Anyone Got A Registerable Shell In Vic
unarmed_skyline replied to unarmed_skyline's topic in Wanted to Buy
come on someone else has to have something as well. i have the cash ready and really need to get something to get my project going -
looks like the shells was damaged a little bit too much for it to be worth me fixing it, i might still check it out but yeh, i've found heaps of 180's and s13's but nothing else at all i just want to get one to start doing all the work

i work for honda, we get heaps of s2000s in and they are great cars, they never break down and are extreamly reliable although s2000 are over the power to weight in melb so if your in melb you will get dicked at one stage . skylines are also very reliable but they are genrally modifyed more and when they are modified parts break, and sometimes you take a gamble on how its been treated in japan. i bought a good 33 but there are people out here that have got dud's and that would really shit me. ANd just to put my 2 cents in, you can be the best driver in the world but your sharing the road with some F****G idiots, yes you can control yourself with your right foot not to be a dickhead, but without expirence having that extra power there can be a bad thing if some dickhead next to you decides to cut you off or swerves at you and your not expecting it, thats where accidents happens and my parents bought my 1st car for my 94 verada and i didnt respect that car anywhere neer as much as my skyline that i saved up for and respected 1000 times more (that being until it went threw a hole grrrr)

ok finally worked out exactly what im going to do. now i've sourced a r33 det rolling shell complete with brakes and everything, just got to go down next week have a look at it then buy it so hopefuly next week ill have that. as for eninge mod whilst the engines out plans are: bigger injectors ( still running the standard na ones,) prob go for 400ccish nothing too big replace timing belt, tensioners upgrade water pump, and adjustable cam gears. AVO front mount cooler kit, my cooler got totaled in the crash Just jap arop in alloy radiator (radiator was f**ked) also just jap oil cooler kit 13 row light weight Either a 16" or twin 12" thermo fans with custom shroud Im going to make up a custom air filter box to make the standard air box hide a pod in it with cold air induction. new 3" exhaust system, already sold my old one cause i thought i wasnt getting another 33 DOH retune my microtech im relocating my microtech into a hidden compartment into the dash, and then putting the stock one in its original place with fake wires coming off it g4 coilovers, (already got my whiteline strut brace) whiteline up-sized sway bars Body work is undecided but will be a sleak looking body kit nothing over the top, fiberglass fenders, fiberglass bonnet with standard metal bracing new rims my 4 stud roh mantis's wont fit a 5 stud car lol, prob get more of a jap style rims this time, but need to see choose body kit first paint job bucket seats re-apolster rear seats and fabric trims in colour/metiral to match buckets re-do my stereo, lay all the wires properly whilst the car is stripped and i have 2 really good remote start alarms that i got for free off work so ill put one of them in too quite a mod list i reckon hopefully it will be finished within a year, but it should be driveable in a few months EDIT: GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR just found out 33 shell is unregistable because it failed compliance

Twin Charging Question
unarmed_skyline replied to unarmed_skyline's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
reading what this other guy has done in the link abve he has used the intake into turbo then into charger and the chargger does most the work but it does help the turbo spool quicker by sucking threw as you said, very interesting read, i was looking into doing it not like the vw set up where the supercharger turns off when turbo hits boost but that would be rather easy i would think as chargers like the sc14's have an electromagnetic clutch which justs needs 12v to turn the charger of, you could run it off an rmp switch, but this type of sequential set-up has been tried lots of times and lots of people seem to have lots of trouble with it there was another car that came out factory twincharged the nissan supermach cant find much info on it thou. -
Twin Charging Question
unarmed_skyline replied to unarmed_skyline's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
i've read heaps about twincharging and the asociated costs, but exevything i've read is run threw the charger then threw the turbo and are always a sequention set-up where the supercharger cuts off when the turbo kicks in, what im trying to work out is it is possible to run them both at the same time, and run separatly not threw each other and also is it going to give any power gains i reckon if its possible to do it could be done retilivly cheap, run a microtech with a map sensor, do all your normal full pump/injector mods, get a twin entry cooler, then try it with a stock turbo and a v6 toyota blower (i know they are gay but this is a cheap example). all that needs to be fabed would be the brackets and belt set-up for the charger which isnt to hard then setting up with piping, then tune it all, -
Twin Charging Question
unarmed_skyline replied to unarmed_skyline's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
yeh i understand they have completly different boost curved supercharger being relitvly liner and turbo completly different, and i know that most set up's use them sequentionally that way you can run a really big turbo with the supercharger for the low down toqure thus no lag but i am just wondering why you cannot run both at once?? -
OK i got no clue if this is right but it was my thoughts Now the power/ responce has part to do with boost and part to do with air volume. now say you were running a turbo running 10 pound actuator out of a stock turbo, rather small say the outlet is 1.5" (i have no clu just guessing) then you run a supercharger also running 10 pound wheel with a 1.5" outlet now if you run both these into a twin entry cooler with a 3" outlet and 3"piping all the way threw to the intake i know that the system would only pump out about 10 pound into the mainfold but would the extra flow be worth it? it is really just the same as running a turbo with a 3" outlet but it wouldnt have the associated lag with the system, i hope you can understand what im saying made more sence in my head lol.

i did some research a little while back i know for the 33's that the turbo ecus will work, half the places i rang said it will half said it wouldnt so i went out and bought a plug and play microtech and i had no probs with it, the standard tune was a bit iffy but after the dnyo it was great

OK, i still havent found a shell to put my motor in, i was looking for a 180 or s14, but after much thought and a little spireted driving of my mates skyline, i just loved the feeling my 33 had, so im leaning more towards a skyline shell now anyone got any registerable shells in melbourne? i dont mind a little bit of panel damage as long as theres no chasis damage interested in 32 or 33, would love a 34 but they are a bit out of my price range

unfortunatly pretty slow atm i've had a heap of friends birthdays, and havent had much time to do much work, i've got most of the wiring loom out, taking apart most of the interia, drained and unconnected most of the hoses i just got to rip the engine out next, then i got chuck some new goodies at it, new water and oil pump new timing belt, bigger injectors and a few other tihngs, as for a shell i've found a few 180sx's but im kinda going off that idea looking more now for an s14 with s15 front but i havent been able to find any shell's anywhere so im stranded a bit on the shell atm, im keeping my eyes out thou cause i want something a little different not as common, im relitvly strandard with what i can do untill i get a new shell, then the fun begins ps. if anyones looking for parts i still got a lot lieing around.

Why A Naturally-aspirated Skyline?
unarmed_skyline replied to EVILTD's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
i sorta felt a bit insulted by the mannor that quistion was put forward, i love my car when it was na spent 2 years very sporty great handling with not to much power that is was a great learning car, and heaps of fun to drive. i only turboed mine cause i wanted to mod it myself i would have gone 3lt bottom end nah but i didnt have the expertise, turbos are another thing that is going to kill your car, they are the reason for a lot of dead skylines RIP -
do a search in the how to section for wasted spark, its a very every well written article with what you need what you can buy and how to do it, read it then you will have all you need to no to be able to do it
