronics for racing, so I have been working on my new projects with a few race guys. I had a chat to the local QLD exec and they are happy for me to post my developments and ideas for discussion on the members forum (www.sauqld.com) so thats where I now post stuff about my new USB Race Logger, Engine Monitor, 4WD Controller (and some new stuff I have not disclosed yet ) If someone like Lunatikk can organise a buy option from me and thus be one step removed, and that is cool with the forum then I am happy to help out. If you really think I should become a trader then please PM me some information. Thanks guys. Paul

Hi Mark, I have added you to the mailing list etc. If you want to drive at Nov 27 you have to book in. Usually day is booked out before the event. The morning is nearly full, but the afternoon still has plenty of space. Paul
-
Sorry Troy I haven't had a chance to process it yet. I will do it tonight !!!

Just check my web site and its up now ?? Each set has 1 warm-up, 5 hot, 1 cool down. Everyone has personal preference, just cause you don't like running the National doesn't mean others don't love it. The majority of each half day is on the shorter circuit anyways. Just the last hour goes to the national.
-
Make sure you get to the Tues night dinners etc. Don't wait till you get your stuff. Fun night out.
-
Keep us posted on how you go. Any questions please PM them to me. We fitted a controller to a wild R33 GTR on the weekend. Can't wait to see that at the track on Nov 27.

Really looking forward to see you guys run on Friday. I still remember my passenger ride in the beast like it was yesterday. Congrats guys on the Japan time attack. Can't wait to see the video.
-
Hi Dave, thanks for the PM and email. I have 5 in stock at the moment. I have also put togther a web page on my track day web site with some info etc 4WD Controller Info
-
The guy said to service it just belt the crap out of it with a rubber mallet. Keeps the power from compacting.
-
Its always good to have a fire extinguisher on hand when involved with motorsport. The guys I got mine from warned that the dry chemical will pack hard over time when installed in the car. Something to keep in mind.
-
Yea Bunta, I agree. Good idea Col, start another thread will all the dyno crap in it and we can keep this one clean and on topic. I think new people to the scene would get benifit out of the info and at the same time threads like this one won't become bloated. People could post up their results at Signature here (and similar threads for other workshops in QLD) and discuss dyno stuff in a single location. Sounds crazy but I think it could work.
-
Hey guys, lets stick to the fact that Mick now has a dyno and is doing good things with it. I am as much if not more interested in the drivers feel of how the car now runs. Out of corner punch, throttle response etc are the things that make a great tune. These things are much harder to achieve than a final figure and have a lot more meaning to the driving experience and lap times etc. Mick takes a lot of pride in his work and everyone who has had their car tuned so far and has posted is very happy with the results. As FineLine said, lets not get caught up in the crap of dyno sheets and shoot out mode etc. Those arguements are as old as Moses. I may sound biased as my car is currently strapped to his dyno. My results will be seen on the circuit at the Oct 5 track day!! Paul
-
Hey guys, only a couple of weeks to go now. Get booked in if your keen on a drive.
-
My R32 GTR will be tuned by Mick at Signature in the next week or two. Really looking forward to getting her back on boost. Col, Its a DynoDynamics dyno.
