  3. I have spoken to several experienced motorsport people, including people who have competed in the top levels of the sport. The feeling is that I have acted in the spirit of the sport and so have the guys who had bought street legal tyres for a street event. I will make changes to the rules for the RWD Shoot-out which is coming up in a few months. I will not be commenting any further on this issue. This thread should be about hailing the skills of the GTR drivers who brought victory to our team, as is the case on the similar thread in the EVO forums for their drivers. I congratulate you for your victory on the day !!! All best times have been updated in the sticky thread. Paul
  4. Records have been updated. Enjoy !! Paul
  5. The tyre debate is difficult. The guys who were running those tyres bought them as "Street Legal" which they are and therefore thought in good faith they were running street tyres. Others see them as street legal semi slicks and therefore race tyres. So now I have the guys who were not running them telling me they were robbed because the others had semi slicks and I have the guys who purchased street legal tyres saying they were on street tyres and it would be unfair to reclassify them. So as the rule maker who did not foresee this quandrum (this being the first formal event I have run) I am forced to chose which group of guys I want to hate me. Paul
  6. Hi Guys, Thanks for all the great feedback. The day was a blast. The AWD battle on track was fierce with some surprise results and unfortunate early retirements. The event was about getting through the preliminary rounds and still standing stong for the sudden death 3 lap battle on the Sprint track with a single best lap taking the prize. The final battle was between 3 EVO's and 2 GTR's and was going to be close. The final results in the Race Class: 1. Michael R32 GTR 57.32 2. Mark EVO IX 57.65 3. Steve R34 GTR 57.79 4. Terry EVO IX 58.53 5. Michael EVO IX 58.96 The final results in the Street Class: 1. Chris R32 GTR 58.53 2. Nathan R34 GTR 1:00.10 3. Trent WRX 1:01.69 4. Stuart WRX 1:05.08 2007 AWD Shoot-out was GODZILLA's day. The 80's designed beast was to stand up once again to show its dominance. See you next year !!
  7. Yea man get out there any way you can. This is the first QLD AWD Battle day. See you guys in the morning. Pit Bay 1 belongs to the SAU !!! Paul
  8. Hey Ian, get there about 12:00pm so we can get you checked in etc. I thought you were on the mailing list ?? Paul
  9. March 28 - AWD Shoot Out Qld Raceway Afternoon Session Starters List
  10. Hey Guys less than a week to go. I will have the final running list shortly. Its a full event. It would be great to see lots of SAU member support for the GTR's running out there !!! Paul
  11. IanB, you are still in. The running list is at: http://www.timeattack.com.au/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2 Paul
  12. I agree with Azzurra and the guys, I thought the QLD section was for members who know each other (from the dinners etc) to have a chat on a day to day basis. I agree that becoming strictly Skyline discussions will kill the QLD forum. If you want detailed Skyline info the main forum covers it. I enjoy reading a funny story from someone's weekend, or something they may want to share. Paul
  13. Another Tuesday night I cannot make
  14. Hey Guys, I was talking to Nabsie the other night and I said I would like to unload my old Ford Laser and have an EVO as the family car and a GTR as the track car. His reply was, you will never get that off the ground with Louise (wife), its an EMU the bird that will never fly...... So whats your EMU ?
  15. Probably be good to be there by 12:30 at the latest to get parked and into the driver briefing.
  16. Hi Alan, Looking for track days, I'm your man. Check out this link to my site: http://www.timeattack.com.au/ We are having a SAU afternoon at Qld Raceway on May 17 and the AWD shoot-out is coming up March 28. There is always good Skyline representation at the day. As for a tuner, I now have Mick from Signature working on my car and am happy with the progress. We are currenlty looking at a track day brake upgrade from the standard Nissan gear. I hope to have it all sorted by the March 28 track day. Mick's website is: http://www.signatureperformance.com.au/ Paul
  17. Queensland nateplates is salisbury does my 4WD Controllers etc. Paul
  18. I'm trying hard. Got the new intercooler sorted out. Getting a fuel surge tank done and looking at the brakes. I have you on the list J-Boy !!
  19. Hey J-Boy its good to see your back. I heard rumours you had sold your car and were out of the scene. I'm glad they were not true !!! It will be great if you can make it to the shoot-out. I am also trying to prepare my car at the moment on the tight budget.
  20. Hi, To get on the mailing list, go to www.TimeAttack.com.au and hit the join now button. You will then get emails about all up coming track days. I have fixed the date, it is MAY 17. Sorry about the confusion. Can everyone intending to come to the day make sure you have joined the above mailing list so I have you in the system and also send me an email booking in. If there are more than the two groups I antisipated then I want to make sure I have enough spots for everyone ! Paul
  21. Don't be scared about the event. It will be run to the format of all my track days. The racing is against the clock as always with all the on track safety rules applying. The GTR turnout so far is huge. The street class is thin on starters though, so if your thinking of having a shot, book in now. There are about 10 spots left. Paul
  22. Sorry I missed another one. Had to go visiting to hospital last night. Seems Tuesdays have been cursed for me in 2007.
  23. Hey guys, this is about 3/4 booked now, so if your keen get in now !! Paul
  24. Hey guys, I have got your emails / PM's regarding email addresses. I have not been at the computer for a few days. Doing all the updates now. Eug, send me a PM with your name and email address or just fill out the form on my web site at: http://www.timeattack.com.au/mailing.php Paul
  25. Its not that scary. I think most guys are "stand-off-ish" on their first session on the track and then get the idea pretty quick. Just be conservative until you get the idea of the braking points etc.
