  7. All good questions. Unfortunately I don't have firm answers. If you have a couple of months then give me a chance to get done. Something to keep in mind with these sorts of units is the flexibility of sensors. My units support any sensor as long as you have a calibration table of voltage versus sensor reading its easy. I have put sensors through calibration for guys as well when there was no data available. I can either sniff the factory sensors or add additional aftermarket sensors. The number of channels is another thing, I am aiming for over 20 analog channels, plus wheel speeds, gearbox speed, RPM etc, GPS for lap times, splits predictive times. I will also do a sensor module with 3 axis accelerometers (gtr just sniff factory ones) and gyro to keep the cost of this one reasonable (I find the commercial ones usually way overpriced). Plus am looking at doing the 2 channel steering angle interface for the Skyline. Data logging capacity will be in the Gigs, depending on how big a compact flash you want to put in it. I use special compact flash units that are resistant to the bit inversion you find on the cheaper units when the power is suddenly cut which can corrupt data. Data logging rates are another thing I am aiming at getting high enough to be good for suspension travel logging, you need at least 250Hz on 4 channels to get good data on these channels. A lot of specs will say something like 1000Hz logging, but you have to divide this by all the channels and the per channel rates drop pretty quickly. Data resolution will be 12 bits for this unit, previously I was using 10 bits (1024 steps) which is heaps, but 12 Bits (4096) will mean fine resolution for sensors even if they only use part of the available voltage range. The system will have 3 processors, a 1.6GHz logging and graphics processor and 2 x 40MIPS hard real time processors for data capture, control lines and alarm outputs. My usual external audio alarm and dual stage shift light plus warning light that I use on the EM PRO II will be available on this unit. Including external alarm acknowledge and page select buttons. The screen will be very cool. Gauges, dash layouts, data analysis and special modes such as Time Attack, Drag Racing or Hill Climb to configure the feel of the system for that event. At this stage I don't want to go into the full details of the unit or the display (7" touch screen ) as we are still shaking down the look and feel of the interface and designing the data analysis modes. I would like to think you will be able to do post race analysis in the car and then go to the laptop software for really detailed analysis. I have been working with a few workshops who are heavily involved with racing in developing and designing the unit. I am building the interfaces and software such that I will be able to continually improve the unit and release updates as the system is enhanced. My plan is to get the unit to beta phase and get a group of guys to test the units in cars so we can shake down the software. Then release the unit. I am hoping the user community will provide good feedback such that I can continue to develop new functionality and data analysis screens making the unit more and more powerful. So yea, that's where I'm headed
  8. Yea Noel is correct. Also with my unit you have the choice of using the factory sensors or new aftermarket ones, it doesn't really matter to me. It's just an input voltage matched to a calibration table at the end of the day and you can make and load new cal tables into my units easily. I have a new unit in the make at the moment, I'm integrating all the best stuff from my previous projects into one new one. I am hoping to have some sneak previews available soon. Working on it flat out
  9. PRICE DROP: The Lot $900.00 Will post if required (additional postage cost)

  17. Thanks mir, we are looking forward to another big year for this event. If rear seats are out it will be in performance class. As a general rule, guys don''t usually have a totally stock car that happens to have a roll cage. Rules are always hard to make and never fit every case. We tried to get a set of rules that define a class of car, there will always be a few exceptions though ! Paul
  18. Rule update: Stock R35 GTR will be in performance class.
