What Tyre Pressures For Federal Semi Slicks
ellie replied to Shaun's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Also very dependant on what tyre size/aspect ratio you have but 36 cold should be more than adequate for the street. -

Well looks like everyone is just as divided as me! This was the bronze I'm leaning towards. . . . -
Thanks SNISMO. top effort.

+1 for pushing the date forward. Great day but as in most of the posts, the sun ruled the day. I would have liked to have met a few more people and looked at a few cars but felt so smashed by the heat the majority of my time was spent in the shade replenishing the fluids. Colder is better in every way. Car loves it, people love it = more mingling and viewing of cars. I know you cannot control the weather and you put together a great event but earlier and cooler would give everyone more of a chance to enjoy the good work you have done. And, I bet you could expect a sizable increase in hardware with cooler weather. Thanks for your efforts on an enjoyable day.

May I politely suggest that the next cruise be organised for earlier in the year? Every year this is on it is stinking hot and crap weather to drive in let alone have your bake bake in to get back in it to drive home. Just a suggestion - I know it is qld etc but there are plenty of sunny warm days in winter where it would be much more comfortable for people and cars alike. ###MUST REITERATE### Great job organising the cruise etc. Always great. just not as much fun with heat stroke

What Colour Should I Change My Wheels To?
ellie replied to ellie's topic in Exterior & Interior Styling
I like the stockies black also Thats why i got them professionally sprayed as a daily kick around rim by a mate so I wouldn't be disappointed. We think on the same level. Volk bronze and Work gun = . as long as you buy the real deal and not imitations White was one of the factors that caused me to buy these rims! They are the original Nto3's (without multistud and centre hub webbing), Super light at only 8.2kg and these ones were imported from japan by a friend of mine to run targa. The reason he imported them is because Enkei has never sold these in white here + the obvious weight and quality of the rim. But after 3-4 years in my hands they are starting to look dull and i've had it up to the moon with having to clean such an intricate wheel in white Thank you for your opinions and everyone is more than welcome to add their comments/vote but I am 100% solid that black is never going to happen! It is no MCR touge monster! -
What Colour Should I Change My Wheels To?
ellie replied to ellie's topic in Exterior & Interior Styling
Already got that as my everyday set. . . . And the rims I want to change are rare original Nto3's that were imported a while back which have an intricate design of the interwebing between spokes. Any wheel that has any form of interesting detail seems to get dulled/blended away into the rest of the rim if it is a dark colour, IMO. -
Here's a couple of mine. Has anyone got some photos of bronze of gun metal wheel on a red 32?

Let me start by saying the whiteline for all the hype about "how good we are", have very poor fitment! Just like 90% of the so called "bolt on" items (Name brand or not) that I have had to fix up or completely modify to fit/work properly. The whole import industry appears to have no form of regulation so the "I can make it cheaper than you" brigade continue to make ever cheaper/crap parts which forces good quality companies (hks, apexi etc) to bridge the gap and cheapen their parts. So, everyone loses because the cars we enjoy seem to have grown the stereo type of cheap performance! which tends to attract cheap skates who expect everything for nothing. Most of which wouldn't now the difference if you showed them 2 items from different ends of the quality stick and would probably follow closely with the question of which one is cheaper? I've gotten sick of the long list of disappointing (reputable) parts and now fabricate as much as possible myself. Sorry. . . .End of rant Back to whiteline - I don't think adjustable endlinks will fix the issue because that will only cahange the angle of the swaybar (if you get what I mean) which may give you some relief but I suspect not. My rear sway bar has a rediculous amount of clearance for where the exhaust goes through (which I made to tuck as high to the chassis as possible). So much so when I checked under my car just the other day, i found that it has almost completely worn through my protective guides for the handbrake cable. Not happy Jane. I think a slightly more effective solution is going tho be spaceing the swaybar bushes down with some alloy block effectively lowering the entire swaybar. That said, adjustable end links may be necessary to achieve the ideal horizontal plane for the swaybar. If you are going to be pedantic about it, you could get the K-mac sway bars that has an adjustable length link and has a slide adjustment on the bar and supension arm of approx. 120mm to keep the end link perfectly vertical for correct swaybar response. Just some suggestions, hope it helps

I've got a great set of wheels I love but I'm also pedantic and have some gutter scrape on 1 rim and a few stone chips on the others. So with new tyres to be fitted I was thinking that I might change the colour of my rims? Anyone who has owned white rims knows my pain! I originally thought of a gun metal but I'm now leaning towards a bronze metalic (probably the same shade as the drift tek range). So. . .What do you reckon and can people please post up picture of red 32's with bronze/gold or gunmetal rims? Here is a couple of shots of my car 1. with my white rims and 2. with mine on the front and a pair of bonze works on the back (to darker bronze IMO)

