  2. True, but if I was going to put my money into a Silvia I would go for an RB20DET, ultimately a better and smoother motor than 4-cylinder SR20DET.
  3. These would both be good options because as soon as you have bought a GTR or S15 you already have a very capable car without throwing much money at it. So yes, $20k of modifications would certainly do the trick in the way of performance on either of these cars. I don't see exactly what you're trying to clear up here, I'm not a complete idiot, I would take a GTR over an S13, S14 or S15 anyday, but on a budget I would have to go the Silvia for a road car.

  5. I disagree that Silvia's and Skyline's are in the same price range, you say a GTS-t is in the same price range as an S13, when you said a GTS-t would set you back an unbelievably cheap $16k! WTF?
  6. Well you decide, I own an R33 GTR and drive it every day to work where I work on Porsche and Mercedes Benz. I don't actually care for those sort of cars because of THE MONEY aspect. I agree that it's part of the whole package but I'm not talking about some random person rocking up at your door one day and saying which car do you wan't? Then you look over and see both a Skyline and a Silvia in your driveway, no I'm talking about purchasing one and modifying it AT YOUR EXPENSE. So really, I'm comparing a Silvia with $35,000 poured into it against a stock standard GTS-t. And I'm sure you'd get a a pretty neat little package with that kind of money spent on a teenage boys car, can you see what I mean now?

You'll find that both stock standard the cars are very different, the Skyline on one hand, is very refined, fast point-to-point for a standard car, is a car that inspires confidence to drive quickly and will grow on you day after day making you feel like you owe it to the car to modify and upgrade it's performance. The Silvia on the other hand, does in fact feel like a teenagers car, it can be very harsh in ride quality, is noisy and is far lesser of a car (standard). But what I'm trying to put across is, you cannot compare a five year older, less performance delivering car to one that is far better in every aspect, but FOR THE SAME MONEY! You could have blown your bank on a standard car that you still love to drive, but say you have bought a Silvia for $10k, you still have $25-$30,000 left to spend on your Silvia that can fix such things as performance, ride quality, day to day drivability etc until it becomes a better car than the Skyline for near the same or less money.

I'm glad you've taken the liberty to point these facts out and am comfortable with you removing whatever you think is necessary but you have missed the key points in what I'm trying to tell you: I gather you are a performance car enthusiast, and so if you had a budget of $30,000-$40,000 which car do you think you could make perform better? Obvious choice, the Silvia mainly because it is far cheaper and has just as many performance bolt on (and otherwise) parts for slighty less money than it's bigger brother the Skyline. I can understand very clearly that you prefer the Skyline and that's fine but I'm just trying to get things straight so we know where each other is coming from.
  9. How do you find you S13 is to drive? Day to day? On the track...? Ride quality etc?
  10. I'm talking about both of them turbocharged, any model Silvia, GTS-T model Skyline (both RWD). I know which one I would take if it was given to me, but I'm talking about purchasing and/or modifying.
  11. I'd like to get a little S13 Silvia thread going and I would value anyones input if possible. First of all, who would take an S13 Silvia over a Skyline?
