  1. how bout you fix those pics onto the internet for computers
  2. so bigbird/shortpants, where's those pics...?
  3. well despite the usaul issues i had an absolute ball. killed my pb by 4 seconds and the other datto boys also whipped out pb's. Good work russman, has the bug bitten now? haha i seem to have issues with the nuts that hold my turbo on the manifold constantly coming loose. its a top mount and the nuts wind their way up! so i end up spending most of my day either driving or fixing and don't get to wach too many others. i'm glad the pre 89 class is starting to get quicker too, look out skylines haha
  4. Russ thats awesome you're on board! just don't go off track and you won't need a tow hook... i've tried that policy but it hasn't worked for me yet at sandown haha roy, you confirmed yet?
  5. Sweet, entry faxed this morning. its good to be close to home so that when your brakes boil... or you hit a wall that the trailer can be hired from just up the raod. come to think of it i've never made it out of sandown in one piece!
  6. Troy is the one with big power mine is just a baby, and besides - seems the power makes no difference as none of us can drive Come to sandown russ, you'll have a ball!
  7. for sure, it'd be good to watch though!
  8. emts they are some good vids! you didnt happen to catch the green vs white datto battle 2 did you?
  9. yeah i had a ball, learnt a lot about my car and how freikin hard it is to drive a datsun on the slide! great to meet lots of new people and i loved the battles with fellow datto's and going for lots of rides and giving lots of rides. great times! i'm keen for the next one already anyone get any pics or vid of the white datto in action on the skid pan? i'd be keen to seen what the car was doing
  10. Well fark me DECA was fun! not sure i did the datto crew's reputation any favours in the morning sessions, i just kept looping it! without a hadbrake it was a fair challenge though, a hydraulic setup like the other dat's had is on the cards for me. Had some very close battles with troy (green 1600) and got to meet lots of people and ride in lots of cars. those GTR's just have so much grip! The battles are definately a highlight, everyone in the same spot watcing gives a great atmosphere. bring on the pics/vids!
  11. Enter the technical dumass... If i purchased the QSTARZ BT-Q1000, then did the software upgrade to it - is there software that i can run on a laptop to view this or do i need a certain nokia phone? Are the lap times able to be displayed as they happen like a normal lap timer or do you need to download the info after data logging?
  12. Ha, i saw your car as i was coming back from some 'road testing' in my datto. you were just leaving, and funnily enought your car looked like it does in the avatar. don't you worry about mr. plod?
  13. Don't be silly, none of the other bums paid... i'll fix you up for the petrol mate, cheers
  14. hey, that fuel you stole i used. PM me your details and i'll fix you up. Roy, he's just mr. nice guy!
  15. Yeah i had a good day as well, only got in the practice and one session before the rain though. While i'm on that... what the hell happened with the day? gates opened around eight and drivers briefing still going at 10:30? plenty more session could have come before the rain if things were running on time! That aside i benefitted from some bigger wheels/ tyres and some new front suspension and brakes. it was great to be able to pull up with ease, one extra vote for the QFM A1RM pads How would i go about joining the PIARC day in about a month?
  16. Me too. lets hope for no crashy crash this time
  17. i just got one peice of straight pipe and cut a really acute angle in it then flipped it 180 degrees. you then weld that piece together and cut the pointy end off. repeat that twice (was once for my 4 cyl) and then cut the pairs to fit into one. if you take your time and have a good welder you will come up with a top manifold. i think mine took me around three days!
  18. As topic states, i think i need a series 1 as i don't have ABS (not sure if the cylinders are different tho) pm me if you have one, i'll come pick up if you are in melbourne cheers Leigh
  19. haha, thats not a discount. it just costs more if you pay late!
  20. I have discovered that running a three piece simmons wheel i can easily squeeze the r33 calipers and disks in diameter wise, but the caliper sticks out past the face of the disk, needing 25mm spacers on the front to fit. i could all but eliminate this with the right offset hat and disk combo. As well as the fact that the rear disks have the extra weight in them due the the drum brake handbrake which i will not be using. It also sounds like people are cracking even dba 4000 rotors, which are not cheap so i think the cost of the two piece rotors will work out cheaper for me than buying good rotors (proably the dba 4000's) and proper bolt on spacers all round. i haven't got final prices but it looks that way. also space is at a premium at the rear so deleting the 30mm spacer i would need would save me a lot of grief! is it important to match brake pads front and rear. i want to run ds2500 pads in the front and was not going to do so in the rear but i'm not sure.
  21. i was looking at the 'forged billet superlite' calipers but i think it sounds now like the r33 sumitomo's should work well for me. I'm now all but sold on the two piece rotor and hat system as it will help me squeeze fifteen inch rims over the big brakes making my race tyres cheaper and easier to get second hand. With the r33 master Cylinder, i already have a bias valve plumbed into the brake line - if i changed my current master cylinder to the stock 33 one, should i take it out? last question - wilwood rotors of the two piece variety are about $140 US each for the ones i'm after and they sound like a good thing. any reason people know of why i chouldn't give them a go? they are 32mm wide tho, wil they fit in the r33 front caliper?
  22. yeah its a ball, a bit of a handful at times! i have only got moderate sized disks and calipers on at the moment and so haven't tried the 33's. I don't have any brake problems as such, just want more braking power and want to keep the unsprung weight down so am trying to stick with 15 inch wheels. i am currently running dunlop formula r's on the front and advan a048's on the rear, both 205/50/15. i am probably going to go down the track of two piece rotors so i can get some brake clearance with a deep brake hat, and the wilwood calipers seemed too good to resist. good to know that the r33 calipers are good to use though. nobody seems to run wilwood, i'm trying to find out why?
  23. I'm after some help from the lads in the know on brake caliper and master cylinder choice as well as rotor selection. I've been racing my sr20det datsun 1600 in the SAU vic track days and am now doing a bit of brake research. I have, and have had for a while a full set of r33 disks and calipers that are all but on the car but my interest has been sparked by the aftermarket two piece rotors and calipers. i was going to be running just standard r33gtst disks and calipers all round with DS2500 pads and motul rbf600. after scouring the net there are many calipers 2nd hand and new available at varying costs, the car is registered and don't want to turn it into a track only beast. what sort of piston size / master cylinder size means what. why are wilwood calipers so cheap? how crucial is brake rotor material? bearing in mind the car weighs a shade under 1000kg's and makes about 180rwkw at the moment, is there any great advantage in upgrading from the r33 gear to, say some wilwood superlite calipers? they can be had for around $150 US!
  24. yeah if the injectors are not taken i'll buy them
  25. sweet, i could see a few cone shaped gears and a few clutch looking plates through the holes in the centre. I'm hoping that its in good nick and that since its going in a nice light car then it will not need a bigger shim. can always take it out if not. i did also notice the big 31 spline flanged axles that go into the diff, they must be unbreakable!
