  1. Crankshaft Engineering. They can machine, nitride and either build up your existing oil drive, or fit the collar. Their work is excellent.
  2. VLT ( MX7 ) is identical in appearence to RB25DET box - internals are nearly identical also but different syncros and the like I believe. Nothing like NA RB25, NA RB30 or even RB20 turbo in appearence
  3. They are still about 100 grams lighter than std rods. You dont have a problem, its quite normal really :-) Thats why I want 3.4 litres
  4. Paul, I can get CA cranks, changing the stroke shouldnt be too much of an issue. Cheers
  5. Line up is Eagle RB26, Spool RB26, Scat 2 JZ. Differences are quite obvious when in comparison like this - not as easy when stand alone.
  6. Yes that is the plan - any crank is possible, just getting the drawings done is a mission though. Give me a call sometime to discuss if you like. 0402 351 688 Cheers
  7. Thanks Paul, Im happy you like them. I will post up some pics soon of the differences between SPOOL rods and Scat rods. Cheers
  8. Scat are made in China, it is common knowledge now. The price alone reflects where they are made. Whether Spool or Scat are made in Taiwan , China , India , USA or Aus etc is really irrelevant. As the steel in SPOOL rods is 4340 ( had it tested several times ) the tolerances are perfect, the rod bolts are ARP and the quality is exceptional. There are plenty of cars making power with SPOOL rods ( and the like ) and there are numerous workshops who recommend them ( talk to Mercury Motorsport, Proengines, Harris Engines, 6Boost etc ). Fitzpatrick Speedworks has a RB25 making 460 rwkw with those same SPOOL RB25 rods you have.
  9. No they are made in Taiwan. Scat, Eagle, Brian Crower etc are made in China.
  10. When I bring the rods in they do not come with bolts. So I have to source the bolts here in Aus. I was buying bolts from Rocket for a while but they kept running out of the std ARP bolts and would supply me with the ARP 2000 bolts with SCAT on them - like you have there. I now buy my bolts from Quantum here in Bris as they get them in from the US for me in quantity. You can talk to Ryan at Rocket or Jason at Quantum to confirm. All my rods now have ARP 2000 bolts with no SCAT on them. Cheers
  11. Hi Paul - Just to clarify. Spool rods arent made by Scat or by the company that makes Scat rods or Eagle rods. Not being picky - I just want that clarification made.
  12. lol.. oh it all makes sense now. Yes it was your car I saw.
  13. I think I saw your R31 - its a tidy unit, if its yours.
  14. Baz - well u know my story. The old infamous too much oil in the head. I need to put a drain in the back of the head to the sump, and I might go a bit smaller in my restrictors as well. Good excuse to get the engine out and HPC coat everything. But Im hooked now - will be out again as soon as I fix. That Silver R33 GTR did a 10.99 while I was there
  15. I use a 6boost http://www.spoolimports.com/content/SpoolImportsR33.asp
  16. Baz - sms me to remind me to bring the rods :-) Ill have my toyo R888's on @ 16 psi - the engines @ 23 :-)
  17. So there is no drama boring the RB20 out for 78mm to 81 or 82mm ? Cheers
  18. I knew you would be lurking around here somewhere with the answer.
  19. Thanks I was referring that Tomei make off the shelf pistons for the RB20 with RB26 crank and rods - and they are 2k. I would not be using 4age OEM pistons, as Wiseco make both NA ( 4age ) and Turbo/Supercharged ( 4a-gze ) forged pistons. I am totally aware it is a waste of money and effect but I have a customer dead set on the idea - and the customer is always right :-)
  20. yes it does - but still want to hear from someone who has done it. As the combustion chamber size on the 4 age and RB20 may well vary considerably and the NA 4age might be the go. Im sure someone will answer the question eventually
  21. Does anyone here frequent the shopping centre at Acacia Ridge ( cnr Elizabeth St and Beaudesert Rd ) on Friday nights. There are an easy 50 - 100 cars there each Friday night, but mostly old school. I dont see many Skylines etc ?
  22. Ill be there this time dude. Ill race ya :-) Just hope I dont break some drive train components :-)
  23. Looking for a ER33, 4 door, 4wd manual ( has to be manual ) any engine configuration considered ( 2 litre, 2.5 litre, non turbo, turbo - no engine I dont care ) Body and interior need to be in good condition - thats about it. email [email protected]
  24. Looking for details ( from someone who knows ) on what pistons to use when building an RB20 with RB26 crank and rods. I believe the 4age piston is used ( but which one, turbo, NA ? ). Tomei make pistons for this setup but at around 2k a set its a little pricey Any help appreciated ?
