  1. I have the std unit now so once I pin it out his one will work.
  2. yep bad earth or loss of power. ( the yellow wire that runs with the cable.) loss of power usually is the culprit.
  3. red/blu behind the radio. it should have +12v on it when you put the lights on. use this wire to do it. orange wire on the JVC unit should connect to it.
  4. oem harness is the one that is in the car already
  5. that car doesnt have a factory harness listed because it doesn't need one.. wiring is: speakers ( these are on 4 pin plugs): gry set - rt rear green set - lt rear orange set - rt frt red set - lt frt theres a 3 pin plug that has power and lights on it. wht/blk - +12v wht - +12 via key. red/yel - lights if the car doesnt have rear speakers the cables are located behind the panel that covers the boot latch. that should get you started.
  6. fm FREQUENCY converter. FM modulator will send the sales person to cd stackers.
  7. if you are removing the original radio then you will not need the frequecy converter . you will need the antenna adapter though.(AP348a) whist you are at it get the later model nissan plug from there as well and use that to plug onto the factory plugs.
  8. nope. the GPS is only good for japan. the unit itself you could get the radio to work with a freq converter but that would be it. best to pull the whole lot out and start fresh.
  9. which is essentially what I'm doing with the OEM item. they want $60 + for their one.
  10. the above is correct. unplug the amp ( circular box under the rear shelf) as its useless.
  11. post a pic of the plugs up and I'll help you. there are 3 different style plugs for nissan. sounds like you have the 2nd variant. also what stereo did you pull out of it ( is it a nissan clarion unit?- pic if not sure.)
  12. or my shop www.soundoff.net.au pay for it and I'll ship it out.
  13. nice ! who did the work?
  14. pm me (or email ) and I'll send you my contact details. need both units. as I need to poke and prod them
  15. power wise I would suggest a battery to avoid the engine noise issue. yes it can be done as the cd unit puts out a .5 - 1 v signal to the main unit. the headphone jack will serve as a 'gain' control of sorts. FM docking station to RCA. done it. works ok but is a pain in the ass to get right. best to make a cable. show me a pic of the front of the radio and I'll see if I can find one up here.
  16. use the headphone out on the ipod run that to a 5 pin plug . there is a control lead that will have to go to +5v to make the main unit switch over . if you have a multimeter and a bit of time you cna sort it easily. only issue you will have is engine noise. If I had one of the units I would pin it out for you.
  17. 45wx4 CD changer controls 4 preouts (2v output) remote control option ( or steering wheel interface.) detachable face 1 year warranty. Plays CDR/CDRW $200 plus shipping ( free delivery in brissy.)
  18. best to listen to them with the music you listen to. that way you know what you are getting before you buy them. my 2 c.
  19. sounds like harness damage to me. if you are in brissy I'll help you out. ( click my sig.)
  20. hippy has the right idea. most people put them high for ease of installation.
  21. go to super cheap or the like and get a nissan adapting plug . match colour for coulour and you're done.
  22. if you have the original front plates that have the 4x6" in them just copy them onto a bit of 5/8" ( 16mm) MDF and put a 6" hole in it. I'd do them if you were in brisbane.
  23. depends on who complied it. most of the ones I work on have a seriously botched item literally thrown in. if its the factory item then you have killed a fuse. those things arent that easy to kill..
  24. still waiting for an alternative mounting from aeropro. was talking to the local rep and he's says if theres enough interest then they will make one... ( I already get 5-6 called a week on VY commys.. same problem easier solution.)
  25. yep a lot of the kids I trained there had no idea. most still don't... CAA is a good starting point. a better one is asking a lot of questions and trying yourself.
