  1. how do they fail?
  2. bearings are one of the cheapest parts of and engine build so no point in reusing them. big risk getting a 2nd hand motor unless you get warranty and have NO aftermarket parts when you try to claim. rebuild will always cost a bit once you factor in machine work and gaskets etc. if you can do the labour yourself with some mechanic mates you will save ALOT. make sure you offer your mates some money but.
  3. do all the plugs look lean? might want to check the injectors are even. have you done a comp test after the so called tune?
  4. im keen, just got to finalise some numbers with mates. GTR goes in for paint in 2 weeks so im glad its in october.
  5. bout time Deano. 1sr run we do on old pac they will be black.
  6. WOW. That is crazy lucky
  7. lol If the hammer doesnt work try seeing if there is spark at the spark plugs and see if they are wet with fuel
  8. I built my rb26 then after a couple months and bit by the power bug i put in poncams and had it at tdc cause thats how u line the timing belt up. I bent the valves in cyl 6. Poncams have more lift then stock cams so its even easier to push the valves into the piston
  9. hope u havent killed the valves in cyl 1 and cyl 6 i did it on my 1st rb26 with poncams i bent cyl 6 valves and i did it by the book. a mate told me after that to get piston 1 on TDC as normal but then turn it back until all the pistons are at an even height, then install cams (no way the valves can hit cause the pistons are down,) get the cams to the right position then turn the crank forward till at TDC then install the belt, has worked every time for me now. annoying way to learn it but
  10. deano must have thought it was an RB26. do any of the other cylinders have compression?
  11. i wish all cops were like that. This thread should be removed so if any cops do read it they wont know how to check
  12. mine used to do every second time i started the car, now since i removed the alarm it hasnt done it, maybe it was drainng the battery a bit when i wasnt driving it
  13. Is it in english still?
  14. EDIT: the balance tube must be what im thinking of
  15. orings on the inlet side for the coolant block thing too. runs above the inlet manifold
  16. try the easy and cheap options 1st, new fuel new plugs and if you can borrow a mates ignitor. other than that get it on a dyno so they can see what the air/fuel mix is doing
  17. Wat spark plugs are u using? Wat gap did u set them at. Did u check if they where cracked or any trace lines on the white porcelain. How old is the fuel? Does ur laptop show anything odd when the miss occurs.
  18. U running a catch can? I agree with Stao oil contamination. Might be due to a little bit of blow bye letting fuel into the oil and breaking the oil down did the new turbo come with a new actuator?
  19. really???? most cold start setups are richer. check that the TPS is setup correctly
  20. Awesome thanks. Well i guess i didnt put them on wrong then.
  21. Yeh thats wat i was thinking. Just wanted some other opinions
  22. Ive tried looking for that. I ve never had this problem. They have an aggressive side and a not so aggressive side. Wat u reckon
  23. Just fitting my new wheels and ku36's but not sure which direction the ku36 are supposed to run. No direction arrow only inside and outside markings
  24. Did u clean the throttle bodies with carby cleaner? I did this to my 1st rb26 and had similar symptoms. I had to replace the throttle bodies. Check there is no air leaks at the throttle bodies either. Can also try blocking the idle control valves air pipe. If it idles fine then u need a new idle control valve. Last but not least disconnect all of the throttle linkages from the main linkage and see if the idle is fixed they might be over adjusted
