Testing If Vct Is Working Properly
urtwhistle replied to Chi100188's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Cheers Rolls, Good point on the earthing. I wired the solenoid directly to the battery and it made a very audible click. So I believe its definitely operating. But whether it's working properly under it normal conditions I'm yet to see. Will keep you informed with what I find. I think you might be on the money with the 10kph bit too. I set the data logger to record the VTC output and with the car stationary I couldn't get the ecu to trigger. But it appears to trigger an output once moving. -
Which will be fine for the Rb30 maybe not so much for the RB25

Sweet cheers for the reply. Now to find out if there is any advantage to the other options. I think the billet compressor wheel is a deffinite must have for the Rb30 too.

Testing If Vct Is Working Properly
urtwhistle replied to Chi100188's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Yeah I'm aware of that part Rolls, What I probly should have mentioned is that I'm trying to find the source of why my Rb3025 is so laggy. when it shouldn't be. It's booked in with a shop for diagnosing next week to see if I have missed something obvious when I did the timing. I guess what I should have said is at idle should the solenoid be seeing any voltage at all? I have 10V @ idle is this normal? and I also have 10V @ 2500 RPM ( with AC on, Car in gear) I would have thought it would be either 0v or 14v depending on which way it defaults to. I also wonder if the 34 needs more load on the motor to trick it to trigger when the car is stationary compared to the R33. Either way its going to a shop who hopefully will figure out whats causing the issue/s. -
Testing If Vct Is Working Properly

Hey guys I'm wondering if I have potential problems with VCT on my R34 also. I have tried testing it as well as I can until it goes on a dyno, so please give me your thoughts. I removed the VCT plug and applied power directly to the solenoid and it clicked as it should have. I measured the voltage at the plug @ idle and it had 10v but I couldn't get it to trigger and go any higher. I tried setting the power fc trigger points at 0 4500 and 7400rpm and 7400 gave the best boost response for some reason. I also tried driving around with it plugged in and unplugged and there was no difference. -
A TD06H-25G is bigger than a T67. I may be going one of these on my Rb30. Just trying to decide on what config I will go. IE 10 or 12cm turbine housing, TD06 or TD07 compressor housing, Port shrouded or unshroaded and cast or billet compressor wheel. any 1 wanna put there POV forward?

if it leaks now then you got serious issues lol

Brad, get the plenum faced off so that it is perfectly flat. From what Beau was saying thats your problem.

Eoi: S14, 100% Ready For Rb25

Is the exhaust manifold to suit 26 or 25? and was it made to fit in a R33 or S14? please PM -
Hey mate, not as much as you would expect. It only becomes expensive if you want to monitor multiple channels at once. I bought my sensor and amplifier from the states and wired it into either my datalogit or wideband. For simple monitoring you need the amplifier to give you a 0-5V analog signal output. It's when you wanna datalog 6 channels at once that you need some expensive specialised gear. Exhaustgas.com are damn quick in delivery also and the quality of the sensor and amp were great. http://www.exhaustga...BasketID==

I'm almost curious enough to try 1.

Has any 1 on here tried the KD external gates? I'm curious to see the quality. I mean the quality of the turbo's seem quite high for the price I wonder if the same can be said for other parts they offer. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/External-Wastegate-Turbo-Turbocharger-GT50-50mm-/270877815373?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3f1193724d

jeeez screw 15kg springs. I had to drive 400k's in a day once with my old JIC's and I vowed never to do it again. would have been wild on the track but screw that every day. I have herd of go carts that would have more suspension travel than that. you would need to almost drive with a mouth gaurd in so you didn't loose all your teeth. (ps basing every thing off my exp driving on WA B roads)
-
ah thats alright then, I had JIC's with 10 & 12kg springs it was friggen terrible on WA roads
-
any thing for a street car that has 4-6kg springs or less. any more and you will loose your teeth every time you do a rail crossing.

Hello I thought this may be interesting to some people. I have based my calc's off a RB30. with the following. 7k rpm max with the following load point marked on the compressor maps 3k, 4k, 5k, 6k & 7k TURBO CHOICE SPREADSHEET.xls
-
hmm if you find out can you let me know. I been running deka's for 18 months and I thought there pretty good but if they can get better !!!!!
-
Yeah I'm really torn between how I should go forward. It's a fully built Neo Rb3025 with 260deg cams. I drive the car to work every day so it can't be too much of a dog. The 1 thing that is really holding me back from going either turbo is the fact that I really really don't wanna have to go buy a new exh manifold and down pipe, external gate etc. That got old fast the last time I had to do that. I think the T67 would be absolutly mental on a rb30 like you said. but whether its an upgrade to the 3576 thats already on it I don't know. The other stupid option that I have is a brand new Scannia T4 GT3782 that I have sitting on my shelf gathering dust, but its just so damn heavy that it would need a very custom manifold to make it work. And then it's potentially no better than a 3582 other than it being free. chris

I'm really curious about these also. I'm currently waiting on a price to strip, assemble and balance my old hypergear GT3576 with a KD 3582 compressor wheel and cover kit. Depending on what the Perth thieves I mean professional turbo workshops charge me. I might end up buying 1 of these. I would love to see(work out) what would make more power and be nicer to drive on my RB30 between the KD 3582, TD06H-25G or even a 10cm T67

Sourcing Some Cheap Turbo Fittings - An To Mm
urtwhistle replied to No Crust Racing's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
go to any decent industrial hydraulics supplier. (yellow pages is your friend) forget calling them AN as they will look at you with a blank look. tell them you want JIC fittings like every 1 else does except car part suppliers. I use all Eaton (which is the industrial brand of Aeroquip) fittings on my car there cheaper & heavier duty, but they don't come in pretty colours. -
Odd High Flow Turbo? Trying To Get Some Info On It?
urtwhistle replied to BLITZ-26's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I think you missed the point of what I was getting at. All I'm trying to say is that Ball bearing turbo's are not the magical silver bullet that people think they are. I personly run an earls prefilter on my turbo but thats because it was part a clause in the warranty of the turbo that said if it was a brand new motor it had to have a prefilter on it. Fair point in my veiw. Chris
