use meguiars paint cleaner if u want to take off very very light scratch or marks from the paint. or stains, swirls etc. paint cleaner is good stuff. else use meguiars scratch X, i haven't had the need to use that, but i heard it works pretty well. like a lite cut n polish. i wouldn't use any of this stuff too often. i only use paint cleaner like once every few months.

red900ss, u can get the hks foam type panel filter, its got the green type foam. around $80. i bought a blitz panel filter, similar to the cotton k&n ones, except its blue hehe. and u can also get the k&n panel filter replacements, buy the one which fits the VL commodore. fits straight in. roughly $100. not worth that price though, so try source one from somewhere else.

hey i watched this on optus sports, didnt' realise what it was but the race i watched was some 2hr endurance showroom showdown. had rx7's, evo's, s15's etc. rx7 lead for a while but had problems halfway and the s15 took the lead, looked like it was gonna win and in the last 5mins sounded like it was running on 3 cylinders and got taken by the evo 6 and evo 7 and came 3rd. had an sti competing as well, he was doing pretty well too, i think they said he had no 3rd gear!

i removed the back mesh part, dun really notice any difference. doesn't seem to have done any harm either.

greg are u paying $4700 for insurance? i got quoted $2,500 and i thought that was expensive. i have no rating either. suncorp won't insure u for comprehensive if u don't have a rating and ur too young. but they will do 3rd party. only costs around $200 from their online quote. neoGT have u put in a CAI and heatshield for the pod? that makes a bit of difference. get 2nd hand extractors, i think they're around $300. get a hiflow cat and new exhaust and dats it. i hear people talk about advancing the timing, i'm not too sure how to do this on the skyline. do i still use the timing gun?? boxhead, i'm in the wrong industry atm, IT jobs are pretty scarce and its very competitive. so i might have to do some factory or something else in the mean time.

neoGT, in my opinion there would be minimal power difference between this 2,500 dollar system and a custom made one locally. spending 2,500 on a na system is just not worth it. u can get a 2.5" hi flow cat followed by a 2.5" exhaust for $500. save the other 2000 and spend that on a turbo upgrade, then u will see big gains. either that or buy a 2nd hand hks catback for roughly 500.

thanks for the reply. just when i thought i had that exhaust at the right noise level. i'll get off my ass and take a look under to see if theres anything obvious. so its got nothing to do with the pod i guess then. was hoping it'd be something easy like that. sure hope its not the muffler.

yer i remember someone saying that they used contact cleaner and not carby cleaner. and i think they only sprayed it on the plug leads and not actually inside the afm.

brake fluid?? i dunno about putting brake fluid through ur afm. i don't think thats a good idea.

how do u guys take the mesh part of the afm off? just rip it out? also, i reset the ecu lastnite, went for a long cruise. i don't think it does anything either. or perhaps my car is running ok so i don't notice any difference.

hey guys, i just put on a new cheapie pod filter yesterday, and now my exhaust is loud again all of a sudden?? do u fink its related with the intake? the only other fing i can think that could cause a noise is maybe a leak in the exhuast?? dunno, how that would happen as i haven't gone over any bumps or anything recently. my car was nice and relatively quiet after i fixed the exhaust, i didn't drive it for a couple of days, and then yesterday i put a pod on, and now the exhaust is definitely louder than usual, i can hear a bit of the old drone noise i use to get. any ideas?? i was thinking maybe somehow more air is getting in and it somehow effects it.. i dunno, i'm lazy to put the stock box back on to see any opinions?

took apart the airbox and afm today, only to find that i couldn't find the bloody carby cleaner in the garage!!! gotta go buy a can from super cheaps. wacked a pod filter back on instead of the air box. its a cheapo one, i fink theres a huge difference between brand ones and the cheap ones. my k&n use to give a huge induction noise. can't hear crap from this cheapy one. between the big names, there not much difference in performance, compared to the no names there is. sorry, its a bit off topic.

i agree with u akeenan. plus i like to wash the car myself and give it a thorough job. those places where u pay em like $10 to hand car wash they just do a rough job. just a quick soap and then chamois dry. i can do that all myself. got a collection of polish and waxes.

i haven't washed my car since the restrictions!! shes all covered in dirt from dirty rain water still. i use to wash every week and give is a polish every few months. i plan to use the gun and wash the car today. although i reckon my neighbours will still try dob me in for wasting water even though i'm going to use the gun.

for u bargain hunters out there, autobarn and super cheap auto are having a sale, i love looking through the catalogues u can pick up a cheapie pod filter at autobarn for $25, i reckon thats a bargain! i had a k&n pod and sold it a while back, for 25 i mite try out this cheapie one and see if theres any difference. their stainless steel 3ARacing mufflers are cheap too. $189 for 3" and 2.5" ones. then i'm gonna pop down to super cheap and pick up some castrol magenetic engine oil, gonna stock up on it. $21. pretty decent stuff.

haha, i had trouble taking that plug off last time and just gave up. how did u do it in the end?? someone mentioned spraying wd40 on it, im a bit worried doing that may bugger the contacts. is it hard to take the mesh out? im going to try this out tomorrow after my final uni exam. also, off topic, how did u change the fuel filter? last time i tried unsuccessfully, couldn't get the hoses off, they were sucked on so tite wasted an hr or so and still couldn't so gave up

$14,500 with good wheels and the old wheels is a bit too low an offer. put it in the trading post, u mite get more luck there. be a bit patient if u can. it takes a while to sell.
