  1. I also recommend them, Sam and Matt seem very helpful, and on the ball. give them a call, or email them.
  2. Yeah, thanks, but that really does not help me now. From what I understand, Jspec have said that it was an extraordinarily quick time to put it on a boat. I paid for it and it was on the boat the next day. It must have been sitting on the docks already and the ship ready to sail. Apparantly the usual process is to pay, then get approval while it is being transported to the docks. With this being my first import, I mistakenly assumed that this would allow me the time. Although I am in the crap, Japanese Performance vehicles are the workshop I've chosen to use, and Sam there has been simply awesome. He knew I was stuck, and he said he'd do everything he could for me, even though it's technically my c0ck up. I probably should have asked more questions, and learned a bit more about the process, but one thing I am noticing on the forums is that a lot of newbies get flamed for not seraching (even when they have, but have not found anything relevant) or for simply not knowing anything. Also, it's quite hard to find details on the EXACT import process, maybe due to SEVS being less than a year old. I THOUGHT it was: 1. buy car through importer 2.They organise transport to workshop from Japan 3. Workshop gets car ready 4. I rego it, and it's all champagne and blonde bimbo's as far as the eye can see. However, it seems the process goes like this: 1. buy car through importer. 2. Organise RAWS workshop asap. 3. Give workshop details of car to organise import appropval. 4. Get car on boat. 5. Get car off boat and take to workshop. 6. Take car for inspection 7. Get rego. 8. THEN champagne and blondes. Now. If this is not correct, please feel free to inform me on the steps I've missed. I have not done this before, and all the forum searching I have done brings up very little info on SEVS in regards to the exact procedures. A lot of data is on the 15 year old rule, and a lot of it is for links that no longer work. If a sticky could be made that outlines exactly what to do when, that would be appreciated too. (note: the Importing Faq, Questions? Read here links are pretty garbled. A timeline would be better, or a step by step guide. I messed up, I should have asked more questions, but still, I'm sure I'm not the only arrogant ba$tard here who thinks he knows more than he actually does). Anyway, please let me know what I'm missing, if I've left out a detail.
  3. Yeah, I was told this when I rang up for quotes, but Jspec forgot to mention that. Jspec reckon it'll take about 10 days, so I've been franticly trying to get it all organised today. Should be OK though. I hope. Touch wood. Fingers crossed. Rub lucky buddha belly.
  4. IDEA: Allow a star rating of workshops. No other feedback, and no clarification of what ratings mean, just a sticky in each state forum which allows a person to say something like: Workshop X in suburb Y: did this to my R32. 5/5 stars. I know detailed feedback is not allowed for legal reasons, but a simple star rating should be OK, shouldn't it? I mean the major reason people are on this forum is to mod their cars, and a workshop is an integral part of that, so if a certain workshop gets a lot of good stars, it would probably be a good one, and if someone is inflating the rating of a workshop, all it would take is one person to use it and rate it lower for it to look suspicious, and vice versa. All in all, I think this would be a good and legal way to address this problem.
  5. Hi Chantra I'm in Doncaster also, the nearest place I know of to test drive an R33 GTR would be Japanese Sports Auto imports 212 Bell Street Preston, though I'd advise test driving from a lot of dealers before you buy, or even better look at the cars being sold on here, they'll be the best you'll find. Alternatively, if it's a GTR you're after, you could look at importing through j-spec.com.au, or prestigemotorsport.com.au they seem to be the most reputable car importers, and I'm using jspec myself at the moment. Anyhow, have a great one.
  6. FOR SALE: 1 Soul. Asking price: 2007 Nissan Skyline GT-R Or Better Please contact me for details.
  7. No worries. Shall do that then. Thanks a heap.
  8. I had a look there, but I couldn't find any info that was relevant, they were all R33 compliancers, or under the old system.
  9. I got the dials in the mail on friday, well packed and as advertised. Had no problems at all.
  10. Yeah, I've heard good things about them. I emailed them last night, and got a reply at 9am this morning, the guy seemed straight forward, no bullshit sort, which I liked. I still feel a little lost about a lot of the process though. I thought I knew what was going on, but it seems I was a bit arrogant with that. Am I supposed to organise transport from the docks, or is that usually part of the compliance service?