Tyres you use(d) and how u would rate them
ellie replied to ZigenGT's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Cheers, It's good to see some back to back impressions from a well known driver so there can be no arguement on the validity of the persons ratings. Although I do remain cautious, because I'm sure it is like all media = biased. I don't know if you'd remember but I met you also on the same day that I met Harry at a Mt. cotton hill climb back when I was a very green apprentice. P.S. I bought my KU36's and will give an impression when I get them on my rims but they are being reco'd at present. -

How To Get Rid Of Hard Water Marks From Windows
ellie replied to Kujotk's topic in Exterior & Interior Styling
Bingo. I had water marks on every window of my car for years and a detailer friend of mine said to buff the glass. Now please read my whole post! Apparently glass has a nasty habit of cracking if it is unevenly heated (buffing in one spot for to long!). You have to use a rotary buff and a fairly coarse compound like G10. Make like you are buffing a badly scratched panel = put a few dabs of compound on, liberal amounts of water where you are buffing and buff in the normal sweep motion not sitting in one spot. EASY! Give it a real good wash to get rid of excess sediment and use normal window cleaner for final finish. The main reason for me doing this - My raer window was so bad, when headlights would hit the acid affected glass, I could't see at all. Looks was a very welcome bonus! -
That is a valid point you make! They would make the system with Tom,Dick and Harry in mind. And I am actually about to replace mine mainly because of the whole new world that braided brake lines opened up to me. It was a major improvement and I can only imagine the clutch should have similar improvement with engaugement feedback.

Can't help but wonder why the factory saw fit to have it there in the first place. I think there is sound logic to upgrading things but the engineers that designed such a fantastic car with great longevity are no idiots. Has anyone actually pulled the cooler distribution box apart before? The pipe which the factory use is relatively easy to work also, so, maybe the block can be taken out and replaced with a short finned section like on the P/S cooler on GTRs? Obviously replacing the short rubber hose with braided. Just food for thought anyways. . . .

Just out of curiousity and under no obligation. . . What do you do for a coin that you can afford such a lifestyle? I only ask from a little place i live sometimes called "jealousy". Can I add that this thread is a great testament to you and also your character! The mind boggles at the amount of hours you would have put into this thread Simply fantastic (removes lips from ass) :laughing-smiley-014:

I don't mean to sound rude, but no one will be replying to this thread because it is completely useless! You're only talking about a matter of 60kg. I work for a manufacturer that updates each model constantly and has a face lift half way through a particular models run (new model every 7years so facelift usually after 4 years to improve the car and boost sales again). This is not a new concept and I'm struggling to understand why you cannot grasp it. A control unit can be superseeded up to 6 times in only one year. each time the supplier, casing, hardware, software (weight) can change with each item. Your answer is simple but very long and boring = different composition of plastics, more sound deadening, different wiring looms, chassis strengthening down to the grade of metal used to make the car itself. All these thing could easily make up 60kg. Why do you care anyway? If you're going to put an RB30 in anyway, even a mildly warmed over example is going to pull a 32 along with ease. +there are many roads to travel to lighten a car if that is what you are concerned about. (As said above) 48 + 62 = 110 and there is no way on earth that a silvia has a wieght distribution biased towards the rear! A S8 RX7 is one of the best weight distibuted cars to come from japan at 51/49%. why do you think all the serious time attack cars have the engine lowered and moved back towards the fire wall in a silvia? Let alone a skyline, which is heavily front weight biased due to cast blocks etc. If you are trying to figure out which model to buy for your build than do some research on something a bit more poignant like which one will the RB30 slip into easier? With out ever looking into that myself, I would imagine a 1993 version that has or had an rb25de in it so all you need to do is swap the bottom end, fit the turbo gear and remap the standard ecu. Obviously it won't be that straight forward but it will go a long way to making things a lot easier. Rant over

Good R32 Gtst Short Shifters
ellie replied to jakez88's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Vinnie = a GTR gearstick connot be swapped into a GTS-T. You have a GTS-4. exactly the same driveline as a GTR so it fit. Jakez88. I bought a C's short shifter for $250 brand new delivered from a trader on this forum (can't remember which one). I'm a mechanic and I rate this as a great buy for someone that really enjoys driving their car (not just being seen in it). It has the rubber insulation between the top and bottom shafts so there is no heat or noise/vibration transfer to the cabin. It gives a much more positive gear engagement and shift compared to the standard gearstick. And the old wives tale of short shifters destroying gearboxes is like a gun, It doesn't kill someone, It's the person weilding it. In short, It won't give you a performance upgrade at all but it is a fantastic driving experience upgrade. I've actually forgotten I have one until I drive someone elses and remember how nice my car is to drive.
