Photo taken at a testing session, love it because it's not meant to be like that...

Cracker of a race though, pity Webber wasn't up there. Makes me wonder if he didn't bin it at the end of Q2, probably wouldn't have been in all the traffic as he was showing some pace, but ohwell. Massa's beginning to prove a few people wrong, had quite a few passes and in trying conditions, is good to see.

Roy: Have you thought about using a linear sensor on the rack? We've found that to be cheaper and still gives decent data, just have to do a bit of maths in the software to convert from rack travel to steering angle.

Really cracked the shits when I heard that. I .really don't think that ITV could be any further up Louise's arse, it's rediculous.
-
Yeah, Z32 had the same calipers on the rear. I'm fairly sure they also had the cast alloy uprights though.
-
The eyelet type shocks will not fit the fork type uprights. But all R32 GTS-ts came with the eyelet setup on the rear. Only the GTS-4s and GTRs had the fork setup. I think maybe your uprights have been changed to the GTS4/GTR setup.

Top Secret Shock Absorber Rebuild Kits?
salad replied to b1lly's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
From memory, Top Secret use Aragosta shocks, which are Ohlins. So try contact an Ohlins dealer. I could also be completely off, but a phone call can't hurt. -
Cheap Ohlins For R32 On Ebay

Very thick shafts, seems kinda pointless in a double wishbone suspension setup to me... -
Agree that a 10s stop/go penalty is better than running out of fuel on the track. Although, they both would've given the same result. I thought 10 was debatable too, not the funnest race to watch...
-
Well, Alonso wasn't running as light as many had thought. Good to see the Renaults have picked up same pace, pity neither driver could turn it into a result.

Suspension/handling Articles
salad replied to salad's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Just found this the other night. It's a HUGE assortment of not too mathsy, not too simple articles by one of the writers for Racecar Engineering. A HUGE assortment of articles from one of the writers of Racecar Engineering. http://rejsa.nu/forum/viewtopic.php?t=40875 -
Suspension Literature

Oh, and this guy writes articles for Racecar Engineering, lot of PDFs there, decent amount of theory, and a fair bit of practical stuff too. Just found it the other night, been reading heaps http://rejsa.nu/forum/viewtopic.php?t=40875 -
Suspension Literature

Performance Handling by Don Alexander is quite a helpful one, not too complex, not too simple. A fair amount of stuff in there on tuning with tyre temps, which I thought was pretty handy, although I'm not sure how handy it would be in real life as it's not often you come into the pits hot. Milliken's probably a bit much for what you want, is mostly for design and endless calculations rather than anything incredibly helpful for tuning. Tyres, Suspension and Hanlding by Dixon is much the same thing. Have you had a look at my thread? http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Su...ic-t161623.html Might find something useful in there... Maybe... -
Rose jointed tie rod ends will only give you better steering response if your old ones are well and truely rooted. They can not give you more lock, you need different tie rods for that, namely different rack ends to add lock. The adjustable tie rod ends are adjustable for bumpsteer, they can help when your car is too low and has too much bumpsteer, but the better solution is to raise the car up so the rest of your geometry isn't screwed either.

Alonso definitely lifted? http://www.sportinglife.com/others/news/st..._Nightlead.html http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D4UCW9pJ638 Looks to me like Alonso went a bit wide in the turn, then Louise forgot to turn the wheel. You can see Louise was gaining on him, with plenty of time and room to get next to him. Alonso did move right a bit, but Louise was already too close. I think he just cracked under the pressure again. And what are these publicity stunts of BMW's you talk of?
-
Will also lower your roll centre. Basically, it's like having the front of your car lower (geometry gets worse), but you don't have the gain in lowering the CG (well, not as much as lowering the whole front down). As for how dramatic the change would be, it depends on how low the car is now, but even then, it's hard to say without modelling in a suspension analysis program. Or, someone with lots of experience (like Gary) can tell you how it would feel having all this stuff changed.

Tein Super Street Coilovers
salad replied to Antone's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
The problem with adjusting a car's handling balance with damper adjustments is they only work in transients, meaning, if you've got midconer understeer, shocks aren't really doing to do much about it. Then you've also go the problem of the shocks being single adjustables, so they either only adjust bump, or rebound, or they adjust both in a locked step for both. This becomes really tricky because what if you want more bump, but winding it up means you've got too much rebound and you start lifting a wheel? I also havn't been able to find a manufacturer that will actually state what their adjuster adjusts, makes it intersting when you don't know what you're adjusting. -

Not 100% about this, but isn't the ADR to retain 2/3 of the factory suspension travel? -

I wouldn't have upper mounts, tie rods and tie rod ends very high on your list of priorities. Would also add some upgraded swaybars in there. -
Gotta love DC's bluntness "If he doesn't then I will kick lumps of sh*t out of the little bastard."

2835 ProS (same CHRA Garrett GT3071R) has the same compressor as the GT-RS, only difference is the turbine is slightly bigger, runs a cropped 56.5mm GT30 turbine compared to the 53.8mm GT28 turbine. It will be laggier, but should be good for a heap more power. Simon Michelmore is running a Garrett GT3071R on his RB25 and making 270rwkw... Once again, I wouldn't be going the bigger out of those turbos unless you plan on taking the car to the track. Ric: Just dropped all the engine bits down to the machinist, getting it all machined up now, so car should be driving in 2-3 weeks time I reckon.
