  1. hmm... what's a pivot short shifter worth?
  2. nah, that's not what I'm saying. everyone gets their cars for different reasons. I wanted mine for maybe 10-15% pimp factor and 85-90% because theyre great cars with good handling and great bang for buck. if you take away the turbo, you do take away the bang for buck to an extent. hence if I wanted a car for pure sex appeal i'd probably have a look at some other things. then maybe still go with the line, but who knows.....
  3. sorry to hear niz. I'm thinking about phucking off as soon as I finish this memo. bored as...
  4. cough :cefiro: cough
  5. I can understand why people would want an n-a skyline. theyre nice cars to drive - even without the boost.. but in all honestly if you're trying to keep your insurance down and you want an n-a I 'd look at a bling bling euro. driving experience and pimp factor. there are a surprising number of s/hand beemers and peugots around at hurter cheap prices. if you want a jap import with an n-a engine there are some cool cars around - like the infinitys, cedrics, glorias and celsiors.
  6. nah - soarer turbos use the same engines as the chasers. though with less beefy cams I think. the old 1jz. little brother to the 2jz. later model soarers came in a 2.5L tt, 3L6 n/a and the 4L v8s. now theyre purely v8s I think. but I have seen a twin turboed version of the new one in a video of some tuning shop in japland. forget which one....
  7. just be aware that if your a youngun you may struggle to get insurance for any jap import - turbo or otherwise. for info on insurance or importing, do a quick search. there's shitloads of info out there.
  8. the JGTC supras use a 3.5L V8 TT I think.....but I cant pretend to know much about them. I wonder why>? the 2JZ is THAT good....why not just use that?
  9. huh? soarer turbos are 2.5 litre 6s. there arent a lot of turbocharged v8s around. either from the factory or in aftermarket land. conclude from that what you will...
  10. being back at work suxxors.
  11. eh riaz, was happenin bro? did you get rid of that dash mat yet dude?
  12. evidently, yes. that, my friend, is up to you to decide. do you want it because of the performance increase or because of the ease of piping/fitting or both? bear in mind that you will probably save some money on piping a FMIC if you have a front facing plenum.
  13. I'm not necessarily convinced that these plenums are a good bang for buck upgrade, but I'm always amazed that people say this!? anyone who has ever worked in an engineering environment knows that in design, there are two considerations 1.) is the design fit for purpose 2.) cost the notion that nissan spent years pondering the best way to extract small HP improvements and maximum flow from their plenums is just ridiculous. The factory plenum is designed to be as cheap as possible to manufacture, whilst still performing the job adequately for purpose - i.e. low boost road use applications. it's like saying that they spent a bucketload on r&d for their gts-t intercoolers - because nissan engineers and nissans are good. yet everyone knows that the factory intercoolers have got knobs. the question for me on the plenum is - can you get it at a cheap enough price to justify the opportunity cost against other mods. i.e., if I spent that (up to) $2500 on something else, could I have acheived a better end result? I'd say no, unless you've done a lot already. however, if you start talking about $800 instead of $2500......
  14. so can anyone advise the higher rpms used in Perth's nissans?
  15. dude, what you're after with the fog light (make sure they are lights as most of the cars Ive seen dont actually have the lights - they just look like they do) is a relay. then you should be able to run the lights straight off the battery without loading up the rest of your electrics.
  16. Paul, why is that? I can understand how the benefits/efficiency could reduce, but I'm wondering what is the limiting factor if the turbo is sized so that it doesnt run out of puff?
  17. nah. rear tail lights are legit. Ive seen them on heaps (well ten?) cars. even some on PMS. good luck with the nose job
  18. what's the go with your car? are you getting rebuild work done?
  19. yeah, it's not. but then I've used it a lot more than my car lately anyways...
  20. we bought a fridge. I'm never gonna get that new clutch. yeah, I'm bummed too. would have liked to speak to aidwin.
  21. jason - the rear lights you can actually buy clear. theyre hard to come by but I think theyre actually fairly cheap. if you search for clear tail lights I think you'll find a whole thread devoted to (hating) them.
  22. no whore thread? what were you doing in there to get it deleted? maybe it just needed a clean out.
  23. especially. major bone and ligamentus trauma in the right foot following a basketball mishap about 5 weeks ago. first drive yesterday - and drove to work today, but it's pretty ugly.
  24. I cant pretend to know that much about the RAWS scheme, but I would have thought the workshop doing the compliance wopuld have these. Nonethess, you can borrow my airbox/panel filter.. pm me if you want it... you may want to speak to uneekwahn about the exhaust. he may be able to help.
  25. I picked up the latest edition of speed, in which they alude to the fact that the Top Secret neo GTRs are running 12000rpm redline. I havent got it with me, but the essential gist was that this should be acheiveble on any finely tuned rb26. I take a fair bit of what I read in speed with a grain of salt, but this leads me to thinking... what rev limiters are some of perth/WA's better/more developed nissan engines running? what, apart from a fairly short stroke, does it take to run really high RPM?
