My 4dr 32 (just Tuned! 206rwkw On 10psi)
salad replied to salad's topic in Four door and wagon builds
Bit over $4000... Engine - $1000 Valve springs - $300 Turbo - $300 Gearbox - $1200 Clutch - $650 Slave Cylinder - $95 Tailshaft mod - $220 And various other costs, fluids, gaskets, silicon, blah blah blah I started pretty much from nothing, so that's why the cost is so high. And that cost only includes the labour for the tailshaft, havn't paid for any other labour... Right now it's not looking the best, it appears that a sponge/rag or something got left in the oil gallery of the bottom end and now it's all throughout the motor. Pulling the sump off tomorrow to try and get all the shit out... It keeps blocking the oil pick up and causing it to drop oil pressure -
Coilover Brands
salad replied to r_speedfreak_r's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
What the coilover kit is, is a threaded sleave that sits on the circlip instead of a spring seat. Then there is a spring seat on the threaded sleave, so it is a threaded height adjustment. I got the whole package from SK. I'm using Eibach coils instead of Whiteline because Whiteline dont make rectangular coils. At least not anymore anyway. -
The adjusters are for damping force, they will not affect ride height. Yes, your fronts are adjustable too.

Same as the kit discussed in this thread http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/t188741.html Bilstein make the kit, and then you can use any rectangular coil you want. Like the others, I've used Eibachs Got the kit from the groupbuy, it costs another $1000 or so ontop of the original shocks. I'm very happy with the results, and recommend the setup to everyone. I think you'd be hard pressed to find another "coilover" that will be as good for the same sort of money. -

I got the Bilsteins from Sydneykid's groupbuy, also have the "coilover conversion kit" with it. -

The reason for most people listing all the features now is everyone is about getting as many features for as little money as possible. In the end, you just get a shit damper, which in my opinion is the heart of a suspension system. Do your research first and try and find out as much about the damper as possible. As a general rule of thumb, I will avoid any coilover kit under $1600 (ISC, D2, G4, HSD, etc), but that's just my opinion, a lot of people are quite content to run them and are happy with them. I drove with one of those brands and thought they were absolutely shit. Spend as much as practical on your shocks and it will be a good base to work off of. -
Awesome HOPEFULLY, I wont need to though Not having your car for 2.5months really sucks! All I want to do is drive it!
-
Ric: Yeah, if all goes faultlessly over the next week, I'll be driving, if not, I should just have my car out there watching, and if tomorrow goes badly, well then, I'll either be in mum's Pulsar again or scab a ride off someone Initial post updated.

Rb25 Gearbox Into R32
salad replied to lwboosted's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
You sure? Mine sits in there pretty nicely. I dont think the RB20 sump offers any more clearance for the sump, the swaybar seems to be fouling at the front where the RB30 and RB20 sumps are the same shape. I will just be spacing the swaybar down to make it fit, shouldn't have to go too much, almost fits (stocker) as it is, and it's pretty low as is! -
Ferodo Ds2500 Pad Price
salad replied to gtr fan's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
TRW Lucas are a $55 pad... I killed them in 30 laps at Mallala, somehow I dont think they'd be better than the $300 Ferodos... -
Way too high, why would you want high spring rates in what is mainly a daily driver? Look into normal lowered springs, upgraded shocks and some swaybars to control the roll. Dont try and control roll with springs, especially not in a daily driver!
-
Added. Agreed with Madaz, if you're bringing extras, please say so and I'll add it onto the original post too The poll doesn't seem to be working the best, so I'll have the total number in the original post.

No washer from factory, so I assume it's fine without a washer
-
No, keep the eccentric pin as it locks the bolt in place inside the elongated hole. If you use a normal nut/bolt, it is free(ish) to move around under load in the elongated hole.

Extra Groove For Bilstein Shock For Eibach Spring
salad replied to djr81's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Pedders sell the spanners for about $20, so give them a try. Might have to get some Eibach helpers too, they're nice and thin! And they make an 80mm -

I spent too long waiting for the head to get done! Waited damn near 2 months for that, in the past 3 weeks, Simon and I (mostly Simon, cheers bloke) have built the engine, put it in the car, and made everything fit. Just gotta sort out all the problems that pop up now... Like the oil pump! ....VL engines are sick, broooooooooo -

OK, the RB30DET is FINALLY in, spent far too long waiting for the head, but eh, you get that. Engine is mounted heaps lower, bout 30mm, heaps lower than most guys with RB30s. Started it on Saturday, but got a small hiccup, oil spewed out everywhere from the oil pump, so now we have to rip that out, so timing belt, and sump off... Big job So close yet so far away... Was run straight out the dump pipe though, fark did it sound tough! This weekend, we're ripping the oil pump off and doing all we can to get it sealing, should be alright with a proper gasket in there though... So should be running properly this weekend, and then I'll get it off to a dyno ASAP. Will post up updates as they come. -
Dont mean to sound rude, but can you guys state whether you're driving or just coming out for a look see? Or (preferably) tick one of the options in the poll
-
There are another two open practices on Saturday the 10th of Nov and Friday the 16th of Nov. Those are the rest for the rear that are scheduled, so I'm pretty cut that I probably wont be able to drive at this one
-
Good man Simon

It's just a normal practice day held by Mallala, so just rock up and drive through the gates Will have to bring a little bit of money for the BBQ, I've just send Madaz a PM asking how much he'll need, so I'll post up and put it in the original post when I find out Also, everyone check the original post to see if you're down for coming or not. If not, give me a yell and I'll chuck your name in there
-
OK, I'll get onto it now. Also, I would be driving, but engine building doesn't isn't kind to me Giving the engine another crack this weekend, and if it works, I'll have 1 week to get it tuned, space my front swaybar down and fix my brakes... And then hope to god nothing lets go at Mallala... Wishful thinking MikeyGTRMike: I plan trying to organize another one probably in January as there are no other dates scheduled for circuit practice days for the rest of the year that I can attend. May also try and organize the same thing for a motorkhana or a drift day if anyone else is keen on those two ideas. I dont think the drift day one would work that well, but motorkhana might be a go'er. Cheap too, $25 to drive! Next one will have much more notice before the event
-
Yep, that's fine with me, I'm coming from North East, just off Gorge Rd. If anyone's real keen, we could even meet at the Caltex on Port Wakefield Rd and all head down in one group? Just an idea anyway.
-
Have added a poll so we can get an idea of numbers. Please do not vote if you dont have the intention of actually coming.
-
Oh, and what time was everyone thinking of heading out (non drivers)? I dont think I'd be that keen to get there as the driving's about to start, so I'm thinking about lunch timish? Like 12 or so? Everyone elses thoughts about this time?
