No particular reason for posting this, just sharing my last week as it had its ups and downs. Started off with Monday, but I will begin the story with Thursday, and link Monday back into it. Had basketball out at Carina on Thursday night, and on my way back through the Gabba, noticed a cop behind me, in the lane next to me. He was speeding up the road, but as soon as he saw my car, slowed down and pulled behind me, so I knew I was getting pulled over. Lights come on, and we pull over in the Dan Murphy's car park. Only one cop, gets out with the brethyliser (spelling?) ready. Makes no attempt to use it though, instead does a lap around the car. Notices that I don't have a front number plate and quizes me about it. Now the front number plate missing is the Monday story. I had posted earlier that a van had hit my car, and all this other bullshit about the insurance agency. Finally got the car fixed about a month ago (big thanks to Tuf33 on here. Great work and fantastic price), and on Monday, as my girlfriend was reversing out to go to work, she managed to somehow revers the car straight into the front of my new bumper, cracking it and ripping the number plate off. So I have had three front bumpers in the space of 6 months, with the current one managing to stay whole only for 4 weeks. Now it's got a nice big crack down the front right hand side of it, and no front number plate. So i tell him that story, and then he asks why there is no rego sticker on my car. Told him it had fallen off about a month earlier, and as the rego was due for renewal in about three weeks, didn't bother getting another one. Car was registered. Pulls out his book and tells me that the fine for no number plate is $200, and for the missing rego, $60, and asks for my licence. Silently wishing testicular cancer upon him, I give him my licence. He has a look at it, reads my name, and asks "Are you Yugo by any chance?" meaning if I am Yugoslavian. I answer "Yup", to which he replies "So am I. Don't worry about it." and hands me my licence back. Had a quick chat to him about life back in the mother country, all the while silently taking back my curses, and wishing him a strong sex drive long into his ageing life. Told me to get those things fixed and off he went, so god bless Yugoslavian police men and women, you are the salt of the land. Good people. And then on friday, not much of a story, managed to run a yellow, which turned into a red and got flashed by a camera. My first ticket in the skyline in the year and a half that i have owned it. Bummer. Anyways, just thought i would share that with you.

Heh, I did when I first got it, and my mate kicked my ass for about six fights in a row. I think that was the main force behind spending the rest of the weekend sitting on there, so I am ready for him when he comes back. I don't take losing very well. Probably the reason why I am planning on upgrading the turbo as well.
-
Thank you guys Ended up going with the LCD option, a 47 inch Toshiba, with full 1080dpi, for 3.6k, and also a ps3. Haven't ventured outdoors much over the weekend, but it's worth it, as I have gained the title of heavy weight champion of the world on fight night 3. Now getting some money together to upgrade my turbo, and buy a motorbike. I am sure I will post up another thread asking for advice when I get some cash, which is late next week I think.
-
Depends what mechanic you go to. I doubt most of them would even know if the turbo is standard or not. I honestly don't think you will have trouble getting your car registered here. As mentioned above, all you need to get is a $57 certificate saying your car is roadworthy. For this they mainly check for tyres, brakes, lights and hazards, oil leaks and other minor things. Turbo, computer etc won't even get looked at. The guy that gave me my road worthy thought that some r33 gtst's came with standard front mount intercoolers. And he is the owner of a decent tuning shop in brisbane with some very nice cars in it. All the best, and if you do run into trouble, I know a few people that can give you a roadworthy, providing of course that your car is in decent nick, not a pig.
-
Finally did my tax and am getting 3.8k back, so was hoping to upgrade the TV at home. Annoying thing is, I don't really know much about Plasmas or LCD's, and the advantages of either one. So I would really appreciate if somebody could point out the advantages of either one, or even better, point me to a store that has decent prices, or even recommend a specific brand and model. Was hoping to spend under 3k for one, and get decent resolution out of the ps3 (that's getting purchased for the remaining .8k) Cheers Miso

For Sale Performance Parts For Skyline
PWND replied to burnout.101's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
pm sent, but gotta be careful handing any cash over before seeing the merchandise to somebody with only one post.... -
I could be getting rid of mine. Just gotta find a set of side skirts that i want to fit instead. They are silver, but will let you know in the next week if you are still looking and interested.