  11. No worries at all. But it also says that positive feedback is OK, and that negative feedback is tolerated in PM's, which is all I ask for. So, back to the point, if you've had a car complied by these guys, let me know here if it was good (might be able to help others too) and PM me if it was dodgy. The list again: JAPANESE SPORTS AUTO 34 091 929 270 PRESTON VIC AUSTRALIA SKYLINE AUSTRALIA PTY LTD 30 097 662 443 DANDENONG VIC AUSTRALIA JAPANESE PERFORMANCE VEHICLES PTY LTD 23 103 540 905 BAYSWATER VIC AUSTRALIA Thanks to those already helping me, I'll call around monday with quotes, and choose then, at the moment, it's really between Skylines Australia and JPV.
  12. R32. this is the car: http://www.j-spec.com.au/list/index.php?ID=6084 and some hi res pics: http://www.j-spec.com.au/clients/index.php?ID=6084 I'm more looking for someone to say: I went to XXX and while their price was $, the guy was pretty cool, and I was happy with the result. If someone sucked, they can PM me. Also, is SAU sure about the legal ramifications? As far as I am aware, forum boads count as public conversation, which, unlike, say a radio broadcast, is not covered by libel, provided people posting are not representatives of any competing companies. But, hey, I'm not too concerned about all that, because I understand that the people running this site would rather err on the side of caution, though I would like some feedback, (positive or negative) on the above workshops. If it's negative, please PM me.
  13. OK, I know this is gonna be a common question, but I searched in importing forum, and couldn't find anything of much use, and I figured that most of you guys would have used one workshop or another, so I need some recommendations on these workshops: JAPANESE SPORTS AUTO 34 091 929 270 PRESTON VIC AUSTRALIA SEI MOTORS 90 096 964 546 DANDENONG VIC AUSTRALIA SKYLINE AUSTRALIA PTY LTD 30 097 662 443 DANDENONG VIC AUSTRALIA PERFORMANCE VEHICLES PTY LTD 2 3 103 540 905 BAYSWATER VIC AUSTRALIA IMPORTED VEHICLE COMPLIANCE CENTRE 72 109 401 470 CRAIGIEBURN VIC AUSTRALIA By name alone, skyline australia seems pretty good, anyone dealt with them? Or any of the others? I'm kind of after people who have personally dealt with these companies. I'm dealing with a stock GTS-4, so there shouldn't be any worries about removing mods or anything. Anyway, any help would be appreciated.
  14. OK, the car is on it's way, but now I have to pick which workshop to do the compliance, I looked on DOTARS and came up with these guys: JAPANESE SPORTS AUTO 34 091 929 270 PRESTON VIC AUSTRALIA SEI MOTORS 90 096 964 546 DANDENONG VIC AUSTRALIA SKYLINE AUSTRALIA PTY LTD 30 097 662 443 DANDENONG VIC AUSTRALIA PERFORMANCE VEHICLES PTY LTD 23 103 540 905 BAYSWATER VIC AUSTRALIA IMPORTED VEHICLE COMPLIANCE CENTRE 72 109 401 470 CRAIGIEBURN VIC AUSTRALIA By name alone, skyline australia seems pretty good, anyone dealt with them? Or any of the others?
  15. definately write in. include your name and contact details, definately mention that you found the story racially offensive and also blatantly misleading, If everyone on here did exactly this, they'd have to take notice. Also, send the same letter to A Current Affair, If there is one thing either program hates, it's to be proven wrong by the other. Yes, both programs will lie cheat and steal to make a story, but hey, that's the way it works, and if you need to play them off against each other to get the truth out, well, so be it. ACA gets one up on TT, we get a bit of a more accurate picture about the modified car scene, and TT gets a small kick in the figs
  16. Paid! looking forward to putting new boots on my car.
  17. My turn (It might get a little weird) doing 3rd degree also 1st was Bach software engineering (I was 17 and didn't know what I wanted to do. It sucked so badly) 2nd was Bach psych (Picked it up as s minor in my IT degree, liked it a lot more than IT, so I did it while I finished IT. Now, I'm doing grad dip of copywriting, as in the copy written in advertising, brochures and stuff. Work for 3 also.
