  1. as above.. ( also note the PM as well. I didnt see this thread until after I replied.)
  2. fun car to work on. (BA) did one today with TV interface and a decent stereo as well. this one had the premium system on it and I still have a bit of a probelm with engine noise on it . this is using the stinger line out units. if you are playing with the unit ( IE pulling it out) have the keys handy. still waiting for someone to throw a 34 GTR at me...
  3. nah . you have killed 3 fuses. there is one in the back for tail lights the interior light one is in the panel above your right foot. if you go out and buy an adapting plug for $20 it will save you the headache of the above and also another $80 or so that strathfield or the like will charge you to fix it. ( I charge $85 to fit one..)
  4. what he said. both of those brands work great for a month or so and then spit the dummy for no reason. if you want to piss off $300 on one sendthe money my way. I'll set up up with an amp you can't kill that easily ..
  5. thats correct. its a defectable item if those are missing. ( I know of a few major car audio shops that do this as well..) best way is a set of decent 6" speakers.
  6. 6"can be done if you have a bit of 16mm MDF wood handy. remove the original one on its plate duplicate the plate shape with wood and cut a 6" hole into it.
  7. send me a picture of the units back end. nissan have two variants of plugs. I have both on hand. the car description isnt enough.
  8. not sure. best to get the yellows out.
  9. wouldnt know till I got it apart. I will tell you that the output stage is over $70 for the IC. figure a bit of time to replace that and test it. wouldnt see change from $200 I wouldn't think. this is a guesstimate though. could be much less.
  10. 6.5 "actually. if you buy the clarion items they will have the adapting plate to fit them to a nissan or the like. front and rear are the same size I second paulr33 unless you are going to the effort of rebuilding the rear shelf dont bother.
  11. gotta love these do it all types..... ( I do the same thing!)
  12. as marty said. its junk. theres a place on Ebay thats selling it. think Boss audio and drop back a few notches..
  13. there would be a place in rockhampton that would fix it. what unit is it? ( I could probably fix it.)
  14. yes you do. that wire runs a small antenna amplifier. if you switch to AM you will notice that it doesnt work. FM around the city will be fine but outside of it FM will be patchy. connecting it up ( blue wire on most radio) to the ant control will solve this problem.
  15. agreed.
  16. $70 sounds extremely steep just for somebody to run a cable through.. However if you want it done perfectly without damage, get a pro to do it, if they damage anything get them to repair/ pay for the damage. __________________ thats about what I charge for a 2 channel amp EXLCUDING the power kit. $130 with wiring included is the norm I do this everyday and never had a probelm with panels ( on r31,32,33,34) not going back on right. if you are in doubt get it done professionally. it will save you the cost of broken panels and trashed harnesses ( if you pinch one when you put the seatbelts back in!) and everyone of us in the business has insurance to cover a f'up IF we make one. cabling under a car isn't a good idea. RCA cables arent made for outdoors and wont last anymore than 6 months tops. powercable is a similar thing unless its double jacketed.
  17. from me. www.soundoff.net.au I'll deliver it if you like.
  18. agreed! I have done those speakers in the rear of a 33. it involved a new parcel shelf AND removing a FAIR BIT of metal to make them fit. put a decent set of 6.5"speakers in there and leave it. to get the shelf out you need to remove the rear seat. the instructions above are correct. with it out the shelf unclips and pulls forward. remove any restraint bolts that may be in the way. any questions email me.
  19. marc, gary if its still open I'll pop by for the day with my van and do a bit of stereo judging. I'm all for it.
  20. diversity antenna ius in the front screen the main antenna is in the rear.
  21. sounds like it wasnt put in properly. if it was then the thief wouldnt have found it. if I can find an alarm in 30 seconds then so can a thief. sirens are a similar thing.
  22. an alarm would be first on my list.
  23. agreed! Blaupunkt make a few good ones too. budget: Monte Carlo MP34 - mp3 player - $330. Quality- Heidlberg CD52 - $500. power GTA450 splits: Velocity or The GT series. subs : again Velocity or GT series.
