  1. trailer hire would cost you more than tow truck. had my car towed from salisbury north to cavan for 60 squid, and thats more than 4kms
  2. Assembly is around 1500 if you wanted someone to build it for you. If you have a mechanic mate shouldn't bee too much trouble. But like i said, if you just wanna get rid of it, do bearings and fix the crank up, throw a new head gasket in and you're off. If someone was to put the bottom end together for you and you just fit the headgasket and head i dont see it costing more than 2k, maybe 2.5k. Like i said, my rebuild cost me over 5k, machining cost me $450, the rest was parts, see what im getting at
  3. i cant see how new bearings (you'll get main and big end for under 400) and a crank linish/machine, would cost more than 2k. if you wanna get rid of the car thats all id be doing. parts total might be 700 or so, assembly might be a few hundred but if you have a mechanic mate shouldnt be an issue
  4. ???
  5. i just rebuilt my RB25 (same prices, parts and labour as 26) with Arias forgies, genuine main and big end bearings, N1 oil pump, new water pump, nismo thermostat, gates belt, cometic gasket, and custom sump. Had block decked, honed and washed, head faced and acid washed, nad crank linished. It cost me just over 5k, but i put it together myself. It took me a week to do this. By the time the engine gets here from perth you can do a mild rebuild. Pull the motor out one weekend, send crank to get machined/linished, get a set of main and big end bearings, put together following weekend. Drive to work monday, no run in required, $2000 max
  6. yea if ur gonna rebuild you might as well go forgies. i bought a set of Arias just before christmas and they set me back around $1300 from memory

    Respray

no not really, i think he knocked off a couple of hundred but nothing drastic. He's generally good price and ive heard that from many people who just walked in off the street. He'll also do a good price if you pay cash

    Respray

Performance Spray Painting & Crash on stanbel rd, salisbury plains. They just did my HR31, new roof skin, closed doors respray but colour change, some old front damage fixed, welded up holes in boot and where antenna was, rust cut out behind tail light = $5200 (including remove + replace all windows and seals) I used to work there and only ever saw top quality work in that place. The owner, George is a gun spray painter with some of the best blending/colour matching skills ive ever seen. And doesnt charge through the asshole. Has sprayed plenty of old classics and show cars too
  9. hey mate i built my RB25 myself but had the machining done at Advanced engine reconditioners. Good work and realisticly speaking, machining is machining, you're either good at it or you're not, doesnt matter if its a RB26 or a tractor engine. But like i said, they did good work for me. How far you going with the rebuild? standard? forgies? If you really want top quality work speak to Andrew at Autosolutions & Restorations, has built many stomper GTR engines and was a great help to me when i was putting my motor together. Really knows his stuff when it comes to RB's in general

  11. Hey everyone just seeing if there is any interest in my car as i need to sell it due to buying a house. The car has a suspected cracked piston ring (2nd cylinder). Still starts and runs but u can imagine how well. It is still running the NICS red top motor, which was performing very strongly up until the Xmas Drift School. I have dyno sheets to prove the 190rwkw it made safely. I suspect the reason it gave way is cuz it is just old and tired (bear in mind the motor is 20 years old and has 145k on the clock). I have spent thousands of dollars over the last 2 years improving the car and trying to get it to perform and handle the best i can for the limited money i had available. Every single modiffication on the car was performed by me and every single custom part was made by me, so i know exactly what the car has had done to it. Specs: 1987 HR31 Skyline Gts-X The engine is standard, but has a VG30 roller bearing turbo fitted, along with a custom s/s oil catch can. The dump and front pipes are still factory as i never got around to making new ones, but from there the exhaust is 3" straight through s/s, no cat. It has a 600x300x76 ront mount intercooler, with custom s/s piping (2" on turbo side, 2.5" on intake side). Bonnet has secondary catch. The suspension comprises of S13 GAB coilovers up front, with FC RX7 springs and 4 step damper adjustment, camber tops and new spring perches and lock nuts. Lower control arms have been cut and extended for extra track, with tie rod extensions which screw into the standard tie rods. It has S13 SR20 turbo calipers and rotors up front as well. In the rear it has S13 Tein HR coilovers and HICAS has been locked out. It has an R32 (which is the second generation) gearbox and the standard long nose R200 mechanical LSD. I shimmed the diff just before Xmas drift so it has seen about 2 hours of track time. It has been shimmed up to 75-80 foot pounds break away which basically means if you are turning and give any more than about 1/4 throttle it will start scuffing. Being a mechanical diff though it will free wheel with the clutch in so its not inconvenient for daily driving. When u pulle dthe diff apart the clutches were all in good nick with a fair bit of meat still left on them so i assume it hasnt had a very hard life. The interior is stripped except for carpet, dash and door trims. It has a Sparco Sprint race seat which has been retrimmed in black heavy duty cloth about a year ago. There is a Blitz 1.5 bar boost gauge and an auto meter oil pressure gauge which is not connected. It also has a fuel pump kill switch and a fire extinguisher. It has an automatic turbo timer which works out how long the car needs to idle and can be set anywhere from 30sec. to 15mins. There is a custom aluminium gear knob and a Personal steering wheel (the car is pictured with a Nardi but i will sell it with the Personal wheel. All in all the car has been a great performer both in drift and circuit. It handles extremely well with the current setup and could be a very competitive drift/circuit car. The front guards have been hand flared. The roof has a few fairly big dents (which were there when i bought the car). It can either be fixed or a new roof skin put on. I had a roof cut brought over from japan especially by Z Imports and will sell the car with every spare part i have for it. This includes the roof cut i have for it, the whole original interior which is in immaculate condition (i have every single clip and screw that came out of that car). I also have a spare NICS airflow meter, crank angle sensor and cylinder head with intake, injectors, some coil packs and everything else u usually find on an engine. I know the car isnt running as such, but every other aspect of the car mechanically, is excellent. I have spent a lot of time getting it to where it is today but i have no choice but to get rid of it, as much as i hate to see it go. I am asking $9000 for it, and please dont insult me with low ball offers. As some of u will know parts for these cars are really hard to find (especially a roof!!) and i would love to see it go to another R31 enthusiast who will see the value in this car. The price may be negotiable with only seroious offers considered. I really do need to get rid of it but that doesnt mean i will let it go for peanuts. If anyone has any serious interest in this they can contact me on 0410 340 774 and we can go from there. Lastly the car has never been defected and used to be my daily. I have rego papers and number plates for it so im not selling it as purely a track car. It can be registered anytime if someone wants to buy it for a road car. Would prefer local buyer. Price is negotiable to a point if potential buyer is serious!
  12. hey guys i have a full set of KYB Gas-a-just struts for a HR31 for sale. Price is $400 but negotiable cuz they need to go ASAP. They are in excellent condition. The rears will fit S13 but fronts are the same as aussie R31. The reason for sale is that i have done a S13 conversion on the front and am now running S13 coil overs all round. Any enquiries ring me on this number 0410 340 774 cheers Martin
  13. hey i ran 1bar (14.5psi) of boost through a standard RB25 turbo on my RB20 for about a year and a half day in day out, and the car got thrashed and drifted pretty much evryday and the turbo only recently gave up at last drift practice, but didnt go bang, just the seal got farked. But you can run up to 13psi pretty safely on those turbos, any more than that and u do it at ur own risk. might last u over a year like mine or might go bang the next day
