  1. +1 for no wiper. my brother-in-law's 97 does not have one either...
  2. yeah sounds like coil packs... time to whip out the electrical tape...
  3. nice! makes sense considering the size of the US market... are they BF series guages or a different style?
  4. as far as i know, genuine defi gauges only come in bar... you'd have to go for a different gauge... having said that, i love my defi boost gauge, it's really clear and has some cool functions...
  5. i use the andes panel shop in derrimut... did a fantastic job on my car... leo is a champ... details are in my sig...
  6. sounds just like the problem i had with my coil packs... wrapped em in electrical tape to get a little more life out of em...
  7. could be your coil packs failing...
  8. congrats mate! all the best!
  9. yeah that black pearl scratch plate was a pain in the butt to get... i wanted all genuine fender parts (except for the pickups)... that was a custom order from the US. the volume and tone knobs were a catalogue item and the whammy bar end and pickup selecter knob were also from fender in the US... oh yeah, for any metal heads here, is anyone from here going to see arch enemy in november?
  10. i hot rodded my strat with EMG SAs... sounds fantastic with no noise! although i am looking a new EMG 81TW active humbucker which has a coil tap for my MH-400
  11. lol, i'm in 2 bands and don't get to practice as much as i'd like... and i have a baby on the way in the next 4-5 weeks! i won't get a chance at all!
  12. 100% correct! tone sap is a big issue. so is level reduction... no worries! i learnt a lot of stuff talking to other musos... i am still learning stuff...
  13. buffered bypass is a circuit within guitar pedals that attempt to remove tone suck when the pedal is switched off. this is done because if you have lots of pedals in a chain, the signal can get weaker and the sound can be tanrished. in true bypass, when the pedal is off, it's like its not even there. as for digital and analogue, digital pedals can sound a little artificial, not all of them boss make excellent digital pedals (DD-3 being a prime example).
  14. i love the vox and mxr pedals i have some boos pedals... most of the boss are digital and have buffered bypass whereas the vox and the mxr have true bypass and are analogue... but they are all great... boss dd3 is a fantastic pedal! the AX1500G is really good for practice (headphone jack means you don't need an amp)... some good effects and poor mans POD type amp modeling...
  15. i hear they're pretty good... although i am not the biggest fan of tone modelling and multi effects... i used to love it but found i could get better tones mucking around with a few pedals...
  16. yeah i have a korg AX1500G effect processor but only use it for practice and song writing... for gigs, rehersal and recording, i have 2 x distortion pedals - a vox cooltron bulldog and a mxr distortion iii... gives me a bit of variety... i don't use too many effects, i have delay, chorus, compressor, wah... i also have a tuner with mute and a noise supressor... pedal board was a bitch to make! i'm sure if i had the $$$ i'd go nuts and buy heaps of different pedals...
  17. nice setup! do you use any other effects besides the metal zone?
  18. there are heaps of great guitars for $1000 and under! EG: (not sure what type you like so here is a few different types - you can get these in melbourne) http://www.bmusic.com.au/prod3315.htm http://www.bmusic.com.au/prod3341.htm http://www.bmusic.com.au/prod4902.htm http://www.ibanezguitarcentre.com.au/Default.aspx?tabid=636 http://www.allansmusic.com.au/Product.aspx?p=140086 http://www.allansmusic.com.au/Product.aspx...=122837&r=5 yeah i am 2 bands at the moment, one is a rock/hard rock band and the other is a metal band... what sort of amp do you use? i have a Marshall AVT275X
  19. yeah $2000 is alot... the edwards in the link is about $2000... in fact next year my missus is getting me one of these for my 30th -> http://www.bmusic.com.au/prod3284.htm an MH-400 like mine is going for about $1500 if you shop around gibson les pauls are also mahogany and set necks... the EMGs are fantastic but so are blackouts... as for chug, all the way for sure... i'll give any metal and hard rock a shot!
  20. i did have problems with the pots in the epiphone but when i changed the pickups in my jackson to EMGs, i took the jackson pots and chucked em in the epi... no problems since... although i will be chucking EMGs in the epi at some stage too... both of those guitars were around the $2000 mark (they are a fair bit cheaper now though), to be honest i prefer the ESP/LTD it's got a nice heavy mahogany body for some great tone and sustain and the set neck is really nice. i actually use the jackson as a backup for the ESP/LTD. don't get me wrong, i love em both... you really need to try em out and once you buy one set it up properly. I will be getting one of these in the not too distant future -> http://www.espguitars.co.jp/edwards/cy/E-CY-165CTM.html
  21. AVCR it's only shit if you don't know how to use it... been running mine for years perfectly without a hitch... but anything from hks, blitz, apex etc should be fine
  22. i play guitar... i have 5 electrics at the moment with 2 more to come in the next 6 months! - 1995 Epiphone Les Paul - 1986 Fender Stratocater MIJ (hot rodded) - 1996 Jackson Dinky Reverse - 2005 Ibanez RG1527 (7 string w/ duncan blackouts) - 2006 ESP LTD MH-400
  23. my gtst doesn't have a rear wiper either... so it's not just a gtr thing...
  24. i had a similar problem... turned out to be the way the dimmer was wired up when the car got here... i removed the dimmer and it's been solid since... could also be the way the globe is sitting in the little plastic housing...
  25. i was with tpg and moved to exetel... tpg's customer service pissed me off so much that i churned...