-
i would have heard the siren. i had a quick glance, but was mainly keeping my eyes on the front of the road because that's where i was expecting traffic to come from. i do the same when for an example turning left onto a street, i look right for traffic. i give left a glance, do a thorough check of right and go..... the cops say it is clearly his fault, but i have had fun with insurance companies before, so we shall see.
-
i didn't look behind me. just didn't think to look as i wasn't expecting a car to be overtaking all the cars in the traffic jam and on the wrong side of the road......
-
yeh, hopefully will work out. chatted to the insurance today, and they said to fax them in the quote, as well as my version of how it all happened. so gotta carefully compose the event and word it correctly so i don't get caught out on some technicality. the smash repairer that did the quote had no trouble finding the headlights. first phonecall for used ones, listed at $330 a piece on my quote. i think. quote is at home and i am at work now. can let you know when i get back home on saturday how much it is and where you can find some. hoping to get the pay out and get a gtr front bar instead. anyways, it's all moving forward slowly, so hopefully should be on the right track early next week.
-
Couple of pics after the crash. Got a quote today, at $4500 to fix it, without replacing the bonet. repairing it instead. Need both new headlights, grille, front bumper, reo, fr guard. may have to get a new intercooler as well. grille was wedged in front of it, but can't see if there is any damage without removing the front bar. not leaking though.
-
we pulled into a side street, and no farker came out. was too busy checking out the damage on my car to look for a witness. slipped my mind. wasn't exactly rational. i thought i was doing well by keeping myself from choking him. chatting to the insurance again tomorrow, so may have to get a police report. getting quotes for the damage repair tomorrow so once i know how much it will cost to fix the cops may have to get involved if it is over 5k
-
police said that for the ammount of damage done to the car they usually don't fill out a report, but gave me his details and said he would speak with insurance or anybody else if needed. He was cutting across traffic as he wanted to take a right turn approximately 15m in front of me. 4 or so cars ahead. No witnesses
-
broken line, so allowed to overtake, and to do u turn. talking to the cop though, he said that it is not safe to overtake when traffic is stationary though, whereas i am allowed to do a u turn.
-
i am hoping it will be just him at fault, as i got a fair few bent pannels on the car. went down to the police station, and was told that he would be clearly at fault, as long as the incident happened as i told it. so we shall have to wait and see. messes up my week though. so pissed off.
-
not sure if the picture is really clear, as i don't really draw on computer much traffic jam, so cars were not moving at all. literally. for about 5 minutes. so i then decided to do a u turn (hence my gay blinker drawn on), as i turned, he was in the wrong lane, going down the road, and he hit me. didn't see him, and didn't think to check behind me as i didn't expect anybody to be driving on that side. at least in that direction..
-
only have fire and theft. have been driving for 9 years without incident, so didn't get it, plus i am cheap.... well, i suppose that will teach me. i just don't see how he will be able to explain what he was doing in a light that will make him seem not at fault. he was going the wrong way down the road, overtaking stationary cars. had a chat to the police, and they told me that (if the even happened as i told it) he is clearly at fault. I have damage to the front right corner, and he has it to the right middle of his van. it happened on a single lane road (one lane each way), so i can't see how he would be able to explain how i ran into the right side of him without saying he was going the wrong way down the road.
-
Fantastic start to the day this morning. On my way to work from taringa, got stuck in a traffic jam. After 10 minutes of not moving, and no oncoming traffic, decided to do a U turn, only to get smashed into by a van going the wrong way in the opposite lane. Farken fantastic. And on top of that, the guy reckons it's not his fault as he had the right of way and i turned into him. So, now due to not having comprehensive insurance, i have a possible shitfight on my hands and may have to sue. I am hoping his insurance company will see the light of day and i wont have to sue them, as there is no possible way he can describe the accident in a light where he is not at fault. Biggest pain in the ass is, i don't know when the hell i will get my car back. Might post up some pics tomorrow when it's light. Front right guard is gone, bonet has a kink in the corner, front bumper is nearly ripped off, my right headlight has replaced the grile's spot in the centre of the car. FMIC has copped a couple of dents as well. All in all, he did a great job of keeping me off the road. Luckily the cooler wasn't punctured, so was able to limp the car home, with the front guard scraping the wheel. Can anybody recommend a decent workshop in the Toowoong area? Was thinking of asking them to order a gtr front bumper instead of my standard series two one. Depending on the company, they may do it. Hopefully they will order the right front mount, as i have one that uses the standard piping.... all in all, farken pissed off.
