  2. Hi guys I just thought we could have a thread where everyone could post up links to articles on suspension/handling that they thought was informative. Recommended books would also be great. Here's a few that I thought were good: General suspension mumbo jumbo http://www.rqriley.com/suspensn.htm Good section on shocks http://farnorthracing.com/autocross_secrets.html FSAE paper on suspension http://campus.umr.edu/fsae/library/sae_paper/paper.html General suspension, covers different types of suspension, with pros and cons http://www.carbibles.com/suspension_bible.html Great stuff on dampers and how to tune them (great for you guys with 4 way adjustable shocks or the like ) http://g-speed.com/pbh/dampers.html Theoretical weight transfer stuff http://www.ozebiz.com.au/racetech/theory/wttrans.html More in depth stuff on alignment (toe, camber and caster) http://www.ozebiz.com.au/racetech/theory/align.html Great article on steering (ackerman or anti-ackerman) http://www.racing-car-technology.com.au/St...20Ackerman4.doc Tuning side of things http://www.wtrscca.org/tech.htm More suspension tuning http://www.corforums.com/smf/index.php/topic,1369.0.html Physics of Racing http://phors.locost7.info/contents.htm Pros and Cons of Twin-tube damper http://www.sportcompactcarweb.com/tech/060..._5/dampers.html Pros and Cons of Monotube damper http://www.sportcompactcarweb.com/tech/060...it_stick_part_6 Penske shocks tech manual, lots of good info in there AdjustableTechManual.pdf Wheel weight archive http://www.wheelweights.net Awesome stuff for choosing baseline spring/bar/shock rates, OptimumG tech tips http://www.optimumg.com/techtips_techtips.htm A HUGE assortment of articles from one of the writers of Racecar Engineering. http://rejsa.nu/forum/viewtopic.php?t=40875 So yeah, post up your own and hopefully this way, we can get a great source of info that doesn't require too much sifting through, just a bit of time to read Cheers
  3. Oh, if you're havin trouble finding the guy, it's NV_N01, good bloke. Promt delivery. I want to get one aswell but it looks like such a crappy job cos of everything being in the way. How long did it take you CEF11E?
  4. BUY MY CAR! My 32 needs to be faster damn it!
  5. Bump Make me an offer, the worst I can do is say no.
  6. At least you'll have a fast turd soon
  7. The movement/leverage ratios are 1:1 for skylines as the spring/shock unit is connected to the hub and moves vertically (not in an arc or on an angle). So 5mm movement of spring seat/lower bracket will raise/lower the car 5mm. Besides that, Al's on the money.
  8. The fronts would be too big for the caliper and wouldn't fit (280mm vs 296mm)
  9. Swaybars will provide a big improvement in handling and not that much extra harshness. Great upgrade.
  10. How much are the heights off by? Centre of wheel to guard? You should set them so that these are even.
  11. Any chance of the Bilstein/Eibach coilovers like in the S14/S15 groupbuys? I.e. A more track oriented setup
  12. You use that standard bolt with the Whiteline bushes. The bushes cant exactly be adjusted on the car so it makes the wheel alignment difficult. Set the bushes to about where you think you'd need to to correct the camber you have bearing in mind that the bushes adjust +/-0.75deg. The wheel aligner can then get your cambers even with the standard bolt.
  13. Alpine speakers gone Buy stuff, I need money real soon, make me an offer!
  14. Removing HICAS makes the car much more predictable on the limit. HICAS doesn't account for the driver's instinct to correct, so it keeps doing things when it shouldn't. Tomei kit is quick and easy but you dont remove the dead weight that you can by using a lockbar.
  15. You have double wishbone suspension. The angle of the strut makes no difference to camber like with Macpherson struts, you need adjustable upper or lower control arms or adjustable upper/lower control arm bushes. Most common is upper arm bushes. Have a look in the groupbuy section.
  16. The profile or aspect ratio is a ratio of the tyre width. So a skinnier tyre with a higher aspect ratio can have a similar diameter to a wider tyre with smaller aspect ratio. Eg. 205/55R16 is almost identical to 225/50R16 in rolling diameter. 225/45R17 is almost identical to 255/40R17 etc
  17. N15 pulsar one fits straight on, no mods at all, had for around $90 for trade.
  18. Which one? There are a lot of power steering hoses.
  19. My guess is retarded exhaust and advanced inlet. That seems to be the norm.
  20. Oh whoops didn't realise that he had a GTR. Anyway, 225/50R16 is 0.5mm smaller than 205/55R16, or 0.08% so all calculations hold Lucky me
  21. You can still find some RT-215s floating around, and they're usually a bit cheaper cos they've been superceded.
  22. With 245/40R17, your speedo will read 0.65% faster. 627.8mm rolling diameter With 255/40R17, your speedo will read 0.62% faster. 635.8mm rolling diameter Stock 205/55R16 is 631.9mm rolling diameter. Bees dick in it Different rolling diameters cause speedos to be out by a percentage not a static amount You've got the wider rim, may aswell use it and get the wider rubber if they're the same price. If it was me, I'd get which ever is cheaper though
  23. Ah yes, should've thought of that. Fix the hicas problem, or just lock it, and THEN get the wheel alignment, unless you want to pay for it to be done twice
  24. Ah k, got ya. No the car does not have to be running when it's wheel aligned.
