haha, thats rite, u got the big ass exhaust on the na car as well. does ur one only drone around 2000-3000 rpm wen u drive at a constant speed? eg. going 60k's in 4th gear, or 100k's in 5th gear, but if i held 4th gear and went at 100k's in 4th then its not too bad. i'm actually planning on putting the stock muffler back on! yup, after all that money and heart ache, i'm planning on doing that. only problem is that it won't fit straight on so i think they mite have to redo some of the piping at the back which will cost more money! money which i don't have atm
-
just thought that i'd share with all u n/a boys n gals who are planning on putting an exhaust on. go with 2 & 1/4" piping and a straight thru muffler. yes, it does sound small but believe me, i have put a 2.5" exhaust on and the f*cker drones, partly due to the straight thru muffler, but i also notice a drop in bottom end performance. all up i've wasted over 500bux with the exhaust and i'm not happy with it. lesson learnt there, save up the money and use it to get a turbo!
-
i agree with riggaP, if ur that worried about it then buy a different car, i've really never heard of anyone getting in trouble for driving a car too powerful on their P's.
-
i think im gonna ask the local council. cbf driving to monash. gotta do it soon though coz with 3 cars in the house its starting to pile up.
-
awww damn, inark, i always believed in the turtle story, now i've lost all hope
-
hahah, yep, sorry to confuse u. my car is non-turbo so its a turtle.
-
damn, some people have all the luck! u must have good bargaining skills. in the mean time i still have my lil turtle which im going to put in the trading post soon.
-
wtf??? i don't understand, u got a R32 GTS-T for $5,500? so do u just have to register it and thats it? what a bargain. did u find it in the trading post?

crazy mate, ur the first guy on this forum who i've heard that that they're not insured, i'm with you!!! i'm also uninsured at the time that i bought my car i didn't have enough funds to pay$2500 to just cars. then if something does happen u have to pay them the excess and then under age excess and import vehicle excess and crap so i decided it wasn't worth it. i really should hop onto 3rd party but i'm planning on selling soon so thats not worth it now either.

just wondering, where does everyone dump their used engine oil? i've got like close heaps of old cartons of used engine oil after i've done an oil change. do people chuck this into their normal bins or is their a place to take it to to dump?
-
WTF???? i thought they give u a 3k slack. only 2 k's over? shouldn't have got a fine for that one, he should write and letter and complain.
-
i took the car to performance exhausts to get the resonator put in. i don't think they do that many exhausts for skylines. rs73, sorry i don't want to do a straight swap for a stock exhaust. check ur pm.
-
hey funkymonkey, its real easy, i just did it yesterday and i'm really no mechanic and not good at that sort of stuff, so anyone can do it. go out and buy some engine oil, (best if u buy it on sale from k-mart or supercheapauto or something like that, u save quite a few bucks) buy the oil filter from autobarn z145a $10. then let the car cool down a bit and just jack her up and drain the oil and pour the new one in. mite want to let the car down again wen ur draining the oil so that more of it comes out. check ur oil, its prolly quite black by now if u haven't changed it in a while. all up cost about $30. cost me around $20 for mobil S (semi synthetic, on sale from k-mart ) and $10 for ryco oil filter.
-
funkymonkey, u should just do the oil change urself. doesn't take long at all and will save u a shiat load of money. buy some decent oil and change it urself every 5000 or so k's. and then wen its due for the major service take it somewhere. else some places charge like $75 just for oil change and inspection. not worth it.

sorry click here

guys if u want more info on this take a look at this thread from SDU: http://forums.skylinesdownunder.co.nz/show...+mobil+AND+test

i've never heard of anyone getting into trouble for driving a car too powerful for them on their P's. theres hundreds of P platers driving wrx's, skylines etc. if u can afford the car then buy it, at most wack it under ur dads name to get it registered or something.

hey rs73, i've been to about 5 different exhaust places in the past few weeks to fix up my exhaust coz its too big for my car. it came from a turbo r33 and i bolted it onto mine so i've been going around to different places asking for opinions. the place raist60 mentioned seems the most decent, price is good and the guy knows what hes talking about. but, i've heard a lot of good things about Dandy Exhaust in dandenong, thats where i've booked my car in to get the resonator changed, they were the only place to actually give me a rough price as well. btw u can buy my exhaust off me! its practically new!
-
yep, i got busted going 64 in a 60 zone in ringwood. heatherdale rd i think. costs bloody $125, and u better pay it on time as well coz the bastards get some agency to chase u up and u have to pay their fee.
-
i've never heard a turbo skyline drone. only in the NA's, like mine hehe. i've got a 2.5" piping from catback and it drones. i'll sell u mine for cheap if u want most ppl go for the 3" turbo back setup.
-
yep, i'm thinking about getting rid of the muffler, thats what the guy kept telling me the problem is. he said, we could change the resonator, but "its like chopping ur leg off wen u have a headace", its not going to fix the problem. but really, i'd prefer not to change it and just put in a chambered resonator as suggested by ppl here. plus i don't have money to do that. i think maybe he was trying to get more money outta me by making me change the full exhaust hehe.
-
ok, just came back from exhaust place. they weren't very helpful kept telling me to take this exhaust off and they'll make a custom one for me. man, i can't afford that, then i just wasted all my money on this exhaust. sheesh. gonna wait till monday now, and goto Dandy exhaust, heard they were pretty decent. btw, if anyone wants to swap their current muffler for a bigger size one then let me know. so any turbo guys out there with a 2.5" oval shaped or something muffler and want the apexi n1 style chrome with 5" tip let me know. cheers

so this thing thats called an inlet resonator, is this just the intake that leads to the AFM?
-
get a turbo mate, if u really can't then buy my NA baby with an na, its not worth importing one down, what u see in the pics is not always what u get. u can come check out my car anytime. its not for sale in the papers or anything yet, but eventually when i start working full time after uni i will consider putting it in.