  18. I don't understand why holden drivers dislike skylines so much. 1. Holdens used to USE skyline engines. 2. Skylines killed holdens and fords in touring cars. Easily. 3. The old 'buy Australian' argument is idiotic. Holdens are about as Australian as arnotts buscuits, as in they are foreign owned and proud. For example, the new monaro. It was not a piece of crap, so holden sold it, and it's now a pontiac GTO. Instead of them being made here, and the US having a rebadged monaro, we now have them made there, and we get rebadged GTO's. 4. Holden and Ford are car builders, not designers. Neither company actually designs the cars. I know several engineers who work for engineering firms who have designed a commodore one month, and a falcon the next. They also outsource to South America and Singapore. They are not Aussie. 5. most of the holden die-hards (and it does seem to be holden more than ford) have it in-bred into them that people are either noble holden men, or despised ford men. Everyone else is gay and wants to violate your little sister (I heard a guy from Port Adelaide say this once.... What a gay man would want with any girl is beyond me, but it shows the intellectual level of some people). Now, I admit, I was a ford man for a long time. My dad got an EB XR6 just when I got my P's (18hrs later, my first speeding fine....) It was a joy to drive, and because all I'd driven previously was a Sh1tbox gemini that I used to drive around the scrub in, I loved it. Then, later I bought myself an AU Xr6... nice, but not as good as the BA, then, I drove a beautiful R32 GTR of a friends dad. ...... Heaven......... in every way that mattered, it was a superior car to one built 10 years after. What more can I say? There are few skyline knockers that have ever driven one.
  19. Good enough for me. I'll be ordering through you when I get home from work. I use paypal so It'll be all sweet. Send me your details.
  20. I hate you so much. "Hey guys, should I buy an R34 GTT or a Supra RZ? Also, I've discovered my girlfriend is bi and wants to bring her model friends over every night for a threesome, foursome and even fivesomes, my wallet is too small for $100 notes, and I can't seem to find underpants capable of holding my collosal man tackle in." And here I am sitting looking forlornly at both, thinking to myself........ someday it will be mine, and here you go, having to choose between two of the most desirable cars in the market. I am jack's burning jealousy. After all that, I'd still pick the skyline. They're both awesome cars, but I just like the lines and 'feel' of the skyline over the supra, but hey, that's just me. Just realised this is an old thread. Oh well, have to get my count up anyway.
  21. I'd be interested, but it looks a little odd when you join up and are selling something the same day. We've had quite a few rip off merchants of late, and while I'm more than happy to give anyone the benifit of the doubt, I think letting people know where you are located, and where you are sourcing these items could be a good idea.
  22. No worries, I was just curious. Personally, I think he'd tie a pink ribbon around his nose if he heard Ali did it, but like you, all I see is the media portrayal, he might be highly pious in his own home..... though I very much doubt it. Still, winners are grinners and losers can please themselves.
  23. Hey Allblitz, just an aside, but I've been wondering what the Australian Muslim community thinks of Mundine, and your sig made me think you might have some knowledge. From an outsiders perspective, it seems that Mundine just picked it because Ali did. He still crosses himself before a fight for crying out loud. Also when he talks about 'his people' we never seem to know wether he's talking about his fans, his religion or his race. Having said that, I've never met the bloke, so for all I know he could be reading the Koran right now.
  24. I'm no mundine fan by any stretch, but he obviously was the better boxer on the night. He landed more jabs, but he never hurt Green (though Green never hurt him either.) but that is why it's boxing, not fighting. Mundine is a superb athlete, it's too bad he's too stupid to realise he's not Ali. He can't rhyme like him, though he tries, he can't move like him, though he want's to, and he can't rope-a-dope Green (though Green is no young George Foreman) And also, if he's muslim, why does he cross himself at the start of the fight? The fight itself was a little let down. Mundine had a wide stance to jump back all the time, but in the end he just planned better for the fight, and Green had no way to counter. Power to him. i still hope that we see a rematch, but with green at 33, it's really unlikely. Still, to those that saw the undercard, how about that guy on earlier that was 0 from 4 with the bloke in his corner with "VB" on his beer gut. He's a genius if ever I saw one some of the best fights were a bit earlier on. a filipino guy who drew with an aussie was a pretty good hard fight. Well, if nothing else, it got people talking about boxing again.
